Chapter 779: Chapter 26 Royal Family Scandal (5)_2
Without the power of the secular world, he could not wield any conventional authority. Without the crown and empty titles, it meant he could only bear his name with no other titles. He could not be a King, a Duke, or a Prince, and not even a Knight with any official title. Hence, every Starlight Knight had their own title except the bearer of the sword, who was always the Seventh Knight.
“Not fulfilling the above oath would lead to rejection by the Final Sword itself, but if it sought only personal virtue, why specifically restrict background and power? Are Princes and Dukes incapable of purity and kindness? And a King cannot be virtuous? Consider the vast sacrifices Orianna Cavon made, unable to maintain even a single subordinate or attendant, even renouncing her ducal title and hereditary rights!”
Lorneles tapped the table continuously, “This is an intentional limitation, Helaisen! You know the rules of the Royal Family; they are born into power and status. Even those without inheritance must bear a noble title that signifies their distinguished lineage without succession. I could translate this oath into simpler terms for you…”
Lorneles pointed at the stone platform and spoke word by word, “Greedy members of the Royal Family shall not bear the sword!”
Gongsun Ce said in shock, “What nonsense are you talking about…”
“Go eat shit if you can’t understand human words!” Lorneles cursed. Unsatisfied, Gongsun Ce immediately retorted with profanity, resulting in a heated exchange of swear words until the Dawn Knight sternly stopped them to discuss serious matters.
“All of this is supposition, sir. The truth may not be as you imagine, nor as Situ Yi describes.”
“I also am reluctant to believe in his perspective, but…” Lorneles sighed, “I have a feeling he knows more than us. I’ve been closely following the troupe’s investigations; I doubt he would mystify things unnecessarily.”
In his mind, Gongsun Ce thought if he were you, he wouldn’t even associate with that man. What’s there to trust in Situ Yi’s words? That’s a man who can speak shocking opinions unflinchingly, for whom communication is nothing but a theatrical performance.
“So what does all this have to do with me?” asked Gongsun Ce impatiently. “Are you spilling all this confidential stuff to get an excuse to eliminate me?”
“Indeed, this time we might need your opinion…” the old Mage squinted his eyes, “Tell me, Gongsun Ce, what did you feel when you saw the power of the Holy Sword?”
That old fool was rarely this serious, so Gongsun Ce put his emotions aside. He calmed down and carefully recalled the moment Orianna swung her sword, saying, “It was awesome.”
Lorneles looked surprised, and Alandia immediately confirmed, “Is that all?”
“Yes,” Gongsun Ce said with slight confusion. “Just… just a badass sword, what else should I feel?”
Lorneles anxiously stood up and paced around the office. He turned to Gongsun Ce, “This is impossible! If that speculation is true, you would definitely sense something!!”
Gongsun Ce was about to burst out laughing, “Then it just means you guessed wrong, right? The Holy Sword was created by Morton and entrusted to the Seventh Knight; can’t you accept his far-sightedness? Your speculation is forced anyway, how can you deduce the sword bans Royal Family members from that text? I think you’re just biased against the Royal Family!”
The old Mage ignored him, just muttering to himself “It makes no sense.” “How could this be.” Seeing this, the Dawn Knight stood up and said, “Lord Lorneles, let’s stop here for today. We all need more verification…”
“I am verifying!” Lorneles said indignantly. He gestured for them to leave, leaving only himself in the office. He pondered deeply but still couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer.
“Was I really wrong?” the old Mage muttered to himself, “But the King of Skeleton… ah…”
As if to comfort himself, Lorneles said, “Well, perhaps it’s for the best… at least we don’t have to face a scandal in the Royal Family much worse than Charlie’s.”

At the same moment, in Shadow Mist City.
A pair of boots stepped through a muddy puddle, splashing filthy stains on the wall. Mo Yuankai carefully lifted his boots, using his power to cover the road below to prevent the female Knight following him from stepping into the dirty water.
“You’re quite the gentleman, huh,” Kerky, leading ahead, clicked her tongue, “Why isn’t that brat anything like you?”
“Ah Ce is a gentleman too, just slick with words.”
The sky over Shadow Mist City remained gloomy, the strange moonlight brushing over the gray mist in the air. The trio walked through the narrow alleys, the steeple of a bell tower faintly visible not far away. A blurred ghostly figure quietly followed them, reaching out its vague claws towards the trailing Orianna.
Orianna turned to draw her sword in response to the attack, but the hero’s stance was faster. Golden polygonal power enveloped the ghost layer by layer, its intense light eliciting a terrified scream.
Orianna relaxed her grip on the sword hilt, “Mr. Mo, you could have left this small matter to me…”
“It isn’t good to have the ladies fight first.”
Mo Yuankai grabbed the ghost trapped in the superpower prison, wondering, “What is this?”
“An Illusion Spirit, alongside the Beast of Desire, a specialty of the Country,” Kerky explained. “Parts of intense negative emotions solidify due to the impact of the Spirit Prison Realm, blending with distorted memories to form these creatures. They are ethereal, prefer dark places, fear light and fire. They are particularly adept at stirring fear in people through various means, which is why we generally don’t bring mobile phones to Shadow Mist City—receiving ghost calls or messages can easily make a newcomer cry.”
