Suppressing the Protagonist in the Start to Seize the Heroine
Chapter 215
Chapter 215: Once Again Underestimated
“This is your office; this area is for work, and there is a rest room over here. I heard you like to nap at noon, so we specifically set up a rest room for you here. There are two more rooms: one for your assistant and one for your secretary. The rooms are a bit small, but they are fully equipped.”@@@@
Li Hongyang looked at Su Lin and winked, and Su Lin immediately understood what he meant. Being able to work as Su Zhenguo’s assistant indeed means being capable enough to know his preferences well.
Su Lin responded with a meaningful smile. Only Lin Xiaowan, standing by their side, pondered over their interaction. She had a feeling that Li Hongyang had deliberately done this; otherwise, why would there be a rest room that seemed just like a bedroom inside an office? She suspected that this was arranged by Su Lin in advance, prompting her to pinch Su Lin teasingly.
Su Lin kept his smile unchanged, looking puzzled at Lin Xiaowan. Seeing Su Lin still pretending to be oblivious, Lin Xiaowan felt even more annoyed.
“Vice President Su, how do you like the office? Are you satisfied?”
Su Lin nodded, “Of course I’m satisfied. The office setup you’ve done could never be poor.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Su Lin then asked with a smile, “Hongyang, tell me about my job responsibilities so I can let Xiaowan and Xiaoyu know what to watch out for.”
“The boss wants you to start with the mobile division. Our company’s first mobile phone is expected to launch on August 31st, with mass production and release in October. So your tasks are quite urgent right now.”
“However, the good news is, we can buy any research institutes we want domestically; the company is not short on money,” Li Hongyang said cheerfully.
“Launching on August 31st? You’re not joking, right?” Su Lin was stunned.
Although they had complete blueprints, creating a finished product in such a short time seemed nearly impossible.
Li Hongyang seriously explained, “No joke at all. According to Mr. Su, even the blueprints are ready, and many components are already manufactured, only the chips and the system are a bit tricky. Do you think the launch is far once those are sorted?”
Su Lin thought for a moment and felt it made sense. Companies like Apple took years because they developed everything from scratch, whereas Su Lin’s blueprints were ready-made; they just needed to be replicated.
“Now that you mention it, it does seem straightforward,” Su Lin chuckled.
Li Hongyang shook his head, “That’s not certain, the system is a big issue, and so are the chips. We have collaborations abroad for the chips since our own photolithography machines will take time, so we have to wait.”
“But I asked a few days ago, and the chip part should be on schedule; the main issue now is the system.”
Su Lin responded, “Leave the system to me.”
“You? Are you sure you can handle it?”
Su Lin smiled, “I’ll give it a try.”
Su Lin had mastered various computer technologies, and his skills were arguably a generation ahead. Although it might be troublesome, with his superior intellect, it shouldn’t be a big problem. At most, it would mean resting for a couple of days, leaving Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu to mind the empty office.
Li Hongyang looked intently at Su Lin, seeing he was not joking, he said, “If you can handle the system, that would be best. Otherwise, collaborating with national institutions or major families, they would ask for high prices.”
“With such a vast market, it’s normal for interested parties to be restless. I’m being pressured from above, or else I’d have been devoured by now.”
“That’s why I’m here to help you, I can root out those spies.”
Su Zhenguo glanced at Su Lin, “You can’t be joking about this.”
Su Lin earnestly replied, “Do I look like I’m joking? Don’t worry, I have my ways. Don’t forget who gave you those materials.”
Hearing this, Su Zhenguo fell silent. To this day, he didn’t know where Su Lin got those materials, but as long as they were genuine, that was enough.
Su Lin was his son, so he couldn’t be deceiving him. It seemed Su Lin might have some mysterious backing, but since his son wouldn’t say, he didn’t press further, “You rooting out these spies won’t cause you any trouble, right?”
Su Lin nodded, “Definitely not. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come to help.”
“You little rascal~!! How long will it take?”
Su Lin smiled, “Not long, I’ll just sit in on the meeting this afternoon and give you the results by evening.”
“Alright~! I’d like to see how you manage to find all these spies.”
Su Lin chuckled and then continued, “If it’s really hard to find suitable people for the upper levels, Xiaowan and Xiaoyu are excellent, let them manage.”
“Xiaowan and Xiaoyu? Your two little girlfriends?” Su Zhenguo chuckled.
Su Lin nodded, “Yes, them. Don’t underestimate them; they contributed sixty percent to the success of Quanle Purchasing.”
“Oh? What about you and that Chen Yang?”
“Me? I probably contributed ten percent, and Yangzi about thirty.”
Su Zhenguo paused, then nodded, “Understood. I’ll give them a chance when appropriate.”
Afterwards, Su Zhenguo took a finely crafted box from his drawer and handed it to Su Lin, “This contains a ginseng that’s three thousand years old, which you practitioners might need. I got it especially for you.”
Su Lin was surprised, “And you? I see your energy seems stronger than before, have you also started practicing martial arts?”
Su Zhenguo waved his hand, “Just Tai Chi for health, not really martial arts. This item will be more useful in your hands. Once I really start practicing, won’t it be easy to get such things?”
Su Lin thought about it and realized Su Zhenguo was right; with his future status, such items would indeed be plentiful, so he accepted the box without further objection. These items were not very useful to him, but they would be for the three ladies at home.
“Alright, go on then, I’ll have Hongyang show you around the company later.”
“Okay, then I’ll take my leave.”
As Su Lin walked out of the office, Su Zhenguo watched his back, opened his mouth to speak, but ultimately didn’t ask about the people behind Su Lin. He sighed deeply, “After all, he’s my own son. What’s the use of knowing too much about these things, if not just to add to my worries?”
