CHAPTER 1520: CHAPTER 1572: THE EMPLOYER’S IDENTITY

In the morning, Li Yifei woke up on time, turned on his computer, and checked his emails. Last night before sleeping, he had someone investigate the email about hiring a person to kidnap Wu Shuwei.

The reply contained a lot of information. Li Yifei glanced at it, then went to the bathroom. After washing up and making a call to the front desk to order breakfast, he returned, sat on the sofa with his computer, and started reading.

Ten minutes later, Li Yifei put down the computer, stood up, stretched, and looked out at the sea view from the gigantic floor-to-ceiling window, smiling gently.

The data not only mentioned the identity of the person who paid to kidnap Wu Shuwei, but it also brought out Wu Shuwei’s identity.

Along with Angelina and Brooks from Oak Petroleum Company, as well as Wu Shuwei, all of them were kidnapped and employed by one person.

This person’s identity is Japanese. Even though the email was encrypted several times, Li Yifei’s hired expert managed to crack it and hacked in reverse to steal a large amount of data.

Japan is the third-largest oil consumer in the world, first being the United States, second is Huaxia. Japan almost doesn’t produce oil resources itself, relying mostly on imports. Over seventy percent of Japan’s imported oil is dependent on the Middle East, mainly from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, and Qatar.

This time, the oil field discovered in a certain area of the UAE is not prepared for exploitation by the UAE itself. The reasons being high costs and its use as a political exchange resource. So, it is being auctioned and put out for bidding.

Huaxia was the first to get the news and invested a lot of resources early on, originally thinking this time it was a sure win. However, Dubai suddenly changed their mind, causing Huaxia to fall into a predicament. Retreating would mean heavy losses, while advancing might not guarantee winning against other countries’ energy companies.

Some of the issues are clearly due to the UAE’s breach of contract, but there was no way to hold them accountable.

It was similar to the situation understood before, but what surprised Li Yifei was that Wu Shuwei turned out to be the main person in charge of Huaxia’s oil collaboration project this time.

This really was beyond Li Yifei’s expectations. This woman, only thirty-three years old and looking particularly young and pretty, had already climbed to such a high position.

Her capabilities need not be questioned; someone in such an important position is neither an idiot nor a fool.

Li Yifei didn’t look into Wu Shuwei’s resume. These were all things he saw in the emails.

A very formidable woman, Li Yifei commented. Although her performance over the past couple of days hadn’t shown much of her brilliance, it’s known that women naturally know how to act, especially the more beautiful they are, the better they are at deception. This wasn’t Li Yifei’s saying; it’s what Zhang Wuji’s mother said.

The Middle East is so chaotic, yet Wu Shuwei managed to oversee negotiations there with those oil tycoons and local magnates, showing her skills. Of course, she was plotted against this time, and Li Yifei saw the names mentioned in the emails, and a glint of vindictiveness flashed in his eyes.

He could disregard the oil ownership and ignore the Middle Eastern riches, but using such a vile method against a compatriot, especially since she’s a woman, and the perpetrator being Japanese, made Li Yifei feel displeased.

What a coincidence, he came to the Middle East, to Dubai, for this negotiation. He was originally going to handle it himself but ended up meeting Wu Shuwei on the plane, as well as the prince tycoon, both of whom are involved in this negotiation.

Wait a second, the prince tycoon went to Japan, so what was he doing there?

Unintentionally, Li Yifei sent another email. After waiting for a while, a reply came back, stating that the prince tycoon Sashar simply went to Japan for fun. Moreover, he first went to Korea, then transferred to Japan. Various flight details were listed, even the hotels he stayed at.

Li Yifei raised his hand to rub his chin, thinking about what to do next.

After breakfast was delivered, Li Yifei ordered two servings. He heard sounds from Wu Shuwei’s room, went over to knock on the door, and said through the door, "Finish getting ready and come out for breakfast."

The sudden voice startled Wu Shuwei, who had just gotten up. She was stunned for a full half-minute before she managed not to scream.

She had gone to bed late last night, working until two or three o’clock before finally going to sleep in exhaustion. But she had set an alarm because she had things to do today, and very important ones, so she had no choice but to get up.

In her grogginess she even forgot about Li Yifei’s existence. Her body had gotten up, but her brain was still asleep. She took off her nightgown, stood in front of the mirror, and rubbed her face hard to wake up quickly.

Then, she heard the sudden knock and Li Yifei’s voice. Wu Shuwei’s eyes popped open, and she woke up instantly, almost screaming out, but after dozens of seconds, she remembered Li Yifei’s presence.

Her heart was pounding, and goosebumps covered her skin.

"Can you hear me? Hurry up, or it’ll get cold." After waiting for a bit without a response, Li Yifei said again.

Wu Shuwei responded with a ’huh’ and said, "You eat first."

There was a man outside, just separated by a door. Wu Shuwei looked at herself in the mirror, completely uncovered. Two seconds later, she quickly ran to the bathroom.

When Li Yifei heard the response, he turned towards the dining table, then he heard a thud, followed by Wu Shuwei’s exclamation.

Li Yifei turned back around and asked at the door what happened.

Wu Shuwei was sprawled on the floor; she hadn’t cleaned up after showering last night, leaving some water at the entrance. She ran too fast just now, stepped right out, and did a split, then fell over.

Her foot, leg, butt, back, and even the back of her head, were all hurting and she was nearly in tears from the pain.

She is a very steady woman, calm in nature, and always takes her time with things. Since childhood, it has been this way; her grandpa once gave her a piece of calligraphy as a gift, which said ’remain calm in the face of major events’, praising Wu Shuwei for her composure.

So, all these years, no matter what difficulties Wu Shuwei faced, she would first steady herself and look for solutions gradually.

Times when she was as embarrassed as during the past few days have been very rare over the years.

Why push? Wu Shuwei shouted in her heart, if no one had pushed her, wouldn’t she not have fallen, wouldn’t she not have been kidnapped? Wouldn’t she have avoided the hail of bullets?

Li Yifei knocked on the door again and asked, "I heard something fall over, are you okay?"

There was still no sound from inside. Li Yifei frowned, reached out to twist the doorknob, and as he expected, it was locked.

"I’ll count to three, if you don’t respond, I’ll break the door down." Li Yifei said this out of concern that something might have happened to Wu Shuwei. However, inside the bathroom, there was no way Wu Shuwei would let Li Yifei come in. If he came in, wouldn’t he see her completely naked? Especially now when she’s in a compromising position, with her legs wide apart. Hearing Li Yifei start counting, Wu Shuwei hurriedly shouted, "No need to come in, I’m fine."

"Really okay?" Li Yifei asked.

"I’m fine..." Wu Shuwei gritted her teeth, supported her body with her hands, and slowly sat up.

"Oh, okay then. I’m going to have breakfast, hurry up."

In the bathroom, Wu Shuwei almost cried. Waiting for the pain to subside a little, she tried to move her body, finding her ankle was okay, her toe had hit something, her thigh and buttocks were bruised, her back was fine, and her head was okay, just a bit sore.

Clenching her teeth, she no longer blamed Li Yifei. What she had thought earlier was not Li Yifei’s fault. On the contrary, if it weren’t for Li Yifei, she would have been in real trouble.

She washed her face with cold water, and this time Wu Shuwei was completely awake. She sniffed, glancing furiously at the spot where she had fallen.

Turning on the shower, she had a quick rinse, then hobbled out, laboriously dried her body, and found the clothes she bought yesterday. After changing, she slowly walked out.

Li Yifei was almost done eating. Hearing the door open, he turned his head to look, raised his eyebrows, and asked, "Did you fall just now?"

"Mm..." Wu Shuwei replied in a low mood.

"Are you okay?"

Wu Shuwei glared at Li Yifei, wanting to retort with, ’I’m like this, is it still okay?’

After taking a few steps, Wu Shuwei couldn’t say those words, she just shook her head gently. Immediately, she felt pain in the back of her head, as if something was wobbling inside.

Li Yifei stood up to help Wu Shuwei pull out a chair for her to sit down and handed her the portion of breakfast meant for her, saying, "You look like it’s quite serious."

"I’m alright." Wu Shuwei said.

"Then take your time eating, I’m finished." Li Yifei smiled, not knowing what incited this woman’s unnamed anger early in the morning, so he just ignored it.

Wu Shuwei didn’t eat much; after a few mouthfuls, she stopped and struggled to stand up, seeing that Li Yifei was already dressed and ready to go out.

"Where are you going?" Wu Shuwei asked.

"Hm?"

"I said, where are you going?"

Li Yifei spread his hands and said naturally, "To have fun, of course. Didn’t I come to Dubai for fun?"

"Oh, then you go." Wu Shuwei had initially wanted to ask Li Yifei to give her a lift, but when he was about to go out, she said nothing more.

Li Yifei nodded and said, "My phone number is on the table; if you need anything, you can call me, I’ll be back tonight."

Wu Shuwei responded with an ’Oh’, and Li Yifei opened the door and walked out. Before leaving, he asked for the room password.

Once Li Yifei was gone, Wu Shuwei immediately deflated, couldn’t straighten her back, and wanted to sit for a while, but her butt hurt just touching the sofa.

"It’s over, today’s hard-earned appointment with the Minister of Oil, how am I going to go?" Wu Shuwei was on the verge of tears; her face was full of the helplessness of being unable to cry even when wanting to.

It was a meeting she had managed to arrange with great difficulty last night. The other party initially refused to see her because Wu Shuwei had missed the meeting yesterday. Last night, after asking many people for help, she finally got the opportunity to meet with the minister.
