Chapter 782: Chapter 27 Royal Family Scandal (6)_2
Alandia shook her head, “I know.”
Gongsun Ce was dumbfounded.
“You know everything, yet you act as if you haven’t seen it?”
“Relationships between people are complex and ever-changing; everyone is bound to have a certain degree of negative opinion about those around them. Just as you think Knight Orianna is naive, Mr. Mo Yuankai is overly kind, and consider me old-fashioned and dull,” Alandia said, “expressing one’s true opinion of others is a legitimate right that everyone has. Indeed, Jane Della has expressed her opinion of me on many occasions, but she should not be harshly criticized for doing so.”
Gongsun Ce rubbed his temples vigorously, “Let me summarize your view. You think it’s someone’s legitimate right to talk behind your back?”
“I often express my views about others too; I don’t think there’s anything shameful in it,” Alandia nodded.
The silver-haired woman spoke solemnly and naturally, without a hint of deceit. He thought Knight Dawn might truly not mind because she was someone who couldn’t be censored. She never shied away from expressing her opinions in front of others, just as she bluntly said, “You made a very poor first impression on me,” during their first meeting; not even the Crown Prince could make her change her straightforward attitude.
How could someone like her care about gossip? Even if someone told Knight Dawn to her face that she lacked compassion or was rigid, she would simply take it lightly. In her view, this was no different from her usual demeanor, not something to be criticized.
Gongsun Ce strained his brain to explain, “Listen to me, Alandia. I admire your attitude, but the problem in this situation is that she no longer respects you, do you get it? She detests you, she’s your enemy now!”
“Yes,” Alandia said, “but then, can we expect our friends to love us forever?”
Alandia spoke with such a matter-of-fact attitude, so seriously that Gongsun Ce was left speechless.
He sighed deeply, deeply. Raising his hand, he said earnestly, “Let me give you a piece of advice, Knight Dawn. Interpersonal relationships shouldn’t work like this. Judging by deeds and not intentions is good, but you can’t… you can’t always maintain this attitude.”
“You think I am wrong,” Alandia said.
“No, you’re not wrong. Your thoughts and actions are correct, but… what’s right isn’t always best,” Gongsun Ce shook his head, “Not everyone is as honest and upright as you. Most people can’t live so simply, that’s why we need lies and concessions to ease the friction in life.”
Alandia listened quietly to his words, saying, “Mr. Gongsun, I understand what you mean…”
“But you’re not planning to change?” Gongsun Ce interjected.
“This is my way of living.”
“So you deserve to be unpopular, no one wants to suffer around you!” Gongsun Ce said angrily, “Enjoy the loneliness you’ve chosen!”
He stopped talking, continuing to walk beside Knight Dawn, stomping loudly on the ground out of spite, drawing surprised looks from passersby. This woman truly was incomprehensible—most people’s stubbornness was like a wooden block, whereas she was cold as steel. Not heartless, but icy cold.
But even steel can be damaged, and even animated super robots have been wrecked in battle. Knight Dawn didn’t care about others’ hostility and misunderstandings, but Alandia must feel hurt and sad, for after all, she was human, and she too had family and friends she valued deeply. Yet she persisted in her ways, if this isn’t obsessive, what is? She truly brought it upon herself.
They walked silently for a while, stopping at the red light at a crossroads. He heard Knight Dawn say, “Mr. Gongsun, if you find it uncomfortable to be around me, you can apply to have other knights protect you.”
Gongsun Ce stared at her for a long time; Alandia asked again, “Mr. Gongsun?”
“You,” Gongsun Ce waved his hand feebly, “you really don’t understand people!”
“Please mind your language.”
“I’m not changing!”
“Why?”
“Because I damn well want to!”
They argued about this topic until they reached the doorway; Alandia, driven by curiosity, kept pressing, and Gongsun Ce parried every thrust, showing signs of deflation.
They didn’t notice that two people had been following at a distance, overhearing their conversation.
·
“Are you satisfied now?” the Hidden Law Master asked, “Now you can look at yourself from another perspective. See their evaluations, listen to their opinions.”
Jane Della stood there as if soulless, the Hidden Law Master found it amusing. He knew it wasn’t any trick on the woman herself; it was all her own doing. Did truth really have such power? To make a foolish yet malevolent woman appear so forlorn?
With a hint of mockery, he said, “In my view, you’ve brought it upon yourself. And that superpower user is doing a better job than you… He’s a far more competent assistant than you.”
Jane glanced at him tentatively, lips quivering, unable to speak a word. Suddenly, a glimmer of light appeared in her vacant eyes, and she grabbed the Hidden Law Master’s hand almost pleadingly, saying, “Let me see Prince Charlie! Please! Let me see Prince Charlie!”
She was still seeking some comfort. A bit of the love she once longed for. She reached for the last straw, as if it could truly redeem her spirit.
“Alright,” the Hidden Law Master said.
A few minutes later, they appeared on an avenue near the royal palace; Charlie Morton would pass by this area. The Crown Prince was accustomed to taking walks in the afternoon, alone in the capital’s gardens or art exhibitions, because it gave him 更多的机会 to encounter a wonderful love.
