Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1795 - 1856: Gun Pointed at Li Yifei
CHAPTER 1795: CHAPTER 1856: GUN POINTED AT LI YIFEI
Seeing Li Yifei swiftly take down four of his men, Black Dog, the gunman, was filled with rage. He pointed his gun at Li Yifei, finger on the trigger, seeming ready to fire if Li Yifei dared to move.
Black Dog was his nickname, used so often that no one remembered his real name. In their circles, mentioning Black Dog was enough for everyone to know who he was.
He procured the gun himself and often showed it off. The key was that even the police would often turn a blind eye, as Black Dog worked for the Li family’s company.
These kinds of people are typically kept by any real estate company—not for other reasons, but they come in handy when acquiring land, and are great for security. To some, they’re just dogs, but to others, they’re untouchable big shots.
Normally, these workers wouldn’t dare cross people like Black Dog. They’re only doing it now out of desperation, forced into this confrontation.
Black Dog wasn’t this arrogant before, but now backed by Handing Real Estate, which itself is backed by the mighty Li family, he felt invincible. Whenever he caused trouble and the police showed up, he just mentioned his affiliation, and many officers let him go. Among common folks, the Li family’s name was even more effective. In no time, Black Dog thought of himself as untouchable.
He upgraded his car, his girlfriends multiplied, and his entourage grew, transforming him into a true street boss.
This time, Black Dog was tasked with handling the migrant workers demanding their wages. The order was to keep things under control—no money, and no halting work. Black Dog had to make these people quietly go back to work, as they were being fed and housed at no cost.
Seeing the workers push down the gate and rush in, Black Dog’s plan was to catch the main troublemakers and teach them a harsh lesson, thinking the others would calm down. But unexpectedly, Li Yifei was among them today.
Thus, this scene unfolded. Black Dog watched Li Yifei take down his men one after another, realizing he had encountered a tough opponent. These desperate workers might have a fierce fighter among them. So today, Black Dog decided to use Li Yifei as an example.
He truly intended to shoot. At worst, he wouldn’t aim for lethal spots—maybe shoot his leg or arm a couple of times. It wouldn’t kill him, and at most, he’d have to pay some medical bills. No big deal.
With the Li family’s impressive backing overhead, Black Dog felt that even if he shot and killed a troublemaker, there’d be no serious consequences.
Li Yifei stopped in his tracks, still wearing that expression of slight displeasure yet withholding too much emotion. When he turned around to face Black Dog pointing a gun at him, Li Yifei’s demeanor remained unchanged. He had been held at gunpoint countless times in his life, each encounter exceedingly dangerous, yet even without his skills now, he was unafraid.
But who gave this man the audacity to point a gun at him in front of so many people? Li Yifei squinted slightly, looking towards the setting sun, and discarded the baton he grabbed from elsewhere.
Black Dog initially brandished the gun to intimidate the charging workers, but in their excitement, many forgot about it. Now, seeing him aim directly at the unknown yet formidable young man, many workers shivered, truly recognizing the immediate danger.
Someone couldn’t help but shout, "Don’t shoot. Let’s talk it over."
Others almost covered their eyes, unable to bear watching the scene unfold.
Black Dog wore a fierce expression, twisting his neck with a cracking sound. The slow motion seemed learned from TV, meant to project his power.
He slowly approached Li Yifei, head tilted, eyes darting, gun unwaveringly aimed at Li Yifei. It was the Li family, the immensely powerful Li Yifei, that gave him the courage—emboldened him—to even consider shooting at Li Yifei. But he had no idea that the person he was aiming at was indeed Li Yifei.
The dark barrel emitted a cold aura, with a slight gunpowder scent, indicating it wasn’t its first discharge. At least dozens of shots had been fired to produce such a strong smell.
"Go on, make a move." Black Dog stopped two steps in front of Li Yifei, posing arrogantly, tilting his chin upwards, and said aloud. If he had a cigarette dangling from his lips now, it would complete the image, Black Dog thought to himself.
His henchmen, except those lying groaning on the ground after being knocked down by Li Yifei, watched with triumphant admiration, hoping to someday be as impressive as Black Dog.
They felt a long way from Black Dog’s level, yet they couldn’t resist the allure of a life on the edge.
Li Yifei’s eyes remained slightly squinted, as if dazzled by the setting sun, or perhaps... he wasn’t bothered by Black Dog or his gun at all. Regardless, Li Yifei’s expression remained unchanged, his muscles barely tensed although he knew that gun was real and loaded. As soon as Black Dog pulled the trigger, the bullet would fulfill its purpose in fractions of a second.
But the real question was, could Black Dog successfully fire that shot?
Could he? Li Yifei chuckled coldly and casually said, "I’d like to know who you are."
You want to know who the hell I am? Black Dog turned back, showing a disdainful smirk, and said, "Alright, you’re calm. I’ll give you a thumbs up for that. I’m Black Dog, the boss of this area!"
"Yes, this is our Brother Dog!" his henchmen shouted in unison, as if meticulously rehearsed.
The call greatly pleased Black Dog, as it was indeed orchestrated.
A local boss, an unheard title in Mile City, clearly influenced by Hong Kong movies. Li Yifei had no reaction to it. If he chose this path, could anyone in the province dare challenge him?
Even living as an upstanding citizen, many still regarded Li Yifei as the ultimate crime boss.
Similarly, Li Yifei didn’t know of a so-called local boss like Black Dog, for Black Dog wasn’t worth his attention. But today, standing here, not only representing the Handing Group and the Li family in opposing these wage-seeking workers, but also personally threatening Li Yifei with a real gun, Li Yifei wasn’t going to let Black Dog off the hook.
Then, hearing Black Dog sneers and insistently tell Li Yifei, "Now, I want you to kneel!"
The workers widened their eyes, unfamiliar with Li Yifei but aware of his innocence. Seeing him dragged into this predicament today, the workers felt deeply sympathetic.
