CHAPTER 14: CHAPTER 14: KISSING IN FRONT OF HER

Looking at Adrian Grant’s approaching face, Isabelle Everett deliberately leaned in to kiss him.

However, this scene was coincidentally seen by Raina Lowell when she looked up.

She truly didn’t expect that they would go to such lengths right in front of her.

Even though she knew she had no right to care, she was at fault for hiding the issue of Adrian Grant’s child from him.

But Adrian Grant, without being divorced yet, acted like this with someone else, where did that leave her dignity as a wife?

Raina Lowell couldn’t bear to watch her own husband act with another woman like that right in front of her.

Her heart ached intensely, and she stood up and slammed the door on her way out.

The loud bang made Adrian Grant irritable, and he abruptly pushed Isabelle Everett away.

Isabelle Everett was somewhat unaware, yet she shyly held onto his arm and acted coyly.

"What’s wrong, Adrian?"

Adrian Grant was honest, "I am married to Raina Lowell."

But he would eventually get a divorce.

"What did you say?"

Isabelle Everett was shocked, even unwilling to believe what she heard.

"Are you joking? You don’t even like her, how could you have married her?"

Adrian Grant explained, "It was because my family pressured me, but I’ll leave the marriage. If you’re willing to wait, then wait."

He knew very well that four years ago, in a night devoid of people when he was drunk, he took away Isabelle Everett’s purity.

Only four years ago, after he took Isabelle Everett to see his grandfather to annul their engagement, Raina Lowell made a fuss about going abroad.

His grandfather was angry, unwilling to let him be with Isabelle Everett regardless.

Later on, Isabelle Everett also went abroad.

Adrian Grant thought she wouldn’t return anymore.

So under the pressure of the elderly’s severe illness, he proactively sought Raina Lowell to come back and marry him.

The marriage had just lasted a year when Isabelle Everett returned.

Once she came back, she demanded that he celebrate her birthday.

Thinking about the harm he caused to Isabelle Everett back then, Adrian Grant held a grand birthday party for her.

It was meant as compensation to her.

But now, he’s very clear that he wants to divorce Raina Lowell.

If Isabelle Everett is willing, after the divorce, he will fulfill his promise from back then and marry her.

Isabelle Everett still found it hard to accept, covering her face and crying.

"Your family forced you to marry Raina Lowell, so you did. How would they ever agree to let you divorce her and marry me?"

Damn it, she still came back too late.

But these years she spent abroad, her brother told her every day that Adrian Grant had no other woman by his side.

Why did he suddenly marry Raina Lowell?

She went abroad working hard to improve herself, just to be worthy of Adrian Grant.

Yet he unexpectedly married Raina Lowell.

Isabelle Everett was unwilling.

Adrian Grant’s handsome face turned grim, feeling extremely annoyed, lacking patience to comfort anyone.

Sitting there, he remained elegant, "Marrying Raina Lowell was my grandfather’s wish; he is critically ill and won’t last much longer."

"At most a few months. After the old man passes, I will divorce Raina Lowell immediately."

Upon hearing that it would require waiting a few months, Isabelle Everett thought it wasn’t too long.

Plus, she was better than Raina Lowell in every way, and Adrian Grant would definitely keep his word.

Wiping away the tears from her eyes, Isabelle Everett pretended to be wronged and burrowed into his arms.

"I’m willing to wait for you, but can you promise not to disappoint me?"

Adrian Grant was still uncomfortable and pushed her away.

He agreed to her words.

Raina Lowell hid alone in the restroom, and her tears wouldn’t stop falling.

She wanted to suppress her emotions and not shed a tear for such a fickle man.

Yet she couldn’t control herself.

Her heart felt as if millions of ants were tearing at it, that gut-wrenching feeling made her desperate for relief.

She didn’t know how long had passed.

Outside the restroom, someone shouted:

"Secretary Lowell, the CEO is calling for you."

Raina Lowell had to pull herself together, for the sake of her child, she washed her face and returned to Adrian Grant’s office.

Yet inside the office, Isabelle Everett was gone.

There Adrian Grant was in his suit, calmly and steadily seated at the computer desk, focused on work.

Raina Lowell walked over, her eyes still scarlet.

Her voice was slightly choked as she spoke, "Adrian Grant, can we please get the divorce first?"

Once divorced, whoever he chooses to be with is his business; she absolutely wouldn’t care.

But when not divorced, he was still intimate with someone else. As a wife, she couldn’t accept it.

Adrian Grant looked up at her.

Seeing her obvious post-cry appearance, with slightly dampened eyelashes.

His chest suddenly felt bitter, yet he steeled his handsome face, his voice icy:

"What right do you have to divorce me?"

Raina Lowell’s heart stung like needles, lowering her head as she struggled to control her emotions, refusing to cry.

"I hid from you the fact that I have two children, but after getting officially married to you, I didn’t do anything to wrong you."

"And during this year, I’ve sincerely cared for you, if you intend on being with Isabelle Everett while not divorced, I won’t accept it."

He might never understand what it feels like to watch someone you love being with someone else.

Anyway, she couldn’t face it.

Either divorce or let her go.

She would absolutely not allow her husband to be with another woman right in front of her.

Adrian Grant’s look at her was icy cold.

A sudden rise of violent emotions surged.

"In this year, if you were truly sincere with me, you wouldn’t have constantly hidden your past from me."

"You could give birth to another man’s child, and be my wife with peace of mind. Why can’t I, within this marriage, go beyond the bounds to be with someone I love?"

Raina Lowell met his gaze, face flushed with anger.

"You said it’s my past, but you are cheating now, this is a moral issue."

"Ha."

Adrian Grant laughed, avoided her gaze, appearing so nonchalant with his handsome face.

Yet deep within, turmoil raged.

"What’s the difference between deception and cheating in a marriage? Don’t accuse me; I will divorce you, but not now."

"If not divorcing, then you shouldn’t be with Isabelle Everett."

Raina Lowell was filled with shame and anger.

She had not slept all night; her pale face glowed with brilliance, fatigued yet delicate.

Adrian Grant didn’t pay her any mind, and ordered her around like a servant.

"Clean up and get out, stop blocking my view."

Raina Lowell made a loathful glance at him, sensibly resumed tidying up the previously unfinished trash.

In the afternoon, seeing that there were no scheduled events today, Adrian Grant was getting off work.

She hurriedly ran in front of him to remind:

"I want to see my children."

Adrian Grant acted as though he hadn’t heard her, passing by out of the office.

Raina Lowell hastily followed him.

Seeing colleagues outside, as soon as they saw Adrian Grant, they would all pause to greet him with a nod.

Raina Lowell dared not bring up the children again, silently following behind Adrian Grant.

Seeing him enter the elevator, the others did not dare enter.

She, however, bowed her head and rushed in, then pressed the close door button.

The next second, the man’s cold voice sounded above her head.

"Who let you in, get out!"

This was the CEO-exclusive elevator.

No one below the CEO’s assistant was allowed to take it.

Raina Lowell ignored him, looked up at him, eyes glaring wide with anger, "If you don’t let me see my children, I will keep following you."
