Chapter 175: Uneasy
CHAPTER 175: UNEASY
Celia’s eyes narrowed slightly, flicking to Damian, who was standing close behind Nolan. "Oh... but Master, why is he following you? Does that mean he’s going with you?"
Linda folded her arms, also eyeing Damian. "Hey, wait a minute. Is it true? Is he going with you?"
Nolan raised his hand and rubbed the back of his head, looking slightly awkward. "Yeah... he’s going with me. Is there a problem with that?"
"Yes, there is, Master," Linda said quickly, stepping closer. "Take me with you instead."
"No, take me!" Celia blurted out, glaring at Linda. "Don’t take him—take me with you!"
Damian blinked at them both, then straightened his posture with a faint smile tugging at his lips, clearly aware of the tension in the room.
"Hey, you. Is there anything you want to say? You have to say it. Why are you staring at me?" Linda asked, her eyes sharp.
Damian quickly looked away, blushing slightly.
"Oh, you guys... goodbye. I’ll be taking my leave," Nolan said calmly.
"Goodbye, Master," Celia and Linda chorused together.
As Nolan walked out with Damian beside him, Damian let out a sigh of relief.
"Ah... finally. I’m finally out," Damian muttered.
"Wait... is something wrong?" Nolan asked, tilting his head.
"Master... I’m a divine dragon. But for some reason... I don’t know why, I feel terrified of those two," Damian confessed. "Their gaze... it scares me. Sometimes I even wonder if they might come at night to... to attack me. They’re just humans, right? They’re not as powerful as you."
Nolan raised an eyebrow. "Wait... are you going crazy? They’re just humans. Yes, they are. There’s no need to be scared of them."
"Okay, Master. Right," Damian said, nodding.
The two of them continued walking and soon reached the Adventurer’s Guild. As they approached, Ella greeted them warmly.
"Thank you for coming, Master. Mr. Nolan, it’s good to have you here," she said with a smile.
"Yes, I am. I’m here to see the Guildmaster. I’ll be going to his office," Nolan replied.
As Nolan and Damian walked toward the Guildmaster’s office, Nolan noticed him sipping tea. Hearing footsteps, the Guildmaster looked up and stood.
"Hey, welcome," he said warmly.
"Yeah, nice to see you," Nolan replied. "And who is this? Who’s with you?"
"Oh, this is Damian, my new companion," Nolan said.
Lucan stepped forward, extending his hand to Damian. "Nice to see you, and welcome."
As they shook hands, Lucan immediately sensed a tremendous energy radiating from Damian. He took an involuntary step back, slightly terrified.
"Uh... is there a problem?" Nolan asked.
"No... no problem," Lucan said, quickly composing himself. He kept a wary eye on Damian, then looked back at Nolan. "No problem," he repeated.
"Good. I came to see you regarding the problem about those men. I hope they’re jailed already," Nolan said, his tone steady.
"Oh, so that’s why you came," Lucan replied, nodding slowly. "Yes, they’re jailed already. And... they’ve received the necessary judgment they needed to receive."
"Oh, that’s good. I just wanted to hear that," Nolan said, a small smile flickering across his face.
"You actually defeated them," Lucan continued, "but... you shouldn’t have gone all out. Part of the walls were destroyed, even some of the structures in their workshop... all damaged. Even the human you slammed against the wall left cracks."
Nolan let out a faint sigh. "Oh... well. It happened, it happened," he said, shrugging.
"So, when are you planning to go back to the Empire for the tournament?" Lucan asked, leaning back in his chair.
"I think two days from now," Nolan replied calmly. "But before that, I’ll be heading to the Northern side."
Lucan’s eyes shifted toward Damian, who stood a little behind Nolan, his gaze wandering around the office like he was taking everything in. "This young man with you..." Lucan began, his voice dropping. "I can feel something from him. I don’t know what it is, but something about him terrifies me."
"Oh, you mean Damian?" Nolan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," Lucan said. "If you fought him... do you think you would win?"
Nolan’s lips curled into a faint smile. "That’s a strange question."
Lucan shook his head. "No, I’m not that stupid. When I shook his hand just now, I felt something... heavy. Even if our nation’s entire army fought him, they might lose. There’s something strange about him no, something exceptional. Tell me, Nolan... where did you even find someone like this? Because a person like him doesn’t just appear anywhere."
Damian shifted slightly at the words, his golden eyes lowering for a brief moment, but he said nothing.
"Well, yeah, he’s really strong," Nolan said, glancing at Damian, "but you shouldn’t be terrified of him. He means no harm."
Lucan’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Well, yeah... is he an S rank?"
"Maybe something like that," Nolan muttered, unsure.
He glanced to the side, thinking carefully. He’s not even human... but I can’t tell him that. The thought stayed buried.
"Celia and Linda were the ones who reported to me," Lucan continued, his tone calm. "They said someone tried to attack them."
"Good, they did exactly what I asked," Nolan said. "Did the Royal Knights go to my house to pick up those adventurers?"
Lucan shook his head. "No. They didn’t. The next day people were already gathered around the merchant’s shop you smashed, wondering what happened. They found the owner tied up — looked like he’d been taken down right there. Turns out he’s been doing this to others, too. He used low rank goons to do the dirty work, but the S rank crew you beat only confessed to the job they carried out for him. They’ll stay in prison for a long time."
"Good," Nolan said. "As long as they’re locked up, I don’t care."
Lucan leaned forward. "Don’t get complacent, though. Luthar is strong. I just wanted to remind you."
Nolan waved a hand. "Stop bringing him up. If it came to that, I could deal with him."
