CHAPTER 49: LET’S HURRY UP

"You can’t kill me! You need me for information, don’t you?" the woman cried out as he loosened his grip just enough for her to breath properly. She heaved, struggling to stay still.

"There are two of you." Silas replied coolly, dragging the woman to her feet by the neck, then turning to the other man who was rolling on the ground, "We could let one of you go."

"Wait, what do you mean by that?" She asked whilst glaring at Silas with confusion in her eyes, and seeing his shrug caused her eyes to widen and heart to race, "You’ll need us!"

"Trust me. You could use the motivation." Silas stretched out his left hand then made a grabbing motion. The man on the ground was lifted up then pulled closer as Silas continues,

"There could be some use for the two of you though." Silas raised a brow as he held the man in his telekinetic grasp before turning to face the woman, "So are you ready to speak?"

"Yes. They’re just down the road." The man groaned, lifting his head to speak. With his body in Silas’ grip, his movements were restrained. He tried, but gave up the vain struggles.

"You know, you could tell me the truth and bet on living. Or tell a lie and face what one could call," Silas snapped a finger and nodded towards Ether and Matilda, "Certain death."

Ether nodded back, then turned to run down the road. Only Matilda stood confused and kept staring back at Silas, but he stood silently as he shifted all his focus from her to Ether.

"How fast do you think she can burst down that road, and back?" Silas blinked, turning his glance to the woman who he had in his choke hold. He tightened his grip, "Wanna bet?"

"Fuck." She cursed feeling his fingers digging into her neck. She glared at the road only to meet Matilda’s confused stare and Ether’s slowly disappearing back, "He’s lying to you!"

Silas squinted his eyes, squeezing her neck until her face was all blue then he suddenly released her and let her crash to the ground. Silas nodded in delight, "What’s your name?"

"Why does it matter?" She wheezed and coughed, clawing at the ground as she gasped for air. It took her a long time before blood returned to her face, "You can call me Velma..."

"Okay, Velma." Silas nodded his head in approval, keeping his telekinetic grip tight on the man. He turned his glance to Ether, who’d heard them then stopped, "Lead the way."

"Follow me." Velma groaned, rubbing her neck tight. As they passed by Matilda, that confused expression was still on her face. Velma glanced at her for second before leaving.

Matilda turned to stare at their backs as they walked down the road, then she turned to the left then right. There were houses on both sides and no roads until far down this street.

"I could have sworn he looked directly towards me and nodded." Matilda muttered as a cold gleam appeared in her eyes. She followed them whilst scanning the area, "I mistook it."

Besides, Ether could have ran down the streets and returned in a few minutes to report anything so he’d kill them— if Silas really wanted to. He more or less was letting them live?

Matilda narrowed her eyes, then her pupils snapped to the side. She noticed some dark figures moving in the shadows, "Hasn’t everyone found their way to their homes by now?"

On the other hand, Velma who was leading the way turned to Silas who had his hand stretched out, then the man held in his grip before asking, "Could you let him go, Silas?"

"I’ll crush him to pieces if you play smart with us. I love it when people do that with me, you know?" Silas replied in a calm voice, as if killing a human meant nothing to him.

"You’re a monster." Velma answered, then walked into a wall by the left, completely phasing through it. Silas and the others stared at the building, then they all followed her.

Silas raised a brow staring down the road, then he folded his arms across his chest in deep thoughts. There was another road here, leading far deeper than he thought it’d lead.

"Interesting." Silas said, staring at the white walls on both sides. After they’d walked a long distance down the road, Velma led him to a gate where four armed men stood waiting.

"Velma?" One of them, blonde with a mask over his face, asked as he scanned the group, then he noticed the man floating above the ground beside Silas, "Peter?! What happened—"

"There are only four of them at the gate?" Silas raised a brow before waving his hand to the side then three out of the four men were reduced to bloody splatters across the big gate.

The only survivor, who was standing by the far left, stared at the bloody mess then back at the man who waved his hand. He lifted his gun with trembling hands, "I-I have a family."

Silas lowered his brow, then made a crushing motion with his hand. Before the man had the chance to press the trigger he froze, then fell over to Velma’s feet as she stood watching.

"W—Why did you kill them?" Velma asked as she staggered back, staring at the mess he made without lifting a finger. Her pupils dilated as her eyes looked from left to right in fear.

"They were useless to me. You on the other hand, are not." Silas replied simply, lifting a hand and resting it on the door, then forming a smile on his face, "Please, keep it that way."

By using Disintegrate on the door, he removed the gates out of the way. As the gates was reduced to nothing, everything behind it was laid bare for Silas to see— the enemy hideout.

"I can’t believe I’m back to this place," Ether looked around as she walked past Silas to enter the base, sweeping her gaze across the numerous structures, "Let’s hurry up, owner."
