Chapter 218: Ungratefulness
CHAPTER 218: UNGRATEFULNESS
"I need to go somewhere, so you two can stay here and talk about the details of the guild. I’ll be back soon. Juliet, make sure Griselda doesn’t do anything crazy while I’m gone. Riyala, wait for me here, okay?"
Jason asked that last part to Riyala in her own language, and Riyala immediately perked up and nodded with a smile! Riyala hadn’t understood a single word that they had been saying there all along, and she had just stood to the side and been watching in a lost daze. She wasn’t very comfortable being left alone with all these strangers, but she was sure that they were trustworthy since Jason had been smiling and laughing around them. She would just stay quiet and try to melt into the background until Jason comes back.
Griselda, on the other hand, let out a frustrated sound when JAosn told Juliet to watch over her! Did Jaosn think she was some sort of child that needed to be babysat!? Griselda huffed at Jason, and Jason just chuckled as he finally left the house. Once he was gone, Gresilda turned her focus over to Riyala as she crept closer and spoke in a conspiratorial voice.
"So, you’re from another country, are you? And you were staying in this house all alone with Jason all night and without his girlfriend here to watch over the two of you... How interesting..."
Griselda’s voice made Riyala shriek in shock and she scrambled to get away! Griselda raised a brow when she saw the intense reaction from Riyala and she wondered what made her so spooked! It wasn’t like Griselda was trying to eat her or anything!
Griselda brought out a phone and opened her translator app.
"Come on. I’ve got a translator here, so let’s have some girl talk..."
Griselda’s face spread into a sinister smile and Riyala let out a hiccup in fear as she began taking steps back! She really didn’t like being alone with strangers!
——
[King’s Substitute] has been activated.
Jason’s body vanished from outside the house as he was transported into the Orange Gate that he sent his Legion to! The Rook Rank Spidermonkey Boss, Lupin, appeared in the spot that Jason had been standing, and it let out a small cry before it immediately melted into the shadows to prevent anyone from seeing it.
Jason took in a calming breath as the rush from the teleportation slowly left him and he looked around the new area he had appeared in. It was a swampy region with large gnarly trees growing out from a large lake filled with green water and moss. The entire region was just an enlarged swamp and Jason could hear the sounds of insects and toads echoing through the air from where he was. Jason was currently sitting on the root of one of the larger trees. The roots had spread out across the surface of the swamp and formed a platform that was sturdy enough for people to walk on.
To Jason’s left side, multiple Adamantine Ants and Spidermonkeys had gathered the bodies of the swamp vipers that they killed together, and on Jason’s other side was a large group of superhumans who were looking at him in shock. The first person Jason noticed was the woman whom he recognized the most, Madam Rose. She was giving him the kind of look he would normally see on Gina’s face whenever there was some large plot revelation in the soap opera she was always watching. Her mouth was open and her eyes were narrowed in pure shock as she pointed at him.
"You...?"
The woman spoke in surprise and Jason only gave her a blank look before he spoke to them all.
"The Gate should be open now that the Boss is dead. If you have any injured members, then take them with you and follow that Ant. It’ll lead you back to the exit."
One of the Adamantine Ants came forward with a screech to tell them to follow it, and murmurs echoed from all the superhumans there. They looked from one person to another while whispering curiously, but one of them immediately stepped forward with a frown. It was the leader of the Lightbringers and he was not happy!
"What do you mean we should leave like this!? Are you trying to take all the credit for clearing this gate!?"
This one statement made the rest of the superhumans increase their whispering and Jason felt his eyes narrow.
"What did you say?"
The leader of the Lightbringers almost took a step back in shock when he saw the anger in Jason’s eyes, but he steeled his resolve and stepped forward again before saying:
"You’re the summoner who called the monsters to save us, right? We’re grateful that you did that, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t do anything! We killed many of the monsters before you came to save us, so don’t we deserve some sort of compensation!?"
"Yeah, we should get some crystals!"
"Many of our members died here! You can’t just leave us with nothing!"
"If you didn’t come, then we would’ve still won!"
"Don’t hog the glory!"
The people there immediately began to voice their anger at the lack of any compensation! None of them had been able to say anything when the monsters were gathering the crystals because they had no idea what was really going on, but now that they could see that there was a human controlling the monsters, they were more confident in saying what they really thought!
Jason felt a cold annoyance rising from deep in his heart when he heard their bullshit. They were really trying to demand crystals from him after he saved their lives? If Jason hadn’t come here with his monsters, then they would all be dead! One of the Adamantine Ants came towards Jason and handed over a large bag containing all of the crystals and Jason saw how the superhumans perked up once they saw him take it. Jason looked towards the Leader of the Lightbringers with a cold gaze before he opened his Alternate Dimension and threw the crystals inside.
"Hey, where did they go!?"
The leader of the Lightbringers was immediately angry when he saw the crystals vanish into thin air, and Jason spoke with as much poison as he could.
"People like you make me wonder why I go out of my way to help strangers, if this is the thanks I’ll get. You would have died in this Gate if I didn’t send my subordinates to help you, and instead of saying thank you, you’re demanding the crystals that you didn’t work for? Fine then, if you want it, then I’m standing right here. Come and get it."
Jason’s aura suddenly turned into something sinister and all the superhumans took steps back as they felt the raw bloodlust wash over them! The leader of the Lightbringers fell back to his ass in fear as he felt the intense aura and he swallowed as he felt a cold sweat go down his back! Jason turned his gaze toward Madam Rose who was standing with the other superhumans and she raised her hands in surrender and shook her head to make sure he knew she was not asking for anything. She also thought that they deserved some sort of compensation since they used a lot of resources to enter the Gate, but she was more than grateful that she was alive, so she wouldn’t dare to ask for more than that!
Jason turned away from them and spoke coldly.
"I won’t repeat myself again. Get your fucking ass off the floor and get out of here. Now."
The large Adamantine Ant let out a loud screech towards the superhumans, and this time no one dared to say a single word as they were all ushered away from the tree and towards the Gate. Jason let out a calming sigh as he shook his head. If Gina was here, she would’ve probably slapped that man for being so stupid.
