Super Strong Little Divine Farmer
Chapter 60 - 060: Ice Type For You
Watching Murong Bai being ignored by Lin Chen, Xue Ying finally couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"Mr. Wealthy seems like the little farmer isn't buying what you're selling, yo!" Xue Ying teased Murong Bai before following Lin Chen into Area C.
Murong Bai was furious, being mocked by a country bumpkin in front of the woman he adored was simply a great humiliation for him.
As Lin Chen walked, he used his x-ray vision to check out the raw stones in the hall, sure enough, the quality here was far superior to that of the other two halls, and he quickly selected three raw stones.
Seeing Lin Chen casually pick up three raw stones, Xue Ying almost certainly concluded that Lin Chen had no clue about gambling on stones and was entirely relying on luck.
Although Xue Ying didn't know much about gambling on stones, she knew that selecting them involved looking, touching, and feeling.
What Lin Chen was doing didn't resemble selecting raw stones at all; it was more like buying cabbages at a vegetable market, utterly random.
To come across a green stone among almost a thousand stones was an incredibly small chance.
"Lin Chen, are you sure about these three?" Xue Ying asked, somewhat worried.
"Just these three," Lin Chen nodded with a confident face.
Meanwhile, Murong Bai very carefully picked up a raw stone, scrutinized it for a long while, then touched it with his hands, and eventually, he even closed his eyes as if feeling something.
"Come on, are you selecting a raw stone or choosing a wife? Do you need to make such a fuss?" Lin Chen couldn't help but say, glancing at Murong Bai beside him.
Murong Bai opened his eyes and glared fiercely at Lin Chen, "What do you know, kid? This is called professionalism. You'll cry later with the way you select stones."
"Hey, dare you make a bet with me to see whose chosen stones are worth more after they're cut? The loser pays for the winner's stones," Lin Chen said with a smile.
Upon hearing Lin Chen's words, Xue Ying couldn't help but be shocked and said softly, "Lin Chen, Murong Bai has specialized training in stone gambling, how can you possibly win against him?"
"Fine, a man's word is his bond, and I won't go back on it. Since you've said it, you're not allowed to back out," Murong Bai said, excitement written all over his face, seemingly afraid that Lin Chen would change his mind as he hastily agreed to the bet.
In his eyes, betting with Lin Chen was like handing himself money. He had also checked the three stones that Lin Chen held, and their color did not seem indicative of yielding any green, so he was very confident about the bet.
"No problem, I won't back out," Lin Chen said with a slight smile, possessing the x-ray vision, gambling on stones with him was simply masochistic.
Murong Bai's three stones, Lin Chen had already seen them very clearly, indeed all contained green, but they were far inferior to the three in his possession, even one of Lin Chen's random picks could match the value of Murong Bai's three stones.
Hearing about the bet, many curious people gathered around, and both men took their raw stones to the Stone Cutter's area.
"Kid, my three stones are worth over three million, do you have the money to bet with me? You won't be unable to pay up if you lose, right?" Murong Bai scoffed.
Lin Chen smiled slightly and took a bank card out of his pocket, "This one has four million on it, if I lose, it's all yours."
Murong Bai was stunned to hear that Lin Chen could start with four million right off the bat.
Wasn't he supposed to be a farmer? How could he casually toss out four million; could it be that this guy was growing gold?
Lin Chen looked at Murong Bai and provoked, "Do you have the money? Don't be all talk and no cash!"
Murong Bai, fuming with rage because of Lin Chen, also took out a bank card and slapped it on the table, "Here's five million, if I lose, it's all yours."
In Murong Bai's heart, he was almost certain of winning, so even though he put in one million more than Lin Chen, he seemed to have the upper hand, and in his mind, no matter the amount, it didn't matter because the money would still end up being his.
"Rich people really know how to show off, gifting away five million just like that," Lin Chen looked at the bank card with sheer joy.
Among the onlooking crowd, many knew Murong Bai. In this stone gambling field, he was somewhat of a legend, with a success rate of producing green stones from raw stones at an astonishing seventy percent, a remarkable feat in the world of stone betting.
"This young man dares to bet with Murong Bai; it looks like he's sure to lose."
"Look at the three stones he picked, no luster, no appeal, you can tell they're just waste at a glance."
"He's simply splurging wealth, blindly giving away money to others."
Almost everyone watching had already decided that Lin Chen was destined to lose, even Xue Ying beside him was sweating bullets on his behalf.
"Let's cut the stones together!" Murong Bai said, proud as could be.
"Alright, let's start." Lin Chen smiled, handing the three raw stones to the Stone Cutter.
The two Stone Cutters began their work nearly simultaneously, and everyone held their breath watching the raw stones in their hands.
Ten minutes passed, and suddenly someone shouted, "Look, it's turning green!"
Indeed, the slice of jade in Murong Bai's raw stone had revealed a hint of crystalline, translucent green.
"Incredible, he really is the Jade King's disciple."
"This piece is definitely worth a lot, Murong Bai has won for sure."
Listening to the crowd's praises, Murong Bai cocked his head with a smug look on his face, thoroughly enjoying the feeling of being flattered.
"Kid, gambling on stones with me is the stupidest thing you've done in your life," Murong Bai said with an air of certainty.
Lin Chen looked at Murong Bai as if he were an idiot. "We'll see who the fool is, you might need those words for yourself in a bit."
"Hmph, we'll see how long you can keep up your tough talk," Murong Bai scoffed.
Though Murong Bai's stone had shown green early on, it was just a small piece of jade. Nevertheless, his stone, worth over a million, had doubled its value and could be sold for two million immediately.
Meanwhile, Lin Chen's raw stone was still being polished, not showing the slightest hint of change.
"You might as well stop grinding and just cut it, it's clearly just a piece of trash." Murong Bai sneered.
"Exactly, no green after so long, it must be a dud," the people around chimed in.
Lin Chen remained calm, smiling and saying, "What's the rush? Isn't there still a half-piece left?"
"Hmph, it's so small, even if it turns out green, could it be worth as much as mine? You think you can grind out an 'ice' type?" Murong Bai mocked.
"Look, it's green!" Before he could even finish, someone shouted in surprise.
"This color... it seems like it's 'ice' type!" someone next to him exclaimed in shock.
Murong Bai's complexion instantly turned pale as he stared intently at Lin Chen's raw stone.
"Damn, it really is 'ice' type." Murong Bai almost wanted to slap himself; how could he have jinxed himself with his own words?
Amidst the crowd's shock, a piece of 'ice' type jade the size of a duck egg appeared before them all.
Looking at that crystalline, translucent piece of jade, everyone was stunned, the value of this 'ice' type was surely above thirty million.
"How can this kid's luck be so good!" Murong Bai muttered, staring blankly at the piece of jade, nearly dumbfounded.
"Lin Chen you're amazing, to have produced such a large piece of 'ice' type," Xue Ying said, her fervent gaze on the crystalline jade, excitedly hugging Lin Chen.
"Ying, this piece of 'ice' type jade, I'm giving it to you," Lin Chen said softly, taking in the faint scent of her fragrance.
"What?" Xue Ying was stunned, Murong Bai beside her was completely dumbstruck, and the entire stone-gambling venue fell into an eerie silence!
"Ding-dong, congratulations to the host 'Lin Chen' for his grand gesture, earning 1000 popularity points."
"System, that works too? You mean squandering can earn popularity points?"
"Please, do not provoke; this system is the most popular star system, not a squandering system."
"I think it's more like the strongest star system for showing off."
