CHAPTER 1813: CHAPTER 1874: SO WE’RE COMPARING CONNECTIONS?

"I guarantee, you’re finished too!" Li Yifei said coldly. He already knew what was going on, and he believed that Song Lianyao’s parents wouldn’t lie. So the fault wasn’t with the two elders, but rather with this ugly woman and the pretty boy. Li Yifei even felt a murderous intent rise within him.

"Screw you." Zhang Han, who was no stranger to street brawls, wasn’t afraid of this at all. Anyone could talk tough and brag, and he could easily throw out a hundred such phrases. So he didn’t think Li Yifei could do anything to him, especially since Wang Lizhen was there. Her father was the Deputy Director of the Education Bureau, a man with real power. Who wouldn’t be deferential toward a person in charge of education?

This was one of the reasons Wang Lizhen was so arrogant. She knew her father knew many officials and had a lot of important people coming and going from their home.

You dare hit my man? You’re tired of living! Wang Lizhen opened her mouth, wanting to retort, but before she could, the clarity of their vision suddenly dimmed, and a loud slap resounded. Wang Lizhen instinctively closed her eyes, but it was not her who screamed painfully, but Zhang Han, who had just cursed. After getting back up from the ground, he was struck down again by Li Yifei, landing heavily with a loud thud.

"How dare you hit someone? On what grounds do you hit someone? I’ll tell you, you’re finished. I swear you’re finished," Wang Lizhen wanted to curse but managed to hold back after seeing Zhang Han’s miserable state.

But Li Yifei wasn’t polite with her. He stepped forward, got in front of her, and slapped her across the face. This is what happens when you slander my father-in-law and don’t apologize after hitting someone.

Slap! After delivering the slap, Li Yifei couldn’t help but take a step back and shake his hand. It felt as if he had slapped a powdery surface, leaving a cloud of white dust. God knows how much stuff this woman had smeared on her face; even after hitting her, there was no sign of red swelling.

Perhaps it was swollen, but the layers of makeup were too thick to tell.

"Murder! Murder! Are you all blind? Don’t you see someone hitting me? Hurry up and catch him!" Wang Lizhen, far from quieting down, bounced up from the ground as if electrocuted and shouted at the several security guards who had stepped back.

Given Wang Lizhen’s status, even though the security guards didn’t like her, they still had to give a hand now. Otherwise, they’d surely face big trouble in the future.

The three security guards exchanged looks and walked up to Li Yifei with troubled expressions, saying, "Sir, it’s not right to hit people, especially in a hotel!"

"I know, but I didn’t hit a person," Li Yifei sneered, looking at them. "Let me tell you all, you’d better go back to where you came from. I won’t hold you accountable for your previous inaction, but if you dare take one step forward, I promise you’ll regret it."

This... The security guards were immediately put in a tight spot. They had assumed the other party would give them some face, but they hadn’t expected Li Yifei to be so tough. One of the security guards gritted his teeth, stomped his foot, and turned to walk away without a word. The other two glanced at each other, just about to go, when Wang Lizhen shouted, "Do you dare disobey me? I’ll tell you, my dad is Wang Dabao, the Deputy Director of the Education Bureau. If you don’t help me now, he’ll fire all of you later."

Li Yifei squinted his eyes, shooting out a cold glare. The daughter of a mere Deputy Director dares to be this arrogant? Does she really not know what ’death’ is?

At this, even the security guard who had walked away stopped, realizing that compared to their jobs, Li Yifei’s threat was much less significant. Although the security guards also believed the two elders weren’t at fault, they also thought Wang Lizhen was the real issue.

"Very well, we’re comparing backgrounds now, is it?" Li Yifei nodded lightly. On the sofa, Song Lianyao’s mother held her daughter’s hand with a worried look, seemingly asking if Li Yifei was alright over there. Song Lianyao gently shook her head, not too concerned about the unfolding events. In Mile City, not many things could trouble Li Yifei.

As both sides were standing off, with security guards hesitating about whether to intervene, several people entered from outside. Leading them was a slender, balding man, flanked by a pot-bellied middle-aged man, with three or four people in tow.

They walked into the lobby, chatting and laughing, but their expressions changed upon hearing the commotion by the elevators. They immediately turned their attention there. The lanky man frowned and said, "Little Song, get rid of these people quickly; it’s so noisy and disorderly. When the leaders arrive and see this, your hotel’s partnership with the Education Bureau will be over."

The one addressed as Little Song was actually the pot-bellied middle-aged man, also visibly displeased. The leaders’ arrival was a much-anticipated event, and taking good care of them could ensure more partnerships with the government.

Although sometimes they might end up with IOUs or unpaid bills, it still saved them a lot of trouble, and at least some people wouldn’t dare investigate them here. So, Song Xing hurried over, calling out as he went, "What’s going on? Security, what are you standing around for? Get these people out of here! Damn it, what are you paid for? This mess!"

This shout turned Wang Lizhen and the others around. Seeing Song Xing and the lanky man, Wang Lizhen’s swollen face lit up with excitement. She raised her hand toward the lanky man and cried out, "Dad, it’s me. Come quickly. Boo-hoo, I’ve been beaten!"

It turned out that the lanky man being escorted in was Wang Lizhen’s father, Wang Shoucheng, Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of Mile City. Despite his balding head, he looked quite energetic, around fifty, no more than fifty-five. Stuck at the deputy director level at this age made him somewhat awkwardly positioned. Moving up to a full director position was possible, but if not, he could only remain a deputy director until retirement.

So recently, Wang Shoucheng had been trying to figure out ways to secure a better position, lest he retire as a mere deputy director.

Wang Shoucheng also recognized his daughter, frowning even more as he approached, hearing that his daughter had been hit. His eyebrows almost knitted together. Having married and had children early, he was only in his fifties, yet his daughter was already thirty. Naturally, he doted on her dearly, as parents always see their children as the best. Though he knew his daughter could be unreasonable sometimes, she had never caused any significant trouble. Her private life wasn’t exactly modest, and her spending might be excessive, but he and his wife were quite diligent in making money. It wasn’t as if it wasn’t to be spent.

Wang Shoucheng strode over, his piercing eyes surveying the scene. He quickly scanned past the security guards, lingered briefly on Zhang Han, who had just gotten back on his feet, and finally focused on Li Yifei.
