Yan Chen retorted, “Humph! That Ma Shaokang, one day I will repay him for all of this!”

By this time, Father Yan was infuriated, he slammed the medicine he intended for Yan Chen onto the ground, shouting angrily, “Humph! You’re planning to get back at him? With this understanding, he suddenly realized why the usually domineering Young Master Ma turned into a timid mouse upon seeing Hao Jian—it made sense now. On top of that, Young Master Ma, after advising him, still spoke harshly and even drew swords with Hao Jian.

Liang Yuwei immediately said happily, “There’s a car!”

Thinking quickly, Hao Jian immediately grabbed Liang Yuwei and said, “Let me ask the driver if he’s willing to drive!”

Liang Yuwei didn’t think much and nodded in agreement.

Then Hao Jian walked over to the car with a smile on his face. The driver had been busy all day and was about to wrap up, but seeing another customer wanting to take the car made him beam with joy. It looked like business was really good today.

But just as he thought that, the person threw a hundred yuan inside.

It was Hao Jian who threw the money in. The driver looked at Hao Jian with confusion, and Hao Jian said, “When that person comes to ask if you’re going to drive, just say you’re not, and mention that this late at night there are absolutely no cars, suggest finding a place to rest and leaving tomorrow morning!”

The driver was initially puzzled, but after hearing Hao Jian’s words and glancing at Liang Yuwei waiting across the street, he immediately understood and gave Hao Jian a knowing look.

The driver said, “No problem!”

Liang Yuwei rolled her eyes at Hao Jian, then walked over to ask for herself.

Hao Jian chuckled, knowing well that Liang Yuwei wouldn’t believe him and would come to ask, which is why he bothered with this whole act.

Liang Yuwei walked over and quietly tapped on the driver’s window. The driver rolled down the window.

Liang Yuwei asked, “Driver, are you still going?”

The driver cooperatively said, “Not for all the money in the world, this late at night, who would drive? Not going, not going, young lady, you should get going too.”

And he added, “At this hour, in the pitch dark, it’s unsafe. It’s even less safe for you alone on this road. Now, it’s impossible to catch a car, best to find a place to rest for the night and get a ride back in the morning!”

Liang Yuwei helplessly thanked the driver, then turned away disappointedly.

Once Liang Yuwei walked away, the driver rolled up the window and sighed, “Ah, young people these days!”

And so, Liang Yuwei walked back to Hao Jian, despondent.

Hao Jian pretended to ask, “So, he’s not going to drive, huh? You didn’t believe me!”

Liang Yuwei gave Hao Jian a helpless look.

She originally thought Hao Jian was lying to her, but it turned out he wasn’t, which surprised her!

The receptionist, who was already drowsy with no guests around, saw some customers and opened her eyes to prepare check-in for Liang Yuwei and Hao Jian.

But as she opened her eyes, she was shocked. Usually, she saw men bringing women to get a room—a sight she was used to—but seeing a woman bring a man for a room, with the man looking a bit reserved, was a first.

She was a bit stunned.

Checking the room availability, the receptionist girl suddenly looked up at Liang Yuwei, then noticed the reserved-looking Hao Jian behind, and seemed to have a thought. Even though there were plenty of rooms, she said, “The rooms are full, we only have one left, do you want it?”

Liang Yuwei was a bit dumbfounded and asked, “Not even two rooms?”

The receptionist girl firmly said, “Just one left!”
