Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1568 - 1620: Encounter and Pursuit
CHAPTER 1568: CHAPTER 1620: ENCOUNTER AND PURSUIT
Strictly speaking, this isn’t really a highway encounter but a one-sided crush. The kidnappers weren’t prepared, and in just one or two minutes, three out of ten kidnappers in two cars were taken out, and seven were captured, all with varying degrees of injuries.
Angelina, who got out of the car afterwards, pointed at one of the kidnappers and shouted to Li Yifei, "It’s him, he and two others captured Wu, I remember very clearly!"
"Hmm." Li Yifei signaled that he understood and walked towards the kidnapper identified by Angelina.
The kidnapper’s mask had already been torn off, and Li Yifei frowned slightly as he looked at him. This person didn’t have an Arab face; instead, he looked more like a Westerner, with a face shape akin to someone from Northern Europe.
The captured kidnapper was still defiant, glaring at Li Yifei and the others. Before Li Yifei could speak, the kidnapper spoke first, "It’s you!"
The kidnapper recognized Li Yifei, his eyes finally showing some panic. Originally, as a mid-level member of the Vulture Organization, he wasn’t too afraid of being caught. The Dubai police were relatively lenient with people from these organizations as long as they didn’t infringe on each other. But now, seeing Li Yifei, the kidnapper panicked.
This person was the one they needed to deal with, and now the tables had turned against them first.
"Oh, you know me, that’s good," Li Yifei grinned, staring at him. Sarama also came over, giving the kidnapper kneeling on the ground a harsh look.
After saying those two words, the kidnapper regretted it because now he had exposed himself.
Li Yifei tilted his head, glanced at his watch—time had slipped away again. He calmly asked, "Tell me, where is the person?"
The kidnapper gritted his teeth, lowering his head, refusing to open his mouth.
Sarama snorted and said, "You don’t have to talk, but your companions will."
The kidnapper still kept his teeth clenched, and when a few companions were brought over, their identities were already uncovered before questioning began.
A soldier came over with a knife, handing it to Sarama. Sarama took the knife, frowned at it for a few seconds, her expression somewhat solemn. Li Yifei turned his head to look at her, sensing something amiss from Sarama’s expression.
Sarama passed the knife to Li Yifei and explained, "These people are from the Vulture Organization, a somewhat troublesome group."
"Vultures?"
"Yes, it’s a terrorist organization that roams across several countries. Their numbers... uncertain. They rarely infiltrate the UAE, so we seldom interact with them. This time..." Sarama paused, looking at Li Yifei. Li Yifei said, "It’s okay, go on."
"This time, for some reason, they kidnapped Wu, which is strange. This organization rarely takes on such jobs; they usually disdain such small tasks."
Hearing this, Li Yifei raised an eyebrow, chuckled, played with the knife, suddenly turned around, and thrust the knife into the kneeling terrorist’s shoulder. The knife went all the way in without piercing through, steering clear of bone and lodging into the flesh.
The kidnapper—no, now he should be called a terrorist—didn’t even have time to react. A few seconds later, excruciating pain hit him, and he opened his mouth wide, howling at the sky. People on both sides held his arms, preventing him from struggling, leaving him to howl helplessly without being able to pull out the knife.
When Li Yifei stabbed him, he even used a bit of True Qi, which rushed through the terrorist’s body, causing greater pain.
Li Yifei’s cold voice came, "You have one minute to spill everything. I don’t have time to waste with you here."
Hearing this, Sarama raised her hand, pointing the dark muzzle at the terrorist’s head. This was clearly more than a mere threat; if Li Yifei nodded, Sarama would truly fire that shot.
Li Yifei didn’t stop Sarama; he only watched the terrorist, who was intimidated by his aura. The terrorist hesitated for half a minute, glanced at his teammates, and finally spoke, revealing everything.
After listening, Li Yifei snorted coldly, clearly angered. He gritted his teeth, "Damn Little Japan!"
The terrorist confessed everything, from the Japanese hiring the Vulture Organization to the brazen return to Dubai to capture Li Yifei in this car, confessing the entire plan.
So Li Yifei was somewhat irritated. He glanced at Sarama and whispered, "Is killing an issue?"
Sarama’s expression was also icy as she shook her head, "Killing a few terrorists is a military achievement instead!"
Li Yifei, without saying another word, grabbed the gun and fired repeatedly, directly killing three terrorists. The exploding gunshots scared the remaining terrorists senseless, including the one who had just confessed everything. Coming from a civilized country, despite now following terrorism, he rarely had to be this brutal.
The remaining few terrorists alive at this moment are probably all thinking, who the hell is the real terrorist here? Even they need to justify a murder with a crime, but this Eastern man in front of them doesn’t even bother with justifications...
Li Yifei wasn’t inclined to show any mercy to people like this; leaving a few for guidance was enough, while the others would still need to be guarded.
Sarama displayed her mental fortitude at this moment; she showed no emotion facing Li Yifei’s sudden outburst. She raised her hand, and a few soldiers came over to lift the bodies of those Li Yifei had killed onto a vehicle.
"Take the remaining ones and pursue them. Helicopters, full speed ahead!" Sarama commanded calmly.
Li Yifei said, "Leave one for me, I’m getting on."
Sarama was slightly taken aback, but then she nodded and said, "Alright! One helicopter for each of us!"
Of course, this didn’t mean the two of them would each fly a helicopter, though helicopters indeed were faster than ground vehicles. Li Yifei and Sarama each got on a helicopter, and they took off, with the ground troops following behind.
Li Yifei made a cautious gesture to Sarama, sitting in the co-pilot seat, and opened the navigation system, speeding off to pursue them.
Honda Takeshi and Tonohei were not feeling well at this moment. In fact, both of them were scared out of their wits.
Initially, they thought this was just a simple kidnapping case. Who would have thought it would escalate into such a situation? Upon learning that the military was dispatched to rescue, Honda Takeshi almost wet himself. He grabbed the Vulture leader’s clothes and asked him what was going on, why things had turned out this way when it was just a simple kidnapping, yet it had attracted the military.
The call clearly said there was a force over a hundred strong, plus several helicopters coming for them.
Tonohei didn’t look any better; he subconsciously glanced at the vehicle Wu Shuwei was tied up in, then quickly shook his head, convincing himself it couldn’t be that woman bringing all this trouble, probably something went wrong.
The Vulture leader pushed Honda Takeshi away, immediately ordering a reconnaissance, while starting to prepare for an evacuation with his men. Though the number of people he brought this time wasn’t much, just over twenty, which wasn’t nearly as many as the last time Li Yifei dealt with the Anchor Organization. So he definitely wouldn’t face the army head-on, especially within foreign borders.
"Evacuate? What about us? You can’t leave us here!" Tonohei blocked the way, protesting. He was answered by the black muzzle of a gun, which immediately silenced him. The Vulture leader coldly said, "Either come with us or stay here."
Honda Takeshi shivered, hurriedly pulling Tonohei and asking, "If we go with you, can you guarantee our safety?"
The leader gave him a sinister look without speaking, just getting into the car.
Honda Takeshi dared not ask any more questions, pulling Tonohei as they got into the car too, watching as someone brought Wu Shuwei along, shoving her into the vehicle.
These people began their escape. The vehicles were all off-road, moving at a decent speed on such terrain, though it was a bit bumpy.
Watching these people flee in panic, Wu Shuwei, although unable to hear their conversation, read something from each person’s expression. They were flustered, especially the two Japanese who had hired her abductors; their faces now looked the color of pig liver.
Li Yifei came to rescue me! That was Wu Shuwei’s first thought, a surge of great joy welling up in her heart, causing her body to tremble slightly. Yet she controlled herself, stayed silent, and didn’t even lift her eyelids, maintaining her silence as if she were invisible. This was her form of self-protection.
Otherwise, amidst their panic, if they did something to her, she’d be in big trouble.
The fear had been palpable earlier when they left her alone in the car. Wu Shuwei felt terrified, almost in despair, listening to the Japanese threats and seeing the people armed with advanced weapons left her feeling uneasy.
Truly unfortunate, to encounter two kidnapping incidents in such a short time. Wu Shuwei didn’t know whether to feel lucky or utterly cursed.
She figured out who orchestrated both kidnapping events, but what good did it do her? Without anyone coming to rescue her, her situation was quite grim.
So after deducing that Li Yifei had arrived, Wu Shuwei was incredibly happy. Words couldn’t describe how overjoyed she was. If Li Yifei saved her again this time, how many times would that be?
This man truly seemed to be fated to cross paths with her... Wu Shuwei didn’t know how to describe it.
This joy made her overlook the fear, overlook the violent bumping while sitting in the back of the car. For sure, he would come and definitely save her, Wu Shuwei thought to herself, secretly clenching her fist to boost her confidence.
In the desert, a pursuit was unfolding. The Vulture Organization’s people wanted to quickly cross the border. Once they were across the border, they could lose those who were chasing them. They could force their way through, but the army couldn’t just cross borders as they pleased, or it would involve international disputes.
And Li Yifei and the others, following the route given by that terrorist, were pursuing them.
