Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1516 - 1568: A Bit Reluctant
CHAPTER 1516: CHAPTER 1568: A BIT RELUCTANT
Li Yifei rolled his eyes and said, "Should I think about how unlucky I am? I originally came to Dubai to have fun and relax, but ended up having to kill so many people, thrilling through the night, and now that I’m finally safe, a woman is still second-guessing me."
Wu Shuwei imitated Li Yifei’s expression, rolling her eyes, and said, "How would you like me to thank you?"
"You are empty-handed right now, what could you possibly offer as gratitude?"
The words were slightly provocative, and Wu Shuwei, being a woman in her thirties, clearly understood.
In the middle of the desert, the man beside her was both a savior and a killing demon, possibly even a psychopath, yet she was strangely not worried about her safety. When Li Yifei said that, she never thought he’d actually do anything to her.
This inexplicable trust made her feel a slight sense of rebellion; she had been solitary for many years, her parents barely involved in her life or thoughts, so why should she develop a sense of trust towards a man?
Therefore, Wu Shuwei quickly lifted her chin and looked at Li Yifei with a slightly provocative gaze, saying, "I don’t believe you would violate me."
"Oh..." Li Yifei chuckled, turning to glance at Wu Shuwei, and said in an admonishing tone, "You know, you shouldn’t speak to a potential criminal like that because you might provoke them. Maybe they didn’t have that intention, but your words stir them up. Also, for those who stay up late, this is the time when desires are the strongest."
"I just don’t believe it," Wu Shuwei’s heartbeat accelerated, she bit her teeth, swallowed, and said stubbornly, "I have a gun in my hand, if you touch me, I’ll kill myself."
Li Yifei shook his head helplessly and said, "Do you believe that I can subdue you before you have time to shoot, and with just one hand?"
"Don’t believe it!" Wu Shuwei said, shifting her body to the other side, watching Li Yifei with caution.
A small object suddenly flew over and hit Wu Shuwei below her chest. She only felt a slight pain, then her body couldn’t move. Her brain could still function, her thoughts were there, her vision and hearing intact, she could feel, but her limbs wouldn’t obey her commands. Even her mouth could move, everything above her neck could move.
Wu Shuwei’s eyes widened in terror as she looked at Li Yifei, opening her mouth to ask, "What did you do to me? Why can’t I move?"
"Just acupoint aiming, proving to you that if I wanted to do something to you, you wouldn’t be able to escape at all. So, girl, don’t speak to me in that tone, and don’t doubt me. I have plenty of women at home who are more beautiful than you." With a brake, Li Yifei stopped the car, turned to Wu Shuwei and said, "Don’t put yourself on a pedestal, like the whole world revolves around you pretty ladies. I saved you because you are my compatriot, that’s all. Otherwise, I’d be comfortably lying in a luxury villa with several beauties attending me, not playing shootout games in the middle of the night, driving in the desert."
Maybe Li Yifei’s words were a bit harsh, Wu Shuwei listened, her eyes wide. She just wanted to tease Li Yifei, deliberately saying that, not actually thinking Li Yifei would do anything to her.
Thus, a sense of grievance grew within Wu Shuwei. She knew what Li Yifei said was true, but having it pointed out like that was a bit hurtful. She snorted heavily and said, "Release me from the acupoint."
"In five minutes, it’ll release on its own."
Then Wu Shuwei remained silent for five minutes, not speaking at all, her eyes not even focusing on Li Yifei.
Five minutes later, the acupoint released automatically, and Wu Shuwei could move again. She glared at Li Yifei, saying nothing more, leaning back in her seat, eyes gazing out at the vast, endless desert through the window.
After a moment, Wu Shuwei closed her eyes and fell asleep. Li Yifei glanced at her, shook his head with a smile, thinking he had taken things too seriously with a woman, which wasn’t very wise.
Covering Wu Shuwei with a blanket given by an Arabian uncle, Li Yifei also parked the car in a wind-sheltered spot, reclined the seat, and rested.
The night air in the desert was chilly, and soon the temperature inside the car dropped. When Wu Shuwei awoke in the morning, she found herself cradled by powerful arms, half her body pressed against the person in front.
It took Wu Shuwei a few seconds to recall the events before, then she let out a scream, struggling to move away from Li Yifei’s embrace.
Li Yifei also woke up; he was just dreaming of hugging Su Yiyi, about to do something intimate, when he was jolted awake from his dream. Li Yifei was slightly displeased, frowning as he looked at Wu Shuwei and said, "What’s with the noise so early in the morning."
"I...What did you do to me? Why were you holding me!"
"How are you so sure I was holding you and not that you crawled into my arms yourself?" Li Yifei rolled his eyes, got up to find water, and took a large gulp from the bottle.
Wu Shuwei adjusted her clothes with both hands and found that they were still tidy, with no signs of tearing, and she still wore a blanket, adding an extra layer of protection.
But even so, being pressed by a large hand on her chest, even through the blanket, left Wu Shuwei feeling a sense of shame.
Seeing Wu Shuwei still unsure, Li Yifei explained again, "It’s cold in the car. You came over yourself yesterday and said you wanted me to hold you. Your exact words were, ’Yifei, you’re so warm, hold me tight, I’m cold.’
The scene last night was exactly like that. Otherwise, why would Li Yifei bother with this trouble? He has abundant True Qi; his body can generate enough heat on its own. While Wu Shuwei, even with a blanket, was still huddled from the cold, sleeping uncomfortably, and ended up snuggling into Li Yifei’s arms in a daze during the night.
The morning position was comparatively better. Last night, she had her head directly against Li Yifei’s chest, her arms around his waist and neck, in a full-on embrace stance.
After a moment of silence, Wu Shuwei somewhat accepted this reality. She blamed herself a bit, hearing Li Yifei eating over there, while Wu Shuwei’s stomach growled. The desert morning was much colder, especially after waking up. Wu Shuwei looked pitifully at the skillful yet weird Li Yifei across from her, unsure how to ask for food.
Li Yifei didn’t trouble her, leaving some of his food and handed the rest to Wu Shuwei.
After breakfast, Li Yifei continued driving; there was still plenty of fuel in the tank, enough to drive three to four hundred kilometers.
The car didn’t have a satellite positioning system, but Li Yifei understood. These terrorist cars wouldn’t dare install such things. That would just provide the military with targeting points; a guided missile shot over, and Ayurhan would have to go see Allah.
Therefore, driving was based on feeling. An hour later, Li Yifei found a standard road and rushed onto it.
The Knight Fifteen was simply too eye-catching. Once it appeared, all other cars became toy-like. Even in a place full of wealthy people, like Dubai, it stood out conspicuously.
He intercepted a car, asked for directions, and Li Yifei and Wu Shuwei blinked, glancing at each other. They had unexpectedly stretched over two hundred kilometers; drive a bit more, and they’d cross the border into Oman.
After thanking the person who gave directions, Li Yifei returned to the car, shook his head, and said, "Let’s gradually head back. Are you in a hurry?"
Wu Shuwei bit her lip, slowly released, and said, "I have matters at the company; originally, there was an important meeting today."
"Oh, then let’s head back. I was thinking if you’re not busy, we could leisurely drive back and explore a bit," Li Yifei said.
Wu Shuwei merely nodded, saying nothing. It was unclear if she was agreeing with Li Yifei or expressing her wariness.
By afternoon, they returned to the Dubai city area, Wu Shuwei directly directing Li Yifei to a certain address, guiding him while en route.
Soon, they arrived at the hotel Wu Shuwei had booked. Before getting out of the car, Wu Shuwei unexpectedly felt a little reluctance. If not for the morning’s incident that put her and Li Yifei in a cold war-like atmosphere, she would certainly have asked for Li Yifei’s contact information or invited him to stay.
But now, she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
Standing in front of the hotel, Wu Shuwei looked at Li Yifei, hesitated for a long time, and finally said, "Can you give me your phone number? After I’m done, I’d like to invite you for a meal, to thank you."
Li Yifei chuckled and gave his contact information.
Wu Shuwei carefully memorized it, nodded, and said, "I’ll call you once I’m done."
"Hehe, take care of yourself. Since someone’s tried to make a move on you once, there might be a second time."
"Ah... I know, I’ll be careful, thank you." Wu Shuwei’s face slightly changed, but she quickly calmed herself, saying, "The company here has special bodyguards. As long as I’m at the company, I shouldn’t have to worry about safety."
Li Yifei shrugged his shoulders and said, "That’s good, go upstairs. I’m leaving too, goodbye."
Wu Shuwei released her bitten lip. Seeing Li Yifei turning to leave, she sighed, causing Li Yifei to stop and turn around. Wu Shuwei said, "Why don’t you stay here? Alone in Dubai, you might not know where to live or what places to visit..."
"There’s the wealthy prince, see you later." Li Yifei waved his hand, turning quickly towards the parking area.
Watching Li Yifei’s retreating figure, Wu Shuwei felt a bit reluctant. Although she had only truly known Li Yifei for one day, starting from the flight, they had experienced moments of life and death together, making her feel she might never forget this mysterious man for the rest of her life.
His bloodiness, his brutality, and his gentleness, along with that heroic aura.
