Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 1810 - 1871: Who Bumped Into Whom
CHAPTER 1810: CHAPTER 1871: WHO BUMPED INTO WHOM
The sun was shining brightly today, and the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. Li Yifei wore a white casual shirt with casual trousers below, complemented by a pair of light-colored casual leather shoes, while Song Lianyao wore a dress paired with low-heeled sandals.
As they passed by Chu Xiaoyao’s house, the little girl happened to be by the window. Seeing the two people walking out hand in hand, she hurriedly pushed open the window, shouting, "Hubby, Lianyao sis, where are you going?"
"We’re going to pick up Lianyao’s parents. You just stay home!" Li Yifei waved his hand, effectively cutting off Chu Xiaoyao.
Chu Xiaoyao rolled her eyes and let out a soft hum, saying, "Go ahead, hmph, I never said I wanted to tag along."
Song Lianyao, on the other hand, said, "Why don’t you come with us?"
"Nope." Chu Xiaoyao shook her head and then mischievously added, "Even if you weren’t going to pick up uncle and auntie, I wouldn’t interrupt you two’s good deeds. Hmph, be careful not to dirty the car."
Good deeds? Dirty the car? Walking a few steps outside, Song Lianyao finally understood. The little girl thought they were going out to do something sneaky... Even if it was that kind of thing, there’s no need to go out specifically for it.
The two got into the car. Li Yifei specifically chose a business car; it was spacious inside and they drove to the address Song Lianyao had given.
The Mountwest Hotel was located at the end of Shangde Road in Mile City, at the intersection with another Jingde Road, bearing the number one. Song Lianyao’s parents were staying here. They returned with Song Lianyao yesterday, wanting to meet Li Yifei and apologize to him. After all, such a big thing happened that the two elders were worried Li Yifei would blame Song Lianyao.
Ever since they learned their son-in-law’s identity, the attitude of the two elders changed. They no longer looked at him with critical eyes; on the contrary, the two elders started being very nice and cordial in their dealings.
As for Li Yifei no longer helping Song Family’s relatives, the two elders were not overly concerned. They were more worried if Song Lianyao’s status in the Li family would be affected, even though she had already given birth to a child.
However, they didn’t feel comfortable staying directly in the Li family’s house, in case... the son-in-law, or the Li family’s women, said something, which would be even more embarrassing. So Song Lianyao didn’t insist and let the two elders stay here.
But after she got home, she found out that Li Yifei hadn’t returned. She waited half the night and learned that Li Yifei came home completely drunk, so drunk he passed out immediately. This worried Song Lianyao. She thought it was because of something related to her cousin that made Li Yifei drink too much.
Song Lianyao’s parents were not too worried. After staying for a night, they thought their daughter would come to pick them up in the morning. However, they waited and waited, and their daughter still didn’t come; there was no message either. The two elders were worried that Li Yifei was angry, and they started to feel anxious. Nearly noon, they realized they either had to check out or extend their stay.
Although staying for a night only cost a little over nine hundred, the two elders were quite distressed. What if they just paid, and then the daughter came? It would be a waste, and the hotel wouldn’t refund them.
So, the two finally decided to check out with their luggage and find a place to eat first, while waiting for news from their daughter.
Just as they got into the elevator, carrying a suitcase, and pressed the button for the first floor, the elevator doors opened at the first floor. As soon as they were about to step out, they saw a figure rush in, directly bumping into Song Lianyao’s father, bringing the suitcase with him. The impact was strong, and the old man fell to the ground.
At the same time, the person who bumped screamed, the bag she was carrying fell to the floor, and she bounced back, landing hard on her backside.
"Old man, are you okay?" Song Lianyao’s mother hurried to help her husband up. The old man was directly hit by the other party, right on the ribs. She wasn’t sure what was in the other person’s bag, but it was hard and hit him in the chest. The old man felt like his ribs were almost broken. With his wife’s help, he braced himself and stood up, grimacing in pain.
Both of them were kind-hearted. Ever since their daughter was with Li Yifei, they had been doing good deeds, hoping their daughter would do well in the Li family. So even though they were hit, they didn’t get angry. Instead, the old man looked at the woman who had also fallen and kindly asked, "Girl, are you okay?"
The woman who bumped into them appeared to be around thirty years old, dressed flamboyantly, with a thick layer of makeup on her face, and eyelashes at least two centimeters long. Her figure wasn’t exactly plump but gave off a rather full feeling. She was momentarily stunned when she landed on her backside. As a wave of pain shot through her tailbone, she suddenly reacted, her face showing anger. She widened her eyes, and when she saw it was two old people, she immediately shouted angrily, "Are you blind? Didn’t you see me, almost killed me."
"Well...," the two elders paused. Song Lianyao’s mother said, "You’re the one who bumped into us."
"Screw you, old hag was standing here fine, it was this old bastard that hit me!" The woman wailed. After shouting, something seemed to occur to her, and she quickly got up from the ground, picked up her bag, and unzipped it, her face changing as if she’d been stepped on the tail. She immediately turned around and shrieked, "You two old blind folks, can’t you see where you’re going? Look, you broke my antique!"
The woman held her open bag for Song Lianyao’s parents to see. Inside, there was indeed a pile of broken porcelain pieces, although you couldn’t tell what it had been; it was definitely shattered. But... it wasn’t their fault, after all. Song Lianyao’s father then said, "Girl, it’s not our fault either. We were walking out of the elevator, and you just dashed in without looking!"
"Exactly, even though your father got knocked down, he didn’t say anything. Why are you turning it around on us?" Song Lianyao’s mother also said. The woman’s rude words made both elders feel a bit uncomfortable.
When the woman heard this, she squared her eyes and pointed at Song Lianyao’s parents, shouting, "I hit you? Screw you, you old fart, why aren’t you waiting to die quietly at home instead of running around here? I don’t care, you broke my porcelain that I just bought back, costing over two hundred thousand, and you smashed it. You have to pay for it!"
The first floor was a lobby with security and receptionists. The argument caught their attention, and several people came over. They had seen earlier how the woman rushed in from outside and dashed into the elevator without stopping, getting bounced out.
They heard the argument as well. One security guard said, "Lady, it’s really not..."
The moment the security guard began speaking, a nearby receptionist tugged at him. The guard looked over in confusion, and the receptionist kept signaling at him, quietly saying, "Don’t speak out of turn."
The guard still didn’t understand, but he didn’t dare speak again. Just then, they heard the woman continue, "Right, you all are here too, be witnesses for me. These two old coots broke my antique and now they want to deny it. If they don’t pay up, I’ll call the cops."
Hearing the woman threaten to call the police, the two elders felt bewildered. They were just taking an elevator ride; who could have guessed they’d run into something like this, especially with such foul language from the woman.
