Chapter 1554 - 1606: Not Giving Up Until Reaching the Yellow River
CHAPTER 1554: CHAPTER 1606: NOT GIVING UP UNTIL REACHING THE YELLOW RIVER
Two hours later, Li Yifei also woke up. After tidying himself up, he went downstairs and saw Wu Shuwei, Angelina, and Sarama waiting for him. Sashar was nowhere to be seen, apparently already out. As soon as Sarama saw Li Yifei coming down, she immediately stood up, swayed her waist, walked over, gave Li Yifei a sweet smile, and said, "You’re awake!"
Wu Shuwei slightly pursed her lips. She initially wanted to stand up, but seeing Sarama stand up, she decided not to.
Angelina didn’t have many thoughts; she slept well last night and felt quite relaxed.
Li Yifei walked down, patted Sarama on the top of her head, and smiled at the group, "You all woke up early."
"It’s not early. It’s already past nine." Angelina glanced at her watch and said.
Wu Shuwei said, "Hurry up and come eat. Everyone’s waiting for you; we’re already hungry."
"Oh, sorry, I’ll be right there." Li Yifei responded and walked over.
After breakfast, Sarama originally wanted to invite Li Yifei to her house. Although a princess’s status might not compare to a prince’s, Sarama has some businesses, enough for her expenses.
However, Wu Shuwei was preoccupied with today’s signing ceremony, appearing slightly distracted. Angelina spoke to her two or three times, but Wu Shuwei didn’t reply. However, Angelina understood her mood and sat beside her, holding Wu Shuwei’s shoulder, comforting her, "Wu, don’t worry too much. Some things you can control, some you can’t. Just do your best, so you won’t regret it."
Wu Shuwei looked at Angelina with somewhat vacant eyes, barely nodded, and hummed in response.
Sarama also noticed her expression, quietly walked over and asked, "Sister Wu, what’s bothering you?"
Wu Shuwei smiled faintly and shook her head, saying, "It’s nothing, don’t worry about me."
"Well... if there’s anything I can help you with, Sister Wu, don’t hesitate to ask." Sarama said. Seeing Wu Shuwei like this, Sarama decided not to extend her invitation.
Wu Shuwei nodded, not saying anything else. Even if Sarama could help, Wu Shuwei didn’t plan to ask for her help, and don’t ask why; she just didn’t want to do it.
Li Yifei sat nearby, looking calm and not showing the concern Wu Shuwei had. He completed his tasks last night, and if things didn’t work out, they’d find another way.
After more than ten minutes, Wu Shuwei suddenly stood up, walked over to Li Yifei, and said, "Come with me; I can’t make peace with it unless I see it for myself."
Angelina stood up and said, "I’ll go with you."
Li Yifei asked, "If they sign today, going would be in vain. Do you want to face disappointment again?"
"But if I don’t see it, it’ll be harder for me to make peace. Just... accompany me to have a look!" Wu Shuwei pleaded.
Li Yifei didn’t reply immediately; his phone vibrated a few times. He took it out and read the message. After a few seconds, Li Yifei looked up and said to Wu Shuwei, "Let’s go; I’ll go with you."
"Hm?" Wu Shuwei frowned. He was unwilling before, but now, after checking a message, he’s agreed?
Sarama, listening from the couch, quickly stood up, looked at Li Yifei and asked, "Golden Eagle, where are you going?"
"To attend a signing ceremony," Li Yifei replied.
"I want to go too!" Sarama immediately said, then feeling a bit embarrassed, added, "I mean, can I go with you? Being alone at home is boring."
"Of course, let’s go quickly; it’s about to start over there." Li Yifei chuckled, flicked Sarama’s forehead, and called the other two women, saying, "Let’s go."
The signing ceremony was taking place in a commercial building a few kilometers away. The Japanese side even sent a team of journalists for interviews, while Dubai sent a trade department official to attend, making it rather grand.
There were dozens of people on site, including guests, security personnel, and representatives from both sides. Last night, Tonohei and Honda Takeshi were heavily intoxicated; they woke up with headaches and barely remembered anything about Li Yifei’s incident. Even if they did remember, they’d attribute it to hallucinations from the intoxication, rather than reality.
The two stood together, looking quite proud. As a country with high energy consumption but little domestic supply, Japan relies entirely on imports. Securing an oilfield project was a major achievement and brought significant recognition. Honda Takeshi was excited; this visit to Dubai relating to an energy project gives him bragging rights back home.
Tonohei was even happier. Though his methods weren’t too honorable, securing the project from Huaxia People creates substantial political capital for him, leading to significant gains.
The two even started to flatter each other mutually; Honda Takeshi envisioned the future, while Tonohei contemplated promotion and salary increase, even joining the power core of the group.
The only minor issue was that the two of them had a bit too much fun last night. They weren’t sure what they had bumped into, but both had some neck pain, as if they had a stiff neck. However, it wasn’t a big deal. As long as the contract was signed, the two of them could do whatever they wanted.
Honda Takeshi, this Second-Generation Heir, was even contemplating something more thrilling for the evening, perhaps inviting more women over for an uninhibited gathering or something like that.
Li Yifei was leisurely driving Wu Shuwei and the other two women on the road, taking his time, while Wu Shuwei grew increasingly anxious and had urged Li Yifei several times, but he simply said it was fine.
Angelina couldn’t say much, and Sarama simply didn’t know what was going on with the suspense, so she didn’t say anything but instead asked for the address and then helped Li Yifei with directions.
After a great effort, Li Yifei finally arrived at the bottom of the building, and no sooner had he stopped the car than Wu Shuwei impatiently opened the door and ran out.
"Slow down, wait for me!" Angelina followed, calling out to Wu Shuwei, who was already jogging towards the building, and chased after her.
Li Yifei was trailing behind unhurriedly with Sarama as they went upstairs.
Summoning her courage, Sarama walked alongside Li Yifei and asked, "Golden Eagle, can I hold onto you? Just for a little while..."
Li Yifei glanced at Sarama, saw her blushing face and expectant eyes, nodded, and said, "Sure, but remember to let go when there are people around; I don’t mind, but it won’t be good for you."
"Mm-hmm, thank you for thinking of me." Sarama nodded repeatedly, her small hand slipping through Li Yifei’s arm to hold onto it.
"What’s Sister Wu anxious about? Can I help her?" Sarama asked.
Li Yifei shook his head and said, "No need, it should be resolved already."
"Oh, really, don’t hesitate to ask me for help. I would be very happy to help you; really!" Sarama said, looking up earnestly.
Li Yifei nodded, chuckled, and said, "Of course I believe you, but it’s nothing major. Alright, let’s go upstairs!"
Sarama responded with an "Oh" and quickly added, "Then next time you need help, be sure to let me know!"
"Alright, I will!" Li Yifei nodded.
The two of them got on the elevator and arrived on the forty-fifth floor, which was the venue for the signing ceremony. There were more people on the scene, all journalists invited by the Japanese side, including those from Dubai and Western reporters. Tonohei’s purpose was clear: he wanted to publicize the matter, so more people knew about their achievements, thus ensuring more capital when they returned home.
Especially appearing on foreign television was considered a great honor for most Japanese people. The two had discussed it thoroughly before making this decision.
The signing ceremony wasn’t scheduled to start until eleven-thirty. These journalists, who had been paid, had already received the contract content in advance and began drafting their reports. These things could be pre-determined, and when the time came, some footage would be recorded and aired on the news.
Wu Shuwei and Angelina entered the venue first but were stopped by security at the door. During their dispute, Tonohei came over, and upon seeing the two women, he sneered and gestured for the two security guards to step aside. He looked them up and down and shook his head, saying, "You two really won’t give up until you reach the Yellow River, but fine, since you want to see the final result, go on in. After all, today it’s our Japanese company that’s signing, not the American, nor Huaxia."
The two women looked uneasy, but Wu Shuwei still wanted to go in and see the signing with her own eyes.
As for Angelina, she said, "Don’t celebrate too early; even if the contract is signed, it doesn’t necessarily mean success."
"Haha, that will be the funniest joke I’ve heard today!" Tonohei laughed aloud and said, "May all your dreams come true."
Dreams come true, huh? Just exited from the elevator, Li Yifei and Sarama heard Tonohei’s words. Li Yifei smirked, his eyes slightly narrowed.
Next to him, Sarama saw Tonohei, her eyebrows immediately rising, and she said to Li Yifei, "Why’s this annoying guy here? Why are we coming here?"
"To watch a bunch of annoying guys make fools of themselves," Li Yifei replied.
"Oh?" Sarama’s eyes revealed a hint of excitement. She clung to Li Yifei, continuing to ask, "Can you tell me what it is?"
"Just keep watching; knowing in advance would spoil the fun." Li Yifei whispered.
They spoke as they walked, and when Tonohei saw Li Yifei coming too, his eyes darkened. How was this person not dead? What were those killers doing last night?
Tonohei had rushed to the venue upon waking in the morning and hadn’t had time to ask the killers the outcome, but he had assumed that Li Yifei must be dead by now, with so many people sent to kill one person. How could they fail?
