Chapter 556: Do Not Read

Chapter 294

“What?!” Celandine yelled as the handsome young man who was also somehow the oldest man there as well told her that she failed in her mission.

“That is not possible. I made sure to take it during the mayhem.” Celandine said. The young man with dark hair, the pope of the holy church looked at her and said, “And yet here I am, telling you that you failed.”

Celandine went silent. No matter how obnoxious or how special she was. Even with the connection to a goddess, she wasn’t special enough to speak back to the young pope.

The pope looked at her and was about to say something when he stopped. His ring glowed, the green ring on his finger that was the only thing in contrast with his entire attire.

He looked at it. Celandine’s heart shook as well. The glowing of the ring meant that he was speaking. He was relaying new instructions and one of those instructions might as well hold the instruction of acquiring Celandine’s head, without her body, of course.

The ring finally stopped glowing and the pope looked at Celandine. Celandine froze in her spot when the pope said his next words. Words that completely deforested her and confused her, “He says do not worry about it. Failure is a part of life.”

Celandine’s heart calmed down but it was still confused. However, what the pope said next was what made her even more confused because she didn’t know how to feel about it.

“Besides, the one you were up against was not someone a pathetic being like you could win anyway. So do not worry, you were never his match from the beginning.” When the pope stopped, his words left many in the room confused.

Who was the pope talking about? Who was ‘he’ who Celandine, the woman who held power beyond making others envy, wasn’t a match for?

The pope didn’t say anything about that because he himself didn’t know. He didn’t know to whom ‘he’ was referring but whoever it was, ‘he’ wasn’t telling who. So he looked at Celandine, and asked, “Did you encounter someone? Someone special?”

“No one could do anything after the fight ended. They were too busy dealing with it. Other than that, nothing else comes to mi–” Celandine was talking when she suddenly stopped. The pope didn’t fail to notice and asked, “What?”

“My power did not work. In the mayhem, for an instant, my power did not work. At the moment I thought it was due to the mayhem but now, I am not too sure.” Celandine said.

Celandine’s power, a power that even the pope, who didn’t fear anyone, had to look out for. It wasn’t because it was overly overpowered and if he wanted, he could easily kill Celandine and the goddess behind her wouldn’t be able to do anything.

The reason the pope didn’t harm and cherish Celandine was due to her special power. The annoying power he couldn’t go past against. Something that even he wasn’t impervious to.

Yet there was an instance where it didn’t work. How was that possible and was it possible to imitate the condition?

Celandine also knew that if she elaborated any further, she would be giving away a weakness of hers but she couldn’t afford to keep this to herself as well.

That young man was her only supporter. If he were to abandon her, the powers that would come after her and her power would be something even she, with the power of the goddess behind her couldn’t handle.

“The only reason I can think is the girl.” Celandine finally said.

“What girl?” The pope asked.

“The pink-haired girl. The one who broke through to the SS rank and was the man who caused the distraction that allowed me to get the sword. She was close to me when it didn’t work.” Celandine said.

The pope looked at her deep in the eyes. He knew she wasn’t lying and that she was telling the truth but something, something at the back of his mind told him that she was mistaken. It wasn’t how she thought it to be. There was something else. Something else he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

Something that began ever since he had that dream. The dream of his death at the hand of a boy. A boy he had seen before but never met.

“Look for the fifth prince of the empire. Make sure to report his every move to me.” The pope instructed.

A man in the two lines of the hall nodded and said, “It shall be done, your Holiness. I will personally do that.”

A cardinal saying he would do it himself, not send someone to do it was a testament to how important the orders of the young pope were.

The pope nodded and turned to Celandine, “See if there is any way possible for us to get the sword. If we can, then procure it.”

“And if we cannot?” Celandine asked.

“Then we shall consider that mission truly failed.” The pope somberly said and leaned back in his seat.

[You’re crazy]

‘Say something I haven’t heard before.’ I replied to Allison.

[It’s a new level of crazy, even for you]

‘That’s what makes me special.’ Another way to look at it.

[More like a moron]

[A barbaric moron]

[A dumb, barbaric moron]

‘You have something left, then say it now. After this, we will be creating history.’

[History of your stupidity]

In the life of every individual, there comes a time when he has to create a historic moment. Mine was this one.

Well, in this one anyway.

The old men were angry at me. They blamed me for ruining the tournament and the presumed theft of the mentalist sword.

It was a divine ranked weapon so of course, those old men wouldn’t just look past it. Even if I were to offer them great treasures that helped them greatly, potions to do the impossible, or herbs to help them further in life, they would still hold this against me.

So the best way to deflect the attention on you to someone else was exactly what I did at the tournament along with Rose.

Cause another mayhem.

[You mean a war]

‘Same thing but different meaning.’

What I would be initiating wasn’t war but a battle between the powers of the empire. It will weaken it to some extent but the main enemies of the empire were already dealt with.

The seven kingdoms were no longer a threat, the church was hiding behind a giant barrier, and the united races were too busy doing their own thing to worry about the empire at the moment.

In other words, if there was a time to put the old men in their place, it was now. I will have all of their subjects go at each other with the intention of killing and turning the giant capital into a warzone.

The aftermath would be something these old men wouldn’t be able to clean for years to come. Well, until I ascend to the throne after which, there would be a reform where the only person in power would be me.

No noble or lords would hold any power.

It would be like the time before the 12th century on Earth.

“It is ready, Your Highness,” Rose told me as she appeared before me in a flash. The next to appear before me was Sophien who said, “It’s done, babe.”

Rose was back to her pink form which was more on the adorable side and Sophien, with her face covered and only her eyes exposed exuded another type of charm.

‘When do they turn eighteen again?’ I thought to myself.

[You’re about to burn thousands and that’s what you think about?]

‘The curse of a man.’

“And, were there any unnecessary casualties?” I asked.

“I made sure to kill only those you told me to,” Sophien replied while clinging to me and Rose looked at her with envy. Still, she was too shy to be as forward as her so she remained in her spot and said, “I also did as you instructed, your highness.”

“Why aren’t you calling me by my name?” I asked, going completely off topic because that’s what she called me when she was in the angry phase with me.

“I cannot disrespect His Highness,” Rose replied.

Bullsh*t. She was just too shy to do that. Why do girls do that anyway? Why can’t they be so direct with the men they love? They’re theirs anyway.

[Curse of a woman]

‘Ahan.’

“Then, nothing is stopping us from beginning the first phase of attack. As soon as Max is done with the evacuation, we will begin. Let the capital know of the true mayhem tonight.” I raised my arms dramatically and said. Ironically, Rose raised her hands to shoot out lightning behind me as well.

Gave the scene a little originality.

[Also giving out your location]

‘Also giving out our location.’

“Time to run.” I grabbed Rose and held Sophien on my other arm. Rose nodded and we soon disappeared from our spot, appearing in my room in the imperial palace.

And it was just then…

Boomm!!!

BOOMMM!!!

BBOOOOMMMMM!!!

The entire capital shook. I just love this type of destruction.
