CHAPTER 321: SACRIFICE AND BLOODSHED II

[Sword Slash] has been activated!

SLASH!

A giant sword more than a hundred meters long suddenly erupted from the tip of the hilt and cut a straight line down the battlefield!! The sword tore a long line into the ground, and the grass and sand immediately started to rot and turn to dust as the life was sucked out of them! The General was caught completely off guard when the sword suddenly extended, but at the last moment, he was able to sense the danger from Jason’s attack, and he managed to shift his body to the side so that the sword only left a shallow cut in his shoulder! But that one cut was enough for him to suffer serious damage! The [Death’s Mirage] sword had a direct link to the River of the Afterlife, so its blade was literally created from the anguished souls of the dead that were desperate for life! It didn’t matter how much you tried to defend against it or stop it with your power! The moment those souls came in contact with anything with life in it, they would pounce on that thing and try their best to suck the life out of it immediately!

Jaraht’s face darkened once he saw his arm starting to rot from the shoulder! A dark black substance began travelling down the full length of his arm and up towards his neck, and he realized that he could no longer feel his arm! If Jaraht allowed the rot to continue moving across his body, he was sure that he would eventually die, so Jaraht immediately activated [Emberstorm] and his right arm erupted in flames from his skill before he grabbed his right arm from the shoulder and tore it off in one go!

Jason raised a brow at the action, and he almost cracked a smile when he heard Esdath speaking through the sword.

’What is that term you normally use? Ah, yes! That must’ve hurt like a bitch.’

Jason huffed from Esdath’s words, and he had to quickly raise another defense as Jaraht flew straight for him with fire burning across his entire body! Jaraht slammed his foot into the ground, and a large ring of fire rose into the air and almost engulfed Jason in its fury! Jason immediately activated the [Emberstorm] skill and he released a massive torrent of fire from his mouth that countered Jaraht’s flames, but Jaraht roared as he jumped through the flames and brought his foot down in a perfect axe kick! The kick literally split the air like a blade, and Jason planted his feet and pulled back his hand as he activated the [Adamantine Armor] once again!

SLAM!

Jaraht’s feet slammed into Jason’s armor-plated shoulder and Jason grunted from the force of the impact, but Jason’s mouth suddenly split into a wide grin as the [Death’s Mirage] surged to life once more!

TWOOM!

Jaraht grit his teeth again and he immediately spun through the air and pushed away from Jason in a way that would throw Jason off balance! Jason was shoved back roughly, and he barely managed to graze Jaraht across the chest with his sword! Although Jason and Jaraht were both SS Rank, Jason knew that in his normal state, he wouldn’t be as powerful as Jaraht. From what Jason had guessed, Jaraht was likely somewhere in the higher levels of the SS Ranks; meanwhile, Jason was still in the lower SS Rank. This would have normally given Jaraht an advantage in their battle, but even with the difference in strength, Jason could feel that he would win this battle! Not only did Jason have the [Death’s Mirage] sword that prevented Jaraht from getting close to him, but Jason also had the support from Katainra that boosted his power by an extra fifty percent! These two factors raised Jason’s power so much that Jaraht had become the underdog in this battle! The wound on Jaraht’s chest immediately began to rot once again, and Jason narrowed his eyes in annoyance as Jaraht reached behind him and grabbed something from there! It was a large black ball that looked almost like a grenade, and Jaraht wasted no time as he tossed it straight at Jason! Jason quickly jumped as the ball slammed into the ground, and he raised a hand to cover his face when it exploded in flames!

KA-BOOM!

Jason slammed his foot into the ground, and he charged forward once he was sure that the shockwave had passed! The blast raised a lot of smoke into the air, so Jason had to split the smoke apart to appear on the other side! But Jason was shocked when he realized that Jaraht was gone! Jason’s brow furrowed, and he looked around him with narrowed eyes to try to see where Jaraht had gone. Did he run away? No, that wasn’t possible. The Dragonborn were all very prideful, so there was no way a General would run away from a fight like this. It was more likely that Jaraht was planning something.

’Try to sense him.’

"Shut up, I know."

Esdath spoke up from the sword, and Jason cut him off in annoyance as he closed his eyes and spread his mana out across the region!

[Mana Sense] has been activated!

Jason’s mana washed over the battlefield like a blanket of power, and Jason immediately sensed everything for more than a mile in every direction! All the mana from the superhumans and dragonriders, as well as the mana from the dragons that were trying their best to fight against the Legion in the air shone like light beacons in Jason’s mind, and Jason brought his focus closer to try and find where Jaraht was. But for some reason, the skill wasn’t able to pick up anything!

All of a sudden, Jason felt all his instincts warning him of incoming danger and Jason brought his hand up to block an attack that almost took his head off!

BOOM!

An insane force slammed into Jason’s arm and Jason grunted as he was thrown to the side! Jason flipped in the air and he landed on the ground easily while looking in the direction where the attack had just come from! What the hell was that? Jason hadn’t noticed anything until the last moment when the attack came! It was almost like Jaraht had vanished into another dimension, and he only came back into this dimension a second before his attack landed!

’Hohoh. He is masking his presence from your senses! That’s a very advanced meditation technique!’

Jason’s eyes narrowed as he heard Esdath speak up, and Jason asked him what the fuck he was talking about. But Esdath huffed as he spoke up in a smug tone.

’You asked me to shut up, didn’t you? I think I’ll listen to you now.’

"Tell me before I fucking exorcise you, you useless old bastard."

’Humph!’

Esdath huffed like a spoiled child, and Jason felt his eye twitch!

PHWOOM!

SLAM!

Another punch flew straight for Jason, and Jason managed to sense it only a moment before it arrived! This time, the punch was powered by flames, and Jason felt the fire scorching his hand when he defended against it! Jason immediately cursed in annoyance after landing a few meters away from where he had just been, and he decided that this was too fucking annoying!

’Fuck this.’

DOON!

Jason’s mana spread over the entire battlefield like a wave and Jason called out with a glare!

"Resurrect!"

The battlefield pulsed with power as Jason’s mana suddenly grabbed hold of every single soul that had been killed by his subordinates, and they all began to pull themselves out from their bodies!
