CHAPTER 247: IT’S HUGE

Even though the SMD and the guilds weren’t able to produce a sufficient number of powerful superhumans to handle the Gate, they still had the Enforcers!

Liam spoke up quickly.

"I don’t think we should invite outsiders into our problems just yet. For now, let’s try and handle it on our own. Can you contact the Enforcers and ask them to send some S Rank commanders? If things get out of control, then it might be beneficial to have someone like Agiel or Luthor at hand."

Liam had been looking away from Florence while saying all this, so he didn’t see the way Florence began blushing as she stared at his handsome face absentmindedly! It wasn’t until she heard the last part of his sentence that she came back to reality, and she frowned at the fact that Liam was ordering her about! But she could see the sense in what he was saying, and she simply nodded and told him that she would reach out to them. The Director of the New York branch finally got off his call, and Liam turned to him and asked if there was really a Gate appearing. The Director spoke up gravely.

"The agents on the ground are predicting that it might be the largest Gate we’ve ever experienced in the past ten years. The magical reading is higher than anything they’ve ever recorded before. You have to get there as soon as possible."

The Director began to head out of the room, and both Liam and Florence followed after him. The SMD building was in a state of constant motion as the agents moved from one place to another. Many of them had terrified looks on their faces since they knew that this situation could end up eradicating their entire country if they didn’t handle it properly, but they were still trying their best to make sure all the documents and information were sorted as quickly as possible.

"Sir, over here."

An agent called on the three executives, and they turned to see a man and woman standing together. The man was the same SMD agent who had come to alert them about the appearance of the Gate, but the woman was a superhuman who worked with a guild. She was holding a staff with a gem on the tip that amplified her magic, and she had a serious look on her face as she nodded to Liam and the others. Liam asked the man what was going on and the man gestured to the woman whilst talking.

"I asked for Madam Gwen’s help with transportation. Her Gift allows her to transport people over long distances, so she can get you to the Gate location quickly."

Liam turned to Madam Gwen in surprise and the woman nodded to them respectfully before speaking up.

"My Gift only allows me to transport people to places that I’ve marked out before. Luckily, I already marked this building before I went to the Gate location, so I can move between both places as long as I have the mana to fuel the travel. You might feel a little disoriented for a few seconds after the transport, but you don’t need to worry. It’s perfectly safe and you’ll go back to normal after you calm down."

Liam and Florence nodded while the old Director wished them luck while stepping away. Madam Gwen asked them all to huddle together. She placed her staff on the floor right in the middle, and a bright magic circle appeared under her feet before they suddenly vanished from the building! Liam felt a sensation like a hook grabbing hold of his belly button and pulling him forward and his empty stomach lunched from the sudden movement!

It only took a second for him and the others to arrive on the top of a large building in the middle of Central New Jersey, but Liam couldn’t stop himself from bending over and putting his hand over his mouth as he felt like throwing up!

Florence actually felt food rise up to her throat from the movement and had to put her hand over her mouth and force it back down so she wouldn’t throw up! Madam Gwen grimaced a little when she saw their reactions, but once she was sure that they would be okay, she nodded to all of them before she turned and vanished again. She had a lot more people to transport, so she was going to keep moving between the SMD building and this location for a few more minutes.

Liam finally took a chance to look around, and he was surprised by the sheer number of people he could see on the various rooftops all around him. Central New Jersey had hundreds of skyscrapers and tall buildings that housed the various businesses, and all of those businesses had been commissioned by various guilds that were using the rooftops as waiting points for the superhumans. There were some very famous superhumans standing on the rooftops, and Liam felt a sense of ease coming over him when he saw that even members of the BloodRaven guild were also a part of the expedition. Liam looked at the people standing on the same rooftop as him, and he nodded towards some of the Enforcers who were waiting there with them. Keith was standing a few meters away from Liam with a frown on his face and Liam was shocked when he saw his brother.

Keith had been in the hospital for the past few hours because of the fight he had with Agiel and Liam didn’t expect to see him for at least another two days. Were things really so serious that even Keith had to leave the hospital just for this? Liam noticed that Keith had still not noticed him. Keith was looking up at the sky just like many of the other superhumans standing near Liam and he had a sudden realization that Keith was staring at the Gate that everyone was talking about.

Liam slowly moved his head upwards to glance at the sky above him, and he felt a broken laugh escape his mouth when he saw what was up there! It was a yellow outline that was as large as two football fields hovering about five hundred meters over them, and it was flickering with magic power as it slowly formed into a Yellow Gate. Liam had never seen a Gate being formed before, and at that moment, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of extreme smallness as he stared at the humongous circle. Whatever it was that was going to be coming out of that Gate would be the end of this world. It was either they stopped this Gate here, or they would all die horrible deaths.

"It’s huge."

It was Florence who had spoken up, and Liam couldn’t even blame her for being shocked! Anyone would be stunned if they saw something like this! Liam shook his head as he finally turned away from the Yellow Gate and moved toward his brother to speak to him. Keith was still staring up, but once Liam came close, Keith finally looked down to greet his brother. Liam asked Keith how he was feeling and Keith just shrugged nonchalantly. Superhumans were known to recover fast, so Liam knew that even though Keith wasn’t a hundred percent yet, he was going to be very close to perfect health. Liam nodded back to his brother and Keith asked,

"He isn’t here?"

Keith didn’t need to specify who ’he’ was and Liam just sighed and shook his head. Keith’s face squeezed in slight worry before he spoke up again.

"The Enforcers are sending a few commanders to come and help out. Agiel was in Boston handling a case, but she’s making her way over right now, and Luthor should be here soon."
