CHAPTER 511: CHAPTER 511: ARE YOU SLEEP CONFUSED?

"Su Xiaoge, are you muddled with sleep?"

The man was silent for a few seconds, then asked in a cold voice.

"No, I’m completely awake." Su Ge immediately sat up in bed, boldly facing the man.

The man’s handsome face visibly darkened, a flicker passing through his phoenix eyes before settling back to calm.

"It’s getting late, you should go to sleep."

"Mhm." Su Ge didn’t say much more.

The night was as dark as ink, the sound of the night breeze across the window sill was especially clear.

There was a long silence in the video before the man spoke again, "Is it about to rain in Rong City? Close the window before you go to sleep."

"I know." She answered calmly.

The man looked deeply at her, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

After uttering her last goodnight, Su Ge turned off the video chat.

Alone, she clutched her phone sitting on her bed, feeling for the first time how long and desolate the night was.

The wind outside grew stronger, making the windows rattle loudly.

The curtains were lifted high, casting numerous large and eerie shadows in the dark night.

Eventually, she got up from the bed and walked barefoot towards the window.

She had just reached out to close it when a downpour seemed to arrive on cue.

The sound of the swift rain suddenly engulfed the whole of Rong City.

The autumn night’s rain came without thunder or lightning flashes, but it arrived swiftly.

Faint sounds of commotion came from the Rose Garden; probably the servants had forgotten to protect the roses from the rain and were now awoken to deal with it.

Su Ge silently withdrew her hand from the window and watched the torrential rain in silence.

Years-old memories started to resurface in her mind.

In the sound of rain, those eyes that shone like stars gradually moistened.

If only that great fire could have encountered such an autumn rain...

Perhaps... she would still have family members now.

Instead of being left with only Chu Yihan.

Her world now was left with him alone.

If one day he were gone, what would she do...

What to do...

The wind grew stronger, the autumn rain blew in from the windowsill. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

"Lady, have you gone to bed?" The servant’s voice was very light, obviously they had forgotten to close the window and came specially to do so.

Su Ge glanced sideways, "I have already closed the window, go to sleep."

The servant was clearly startled by Su Ge’s response, but quickly answered, "Yes."

Afterward, the sound of footsteps faded away.

Once the servant had left, Su Ge then reached out to close the window.

She then got back into bed to sleep.

It was already two o’clock in the morning.

The night was cold, long, and noisy.

"Lady."

Suffering from insomnia, Su Ge didn’t come downstairs until nine o’clock the next day.

As soon as she went down, a servant came over with a gloomy face.

"What’s wrong?" After last night’s autumn rain, the temperature dropped significantly, and Su Ge wore a knit sweater over her dress today.

"Lady, you... should take a look at the Rose Garden." The servant lowered their head, their voice starting to choke, "Last night everyone went to bed sure that there would be no rain, but who knew a downpour would start in the middle of the night. Although everyone scrambled to shelter the roses in the garden, many roses still... fell in the heavy rain."

"What?" Seeing the servant’s near-tearful expression, Su Ge knew the Rose Garden must have suffered severe damage.

Immediately, she strode towards the Rose Garden.

Before even entering the Rose Garden, Su Ge could already hear Housekeeper Wu scolding the servants.

Upon walking in, she was stunned.

The entire courtyard had turned red, with rose petals carpeting the entire ground like a blanket.
