CHAPTER 35: WE HAVE A VISITOR?
"So this is the guy you were hunting, huh?" Silas stared at the ruby haired girl with his brows knitted. She nodded silently, then he turned to the shaken man, "You are very lucky."
The man, whose body was drenched in blood, with cuts and bruises all over his skin was unable to utter a word. He stared at the woman standing beside Silas, "She’s quite familiar."
’Of course, she was wrapped up like cocoon earlier, and he must have only seen Ether’s face.’ Silas nodded his head, then turned to stare at the side of Ether’s face, "Maybe she is."
"She tried to shoot me with a gun," Ether turned to stare into Silas’ eyes. Her crimson eyes, along with the golden rings around them, gleamed in a strange light, "Let’s kill him."
"Hey, you can’t go saying things like that." Luke immediately butted in, stepping forth to stand between Ether and the man with a decisive expression, "You can’t go killing him."
"What is she saying?" The man blinked, his pupils dilating as he lowered his gaze from her eyes to her lower mouth. After focusing his gaze on her lips, the man staggered in fear.
He nearly stumbled over furniture as he backed away, staring at Ether who watched in a calm silence. He noticed the popped veins along her neck, then Silas’ grip on her left arm.
Luke stared at the man, then shifted his confused gaze to Silas and the woman. He had been caught, and did as he was told— provide the hidden guy —only to be dragged into this.
"Ether, shut up and stand still." Silas commanded, releasing his grip around Ether then stepping forward. He glared at the man who backed up a wall, "You can talk to me or her."
"Please, I’ll answer anything! Just don’t let that thing come close to me!" He screamed out, shielding his face with his hands, fearing for his life. Ether did not dare move an inch.
"Tell me, what was in that armoured truck?" Silas asked, dropping in a couch. As soon as he sat, he caressed his face, glaring at Ether out the corner of his eyes, "Go get a drink."
Ether nodded, then turned around to leave. Silas watched Ether leave, then a cold grin formed on his face, "Now that she’s left us. It’s best you start telling me all that you know."
——
Countless tables and chairs lay toppled across the marble floor, documents were cast in the air, while the window glasses were cracked up. The atmosphere in the room was heavy.
A young man with short ruffled hair dressed in a denim overcoat and trousers, held the bridge of his nose with one hand and the phone up to his ear with the other, while he stood.
His face was flushed, his eyes closed and veins popped all over his body. The voice from the other end of the phone was silent, even though he’d not cut the call, waiting for a reply.
"You mean to tell me you lost Ether?" He asked in a soft voice as the windows exploded to pieces. He frowned, his face wrinkled like folded paper, and his entire body was shaking.
"Well, uh, not exactly lost." The voice on the other end awkwardly replied as he audibly gulped a mouthful of saliva, stammering the next words, "S— She just found a new owner."
There was silence.
"Are you insane!" The man bellowed into the phone, his voice stretched to the limits as his eyes bulged. He staggered forward, "We can’t let our weapons fall in the wrong hands."
"I— I will keep you posted on any updates." The voice on the other end quickly added, a terrified pitch adding to his tone. Everyone knew how frightening this man’s rage could be.
It was rumoured that he’d ordered the massacre of an entire family— from the father to the children, and all extended members —just because he’d failed to meet his ’expectations’.
Till date, no one at the Promethium Group knew what those expectations were, so they were worked in fear of Sigmund’s rage. The voice trembling over the phone showed his fear.
"They can use her to trace our tracks, idiot! Find Ether, and get her back by any means possible!" He roared, flinging the phone across the room in a fit, "I’d never let that happen."
Ether was not easy to control. She was a volatile beast that needed to be cages in order for them to use her safely. If she breaks out of that cage, then she’d attack anything in sight.
"Once they track the sensors in her suit, we would retrieve her immediately." Sigmund’s clenched fist loosened as he closed his eyes, taking a breath, "Nothing could ever remove it."
Sigmund nodded to himself, feeling his heart calming down. Even if she breaks out, then the fool that released her would have to pay with his life! No one could control such a beast.
The more he repeated that in his mind, the looser his fist. After stabilising his breathing, his entire body— once pumped with bubbling anger —deflated as he turned to sit down, but,
He’d tossed the chair across the room.

"Ether? Why are your eyes weird?" Selena asked Ether who sat across her on the dining table while feasting on her plate of pasta. As soon as the words fell, Ether stopped chewing.
"My eyes are weird?" Ether turned to give Silas a questioning look, but he had his head bowed and eyes locked on his plate of pasta. She blinked, "No one’s mentioned that to me."
"Really? They’re really beautiful!" Selena remarked as she rolled the pasta around her fork, then lifted it to her mouth. She gulped down the pasta as Ether stared back in shock.
"I’ve never seen them before." Ether lowered her gaze, staring at her meal. After Silas noticed the shift in atmosphere, he raised his head then drank a glass of water and sighed.
"You shouldn’t talk while you’re eating." Silas prepared to lecture the both of them but he heard a knock at the gate. He turned in the direction of the gate, "Did we get a visitor?"
Ice blinked as she drank from her glass of water, then shifted her glance from Silas and focused on the door as her pupils narrowed to needlepoint, "We both know that’s not possible."
