Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1553 - 1605: Parsons Defects
CHAPTER 1553: CHAPTER 1605: PARSONS DEFECTS
Li Yifei didn’t kill the two of them, not because he was kind, but because killing them would be useless. Their deaths would disturb the situation and could delay the signing of the contract.
Li Yifei walked back slowly, holding a glass of wine in his hand. He took a small sip. It tasted good, and the liquid slid down his throat, the slight spiciness stimulating his esophagus, ironically weakening his desire to kill.
Parsons swallowed. He didn’t know what Li Yifei did after going into the inner room, but he figured the outcome for those two Japanese guys wasn’t good...
Parsons couldn’t move. It was all because the other party touched a point on his body, making him unable to do anything. This unknown fear left Parsons dripping with sweat after just a short time, overwhelmed by an immense sense of fear.
Not every soldier has such good psychological strength. Someone like Parsons, who didn’t rise through the ranks from a grunt, was scared half to death by Li Yifei’s acupoint aiming. As Li Yifei slowly approached, Parsons wanted to retreat.
Parsons of course remembered the ten billion US dollar bet. If it were a few billion, Parsons might have swallowed his pride in the face of Li Yifei’s reputation as the legendary king of special forces. But ten billion? He simply couldn’t pay that; he’d have to beg for food if he did.
So he thought about defaulting, hoping the other party wouldn’t mind too much.
Drinking with a few Japanese tonight, he drank too much. When they brought up this matter, Parsons was tempted. They would pay while he only needed to help with contacts.
They drank too much, underestimating Li Yifei’s strength, thinking that the killers they hired could take him and his people down. But in the end... they met a tragic end, leaving a trail for Li Yifei to follow to their doorstep.
Standing in front of Parsons, Li Yifei sat down, drained his drink, and then looked at Parsons with a slightly cold expression, saying, "Your Highness, I’m the one sitting while you stand. That’s not quite right."
Parsons blinked his eyes, used all his strength, but still couldn’t say a word, sweat pouring from his forehead.
Li Yifei chuckled warmly and said, "Your people aren’t dead, but they’re also useless."
Fear filled Parsons’ eyes. The assassins hadn’t troubled Li Yifei; it seemed they’d all been dealt with. Now Li Yifei was here, at his door. What should he do? Could he really be expected to pay the full ten billion? Isn’t that a death sentence? Parsons’ eyes darted around, thinking quickly.
Li Yifei snapped his fingers, sending a stream of air towards Parsons’ chest, and suddenly Parsons felt his body could move again.
"Sit down. I think the two of us need to chat." Li Yifei pointed to the sofa beside him and said to Parsons.
Parsons, regaining his mobility, hesitated for a moment, then slowly sat down, supporting himself on the edge of the sofa. There was a woman’s bra there; Parsons brushed it away with his hand before sitting. He looked up at Li Yifei, a conflicted expression on his face.
Li Yifei poured himself another drink, placed the bottle on the table, and said, "Have a drink to calm your nerves."
Parsons looked at the enigmatic Li Yifei but didn’t dare to say anything. Although there was a handgun beneath the sofa, right under his seat, with Golden Eagle’s combat ability, Parsons felt that even if he managed to grab the gun, he wouldn’t have a chance to fire.
Might as well have a drink, Parsons thought, looking at the wine, bending to retrieve the bottle and pouring himself a glass, downing half of it in one go.
Li Yifei looked at Parsons with amusement and said, "Your Highness, we’re practically acquaintances by now. Isn’t it time we discuss serious matters?"
Parsons swallowed, placed the glass down, and with his gaze evasive, asked, "Discuss what?"
"You see, why is His Highness pretending not to understand? I can pretend tonight’s incident didn’t happen. It wasn’t much trouble for me, just cost me some energy and a few hours of sleep. However, in a few days, I’ll be returning to my country. Isn’t it time to pay back the money owed?" Li Yifei tilted his head and said.
Parsons opened his mouth, staring blankly at Li Yifei. After a few seconds of silence, as if wanting to say something, a crash came from the bedroom, startling Parsons, while Li Yifei merely glanced back, saying calmly, "Ten billion is indeed no small number. But I’ve never joked around. If you lose to me, you lose, and there’s no room for reneging!"
"Uh..." Parsons clasped his hands together, looking conflicted, saying, "Ten billion is really a large sum. I can’t gather it in a short time..."
"I understand."
"I’ll try my best, alright? Although I have some assets, they’re hard to liquidate quickly."
"Let’s lighten up a bit," Li Yifei chuckled and asked, "A prince like you, mixed up with some second-rate Japanese fellows, doesn’t that bother you?"
Parsons showed a trace of embarrassment, glanced at Li Yifei, and still said, "Because they agreed to give me some kickbacks, so I helped out. Besides, we’ve hung out a few times, built some rapport, and it’s a bit hard to refuse."
"Hmm!" Li Yifei nodded in understanding, and continued, "So, are you saying that just because of this, you’re openly going back on the deal and tearing up the previous contract?"
"It’s not just because of that; there are more factors behind it. Mainly, some Western countries don’t want this to fall into Huaxia People’s hands. I happened to know about this, so I did someone a favor and also could make some money..."
"Don’t make yourself sound so innocent. As far as I know, this deal isn’t that big. While Western countries may not want it, they also wouldn’t mobilize too many resources to intervene. So, if it weren’t for you, the contract would probably have been concluded long ago." At this point, Li Yifei’s eyes suddenly grew fierce, landing in Parsons’ eyes, causing his body to tremble inexplicably. He hadn’t expected Li Yifei to know so much.
It was just before stepping out that Sashar told Li Yifei about it, so Li Yifei’s resolve became even stronger.
Parsons nodded awkwardly and said, "I was wrong, I shouldn’t have acted recklessly. As for the money, I will try my best to find a solution, but can you give me some time?"
"No." Li Yifei’s expression changed, and Parsons suddenly felt the temperature in the room drop. He forced a stiff smile and said, "Well... then I’ll give you part of it first, but it won’t be much."
"Actually, the money issue can be negotiated as long as you accomplish another matter." Li Yifei said.
Intuition told Parsons that the other matter would be difficult to handle, but he still nodded and said, "Please tell me..."
"The oil goes to Huaxia. I can spare those Japanese, and your money can be postponed." Li Yifei said.
Parsons’ heart jolted; it indeed revolved around this. He rubbed his hands together, pondering for a long time before looking up to ask, "Do you... really need that oil field?"
"What do you think?"
"About the money issue..."
"I’ll give you a choice!" Li Yifei raised his finger and said to Parsons.
Even if Parsons didn’t want to listen, he had to. Although Li Yifei didn’t say what would happen to him, Parsons had no doubt that Li Yifei would directly kill him.
One hour later, Li Yifei swaggered out of Parsons’ home, got into the stolen car, and slowly drove back to Sashar’s home. By now, the sky had brightened, and the sun was about to rise.
Actually, the time spent discussing with Parsons wasn’t long. Later, to placate Parsons, Li Yifei shared some drinks with him, talked about life, and shared his views on the world. Anyway, in the end, Parsons drank a lot again.
But this time, he didn’t indulge wildly. Instead, he carefully escorted Li Yifei to the door. Watching Li Yifei leave, Parsons then forcefully rubbed his face with both hands and staggered back inside.
Having changed his mind, he realized he had to do some things.
Moreover, Li Yifei didn’t force him to do many things; he simply exchanged that billion for a stake. This stake, on the surface, could be controlled by Parsons but was actually transferred to Li Yifei, as agreed by the two.
In fact, Parsons only needed to put out ten billion to occupy about twenty percent of the shares. For him, this was indeed the smallest loss, so Parsons happily agreed.
Between a hundred billion and ten billion, which is more? Parsons could figure that out.
Having decided, Parsons didn’t stay there long, returned to the house, glanced at the two unlucky Japanese, hummed to himself, and muttered, "Can’t blame me for this. In the face of life, what’s a bit of money? Let alone just some drinking buddies."
With that remark, Parsons left.
Li Yifei also returned home. Several night-shift security guards saluted him respectfully and let Li Yifei pass.
Li Yifei returned to his room; it was already very bright outside. He stood at the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the sun rise.
In the room next door, Wu Shuwei frowned, her face tinged with an unnatural blush, seemingly dreaming a spring dream, though of what exactly wasn’t clear. Suddenly, she whimpered, "Bad man, don’t..." breaking the silence in the room, but fortunately no one else heard the words.
In the room opposite, Sarama was already awake and getting out of bed. Nearly every year she rose at this time to exercise and perform some necessary training. Upon waking, she seemed to hear Li Yifei’s door open. Sarama pressed her ear to the door for a while, hearing nothing, pouted, turned around, and went back to change into sportswear, preparing to go downstairs to jog and exercise.
In the room, Li Yifei had already washed his face, lay down on the bed, adjusted his body, ready to supplement some sleep.
