Chapter 1167: Chapter 1167: Shangguan Mingyue’s Adventure! (Fourth Update)
Leaving the Shangguan household, Ye Qiu felt inexplicably delighted, with the face of Shangguan Mingyue drifting into his mind.
That angelic face was not only beautiful but also possessed a wisdom unparalleled by any other woman. Whether it was her insights or her vast knowledge, one could say she was a flawless woman. Even Ye Qiu considered Shangguan Mingyue the most perfect woman he had ever seen.
Shangguan Mingyue embodied all the excellent qualities a woman should have, truly the ultimate goddess of men’s dreams.
Thinking of this woman, even Ye Qiu couldn’t keep his heart calm and unruffled, but it began to stir and fluctuate.
He just didn’t know which corner of the world this woman, exuding an ethereal aura, was now in, exploring everything she wanted to know.
…
Egypt.
A silhouette stood out conspicuously among the line of a team.
Under the endless yellow sand, the line walked deep into the desert, seeking the secrets hidden within.
It was said that deep within the desert existed a sacred lake, and within the lake stood a crystal pyramid. To explore this legend, Shangguan Mingyue journeyed with a group of adventure enthusiasts, in search of the sacred lake.
The team consisted of three women and five men, and although the other two women were also attractive, they paled considerably in comparison to Shangguan Mingyue.
Apart from one couple, the other four male members all had a significant interest in Shangguan Mingyue.
However, Shangguan Mingyue was very aloof, making her seem unreachable. She only had a relatively good relationship with a man named Li An, an equally knowledgeable person with a degree in archaeology from Yale University, having conversed a few times occasionally over some relics.
They had been deep in the desert for a month and a half, and both food and water had been more than halved.
The team was led by Li An, who was half Chinese and could speak fluent Chinese. After graduating, he had conducted archaeological work in various parts of China, gaining significant fame in the archaeology circle. He met Shangguan Mingyue by chance while visiting the Vatican.
After checking the food and water, Li An squinted and gazed out at the seemingly endless desert, then reminded everyone, “Our food and water are insufficient to support us moving forward. We can go on for a maximum of one more day. Whether or not we find the legendary sacred lake, we must return, or we’ll starve and perish of thirst in this desert.”
The others understood, as Li An pulled out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack and approached Shangguan Mingyue, handing it to her, “Thirsty, aren’t you? Have a little drink.”
In the desert, water is more precious than gold, and without it, one can’t make it through the desert.
Li An smiled at the woman before him. Even amidst the desert, known as the “backyard of death,” she remained calm, never showing any panic.
He knew Shangguan Mingyue was not an ordinary woman and had witnessed her stunning wisdom in addition to her beautiful appearance. Before her, many things became remarkably simple. For such an exceptionally outstanding woman, Li An felt admiration mixed with awe.
“Thank you.” Shangguan Mingyue didn’t accept it but gestured to the water bottle in her backpack, indicating it still contained a good amount of water.
Li An shrugged, smiling as he put the bottle back in his backpack, walking beside Shangguan Mingyue, saying, “Mingyue, I originally didn’t want you to come on this adventure with me. This time, I’m afraid we’ll come back empty-handed.”
Wearing a baseball cap, Shangguan Mingyue’s upper body was dressed in a loose white top, and her lower body in blue jeans. Though simple, on Shangguan Mingyue, they exuded a unique aura.
Even in her casual attire, she retained an unapproachable goddess-like charm, like a white lotus blooming quietly in the desert that could only be admired from afar but not played with.
“The lake was always a legend. After all these years, no one has ventured as deep into the desert as we have. Even if we end up returning empty-handed, we will have no regrets. At least we came here.” Shangguan Mingyue spoke calmly, her voice soothing, like beautiful music.
“I just fear you’ll be disappointed… I don’t want to see you unhappy.” Li An said, his heart racing after he finished this sentence.
It was essentially a veiled confession.
However, Shangguan Mingyue’s expression didn’t change to the dazzling smile he had imagined.
A moment of disappointment flashed through Li An’s heart, but the feeling quickly faded, and his gaze regained determination. He wouldn’t give up easily. Such a perfect woman, even if his indirect expression didn’t yield the desired result, it didn’t matter. He would keep trying.
At night, the group camped in the desert under a sky aglow with countless stars illuminating the entire cosmos.
The next day, the journey continued.
If the sacred lake didn’t appear today, they would have to return.
The sun was fierce, and the scorching sunlight baked the group, with the air filled with a fiery scent. As they ventured deeper into the desert, even weeds disappeared, and nothing but golden sand could be seen.
Shangguan Mingyue led the way, Li An closely following at her side, both remaining silent to conserve their energy.
Li An matched his pace with Shangguan Mingyue; they walked in sync, showing a trace of understanding.
As the sun began its descent below the horizon, the group stopped in their tracks, knowing if they moved forward, it would probably be in vain. Their supplies would only last until the end of the day.
If they didn’t head back, it would become perilous.
As dusk fell, and the temperature dropped, the group debated whether to return or camp overnight and depart the next morning.
After a vote, they decided to leave the following day.
When the next day’s sun rose, they emerged from their tents and were stunned by the sight before them.
A blue lake lay before them, with a white, transparent crystal tower at its center.
Was this not the sacred lake they were seeking?
“It’s a mirage.”
“That means the sacred lake does exist; it might be nearby.”
“Should we continue forward, or head back?”
Though it was a mirage, everyone was quite excited, knowing that a mirage is merely a refraction of light, but its occurrence indicated the presence of the sacred lake.
“Mingyue, do you think it’s worth taking the risk?” Li An tested Shangguan Mingyue’s stance.
Shangguan Mingyue had significant influence in the group, and if she spoke, it was likely no man present would dare disagree.
Shangguan Mingyue pondered for a while, “Perhaps we should persist for half a day more. Regardless of the result, we must turn back, and as for water, everyone needs to conserve further.”
The two other women were somewhat reluctant to continue, but the men chose to agree to advance for half a day.
Ultimately, the party continued forward.
About four hours later, just when even Shangguan Mingyue thought it was a pity they had to turn back, they suddenly discovered a vast lake ahead of them, its shimmering surface strikingly beautiful.
Most notably, there was a large crystal pyramid in the lake, sparkling brilliantly.
“We really found it.” Everyone else was stunned, and immediately they raced towards the lake with abandon.
Drinking the sweet water in big gulps, they all filled their bottles completely, and with their thirst quenched, they launched their inflatable boats, edging closer to the crystal pyramid.
Just as they were about to reach the pyramid, a massive figure suddenly burst out from the lake.
