CHAPTER 449: VOLUNTEER TASK!

City A (10th Zone)

The next day, Jeremy wakes up and follows his morning routine. After completing it, he was about to enter the training room for practice.

He received a message on his digital device. He then read the message. His eyes flashed with surprise the next second.

"Voluntary service!"

Jeremy was taken aback. This notification came from the office. He then sat on the sofa and began to read it carefully.

He gained full understanding after reading the notification completely. But his heart was stirred. It talked about patrolling the border areas of cities under the 10th Zone.

If there is any threat of corrupted beasts, then they need to solve it. The City administration here in City A would provide full assistance.

But the problem is they didn’t mention anything about the source of the threat. Where is this crisis coming from? Why would they need to patrol the border?

There are Beast Tamers in those cities as well. Instead, they are sending out the Beast Tamers from City A.

Because the Beast Tamers are stronger and of a higher tier. They could handle high-tier corrupted beasts. When he was thinking over this, he couldn’t help but think of his home.

"Don’t tell me. It has something to do with the changes in the wilderness," Jeremy said to himself.

If it’s about volunteering, he wants to go back to his home. But it’s in the 14th Zone. He doesn’t know whether there’s any chance for him to go back to his city.

Jeremy then entered his bathroom to take a shower.

15 minutes later,

He was going to meet Leader Gisela to talk about this matter.

From this notification, it was clear that they were not going to enter the wilderness here anytime soon.

Meanwhile,

The news was taking everyone by storm on the ground below. From the office staff to members, everyone was discussing this matter.

The Beast Tamers were bored. They needed to go to the wilderness to get resources. They couldn’t stay quiet in one place. Their lifeline beasts needed resources as well.

So many of them had decided to take up this task. At least, they could enter the wilderness from other cities. The wilderness surrounding other cities was less dangerous.

As they didn’t have a core area and Colossal Beasts living in it.

The 3rd Squad members were discussing this matter as well. The male and female members were speaking outside the building in the front garden space.

Captain Sinag and Ada were there as well. But one person was missing. The person was none other than Jeremy Night.

"Where is he?"

"Is he going to spend time in his room forever?" Ada asked.

Sinag smiled and said, "I think he will come for this task."

Florence, Amelia, and Ruby didn’t speak much. They were wondering whether it was okay to go to other cities.

What if high-tier corrupted beasts appear in that city? Anything could happen to them.

The male members Fredric, Albert George, and Cedric were thinking about going as a team. They needed resources as well.

Meanwhile,

Jeremy exited his room and was on his way to Leader Gisela’s office. He came across other squad members on the way.

He simply nodded to them and continued on his way. He didn’t have time to entertain them. The members were busy as well.

They weren’t thinking about Jeremy Night right now.

Office:

Soon, Jeremy reached her office. He asked for permission. When permission was given, he walked inside.

He saw her behind the desk working on something.

Gisela then shifted her gaze from the screen to Jeremy.

"Do you need something?" she asked.

"It’s about the Voluntary Task. Is it possible for me to go back to my hometown?" Jeremy asked in a solemn tone.

In his heart, he knew he was asking for too much.

Gisela was stunned. She didn’t expect Jeremy was still thinking about his family.

She said, "I spoke to Head Neil last night. He knows your situation. To be honest, all the top Beast Tamers are following the recent changes in the wilderness."

Hearing that, my eyes flickered.

"According to Head Neil, something is happening in the unexplored area. So all the wilderness borders were put on high alert."

"Not only the 14th Zone but other zones as well. This matter is now slowly coming to light. That’s why our City Governors sent this notification out," she said.

"Is it possible for me to go back?" Jeremy asked.

Gisela shook her head and said, "If it were an ordinary trip, it would be fine. But you will definitely participate in the battle. Right now, I don’t think it’s wise for you to go back."

"You had already done something to lure out those beasts. It was good that your father is one of the City Governors there. Otherwise, your actions could invite severe punishment."

"So don’t worry about your city. If City C faces some danger, then we will do something. We won’t be waiting for anyone’s permission," Gisela explained in a serious tone.

Hearing that, he felt exposed. She saw through his feelings. She was right. His actions could put his family in harm’s way.

Jeremy then collected his thoughts. He had been practicing lately. He decided to take up this volunteer task.

"I’ll choose this task," he said.

Gisela was not surprised. Because everyone was getting bored out here. She then included Jeremy Night’s name in her database.

After doing that she said, "The City administration will further assign a location to you. It could be any city or human settlement in our zone."

"Okay," Jeremy replied.

Then he stood up to leave. When he left the place, Gisela’s smile disappeared. She made a call to Head Neil.

When the call was connected, she told him about her conversation with Jeremy Night. Head Neil wasn’t surprised.

Because the first reactions were seen in the 14th Zone. Only then did everyone begin strengthening their patrolling.

It would take some time for the Human Alliance to figure out the situation. Until then, he didn’t want any mishap to happen.

So Head Neil then told her to keep an eye on Jeremy Night.
