Chapter 553: Do Not Read

Chapter 200

I came to my senses after a while and returned to the place where the vampires were gathered whereas the injured vampire captain was carried by some werewolves and brought to my side as well. Even though I used the [Breath of Life] on him, he didn’t look very good.

Well, that was what I was hoping after all. I stepped forward, only for a few vampires to bare their fangs at me but the werewolves kept them in control.

“If I wanted to kill him, I would have done it already,” I said as I knelt next to the vampire and fed him the healing potion once again, only this time, with a touch of surprise.

The potion worked instantly and just as the vampire captain came to, I grabbed his hands and said, “I’ve had enough. Of course, if you want to fight, I more than welcome it.”

He heard my words, he processed my words, then he heeded my words. He nodded and loosened his fists. I also let go of him and stood up. I then pointed to the inside of the castle where flickers of space could be felt and said, “Your teleportation circle is working now. Return.”

Puzzled, they all were at my order. Of course, it didn’t make any sense to let go of perfect prisoners but what would I do by imprisoning them? I won’t be able to keep hold of them and then they will be sold as slaves. I wasn’t a fan of slavery and it went beyond my morals.

I would rather kill an enemy than take them in as slaves.

“Why?” The vampire captain still couldn’t help but ask. I smiled and said, “Give a message to Dàghar from me. Tell him, for what he has done, one son won’t be enough. And tell Julianna, the next time I see that spy of hers, things won’t go as well as last time. As for Astaroth, well, what do I need to tell an idiot? Alastair will get the message himself.”

The eyes of the vampire captain went wide as I said the secrets that only the upper echelons of the races knew. Of course, this guy, with his strength, came into that category as well.

“Now that you understand, leave.” I said nonchalantly as I moved to the werewolf king and said, “I know you might be dissatisfied with my methods but I don’t intend to give you any excuse. I did what I did, in anger or not, doesn’t matter. All that matters is that whatever I did, was on my own.”

He stared into my eyes with his blue ones for a while before he said, “A werewolf upholds honor even above their own life. However, when it comes to the pack, the family, no rules matter.”

That was his way of telling me that although he didn’t approve of what I did, he could also understand why I did that.

I nodded and said, “What I did to you would last for a year, which means that next blood moon, you won’t be able to hold yourselves back. However, find me then, and I will help you. Consider it an apology.”

He nodded and said, “Then I will hold it against you.”

I chuckled at his words as he howled, a howl that shook the entire world. It was the first time he had howled and in his howl, there was no power. It was a testament to his control.

After that, the werewolves began to retreat. Once all the werewolves were gone, he turned to look at the retreating vampires and then nodded at me as well. He turned and went into the array that was still up. I went ahead and disrupted its flow, making it collapse on itself.

I turned to look at the castle where Alicia was so that’s where I went.

“I’ll take her back. You lead the envoy back to the human territory. Make sure you don’t cause any accidents on the way back.” I said to Rafael as I entered the room.

“You expect me to leave without a payback?” He asked, dissatisfied from the sound of his tone. I looked at him and said, “Just trust me. Those who did this will pay back more than they could bargain for.”

Rafael’s vengeance nowhere came near mine. Mine was at a scale he couldn’t even imagine.

I picked up the unconscious Alicia in my arms and created the celestial guard around her. “See you back in the empire.”

I then slowly lifted off the ground and made my way to the balcony from where I shot to the sky, destroying the balcony underneath my feet.

The united races table was somber. The leaders on the tables had no answer, no comment to what they had heard. And what they saw two days ago, only cemented their fears.

Mikal had delivered his messages. The messages left with him by Adrian. And that made the entire table worried. The fact that there was an alliance was leaked, was believable. However, no one, not even the confidants of the leaders knew this much information.

“Is he a saint candidate?” The merman on the table asked.

“And do you think the goddess would help him?” The dwarf countered.

“And what if she does? I mean, we have no way of knowing what is actually going on.” The gnome agreed with the merman and said.

“Then that would mean we are puppets.” The dark elf at the table said. She was not much of a talker but even she spoke which proved how dire the situation was.

“It is a sin to question the goddess!” Julianna spoke in anger but the dark elf simply batted her an eye and said, “Then that means we have a traitor among us. You want to go down that route?”

There was a traitor among the seven leaders. That meant that their alliance was at stake. Anyone could be a traitor and with how powerful each of them was, there was no way of telling which one of them was telling the truth.

Julianna knew the risks of that factor so she remained quiet. As for the last two people, Dàghar and Astaroth, they didn’t utter a word. They had been defeated, and not a small blow as well, they were done in quite strong.

The werewolves that attacked the vampire nation, did damage that they wouldn’t be able to recover from for years. No lives were lost but that only made it worse, the citizens of the vampire nations were enraged and questioned why their leaders did nothing.

As for the demons, despite Alastair’s warning, Astaroth had pushed this plan because he felt threatened by his authority, only to end up creating an even bigger mess.

“Is there any way of knowing the progress of the parasite?” Astaroth asked Mikal.

Mikal glanced at Dàghar who nodded and then replied, “Yes, however, we cannot be too sure of the result since it was pulled out too soon. But the vampires, who sacrificed their lives for the parasite, swore before their death that they could only make it past the second seal.”

Astaroth closed his eyes and exhaled sharply, trying to calm himself before he opened his eyes and said solemnly, “Bring in Alastair.”

Calling in Alastair meant another defeat. All the leaders knew that, but as much as their pride didn’t allow them to lower their heads to Alastair, the situation demanded the exact thing.

After a while, about five minutes, the person who went to call Alastair returned and his expression didn’t look good. He was reluctant to speak so Astaroth released a little bit of his mana to motivate him to speak which he quickly picked up and said, “He—He says to tell the esteemed council members that…. If they have a problem, they can solve it themselves.”

A terrifying wave of mana emitted from Astaroth but before it got too much, they heard a person enter who said, “See, that’s why you are all so easy to play with. You get hot in a minute.”

“If you’re done playing your games, shall we get to work?” Dàghar said, obviously dissatisfied with Alastair.

“And I still don’t hear an apology,” Alastair remarked.

“know your place, Alastair,” Julianna said with a frown.

“You know your place. I know mine very well.” Alastair replied coldly. No one at the table liked it but they didn’t say anything, because, at the moment, they needed Alastair.

“What did he give you?” Alastair returned to Mikal and asked.

“Just those messages,” Mikal replied.

“No, he must have given you something else. Something you failed to notice. What was it? I would have known but since someone kicked me out, I can’t tell for sure.” Alastair explained but he made sure to diss everyone in the room at the same time.

“No, I’m sure he gave me nothing but those mes–” Mikal began to say but he stopped midway through as he remembered something.

“What? You just remembered something. What?” Alastair said.

“He— gave me those potions, that were in the human realm a while back. The kind that healed me instantly.” Mikal said.

Alastair couldn’t come up with anything as he heard that but he suddenly remembered, “An eye for an eye, blood for blood.”

“What?” Julianna said as all she could hear was gibberish but Alastair’s eyes went wide when he said, “A parasite for parasite.”

“What?” Dàghar said, not understating what that meant.

“MANA SHIELD!!! ALL OF YOU!!!” Alastair yelled but it was too late.

Boom!!!!

An explosion, that emitted from Mikal, engulfed everyone in it and destroyed the entire room.
