Chapter 19: Aurora Is Sick
CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: AURORA IS SICK
Raina Lowell watched Adrian Grant disappear at the door of the private room, her heart sinking halfway.
What did he mean by this?
Leaving her to serve these old men?
Raina Lowell refused the drink offered by one of the old men, still courteous, "I’m sorry, I don’t drink."
But the old men were not willing to let her go.
Didn’t President Grant mean to reward them with this young girl?
They had never seen President Grant so generous, knowing their preferences, bringing along someone so young.
Thinking she was brought by President Grant, the executives each held up their glasses in front of Raina Lowell to make their presence known.
"How could someone around President Grant not drink? Are you looking down on our King Group?"
"Young lady, don’t forget you’re just a secretary, don’t dampen everyone’s spirits."
"You should know why President Grant left you behind, just obediently drink!"
Raina Lowell couldn’t avoid it.
Forcibly, they held up their glasses and poured the drink into her mouth.
She choked uncomfortably, but they still wouldn’t let her go, still pushing their glasses in front of her.
Raina Lowell drank several glasses of liquor in succession, her throat burning painfully.
She didn’t know if it was the alcohol taking effect, but her vision began to blur.
Even her brain turned somewhat muddled.
Raina Lowell really couldn’t drink anymore, yet she couldn’t escape.
This scene reminded her of that dark night four years ago.
She was also controlled by alcohol, desperately wanting to escape, but unable to.
In the end, she was violated.
Raina Lowell tried to stay awake, looking towards the direction of the private room’s door for help.
How she hoped Adrian Grant would come back quickly to take her away.
Even if he hated her and wanted revenge.
But how could he leave her to a bunch of old men?
As her brain gradually lost consciousness, Raina Lowell never saw the door of the private room open.
Never waited for Adrian Grant.
Her heart fell into despair, collapsing onto the chair, drunkenly laying across the dining table, losing consciousness.
At that moment, in the restroom.
Adrian Grant knew exactly what kind of people were at today’s dinner.
Usually appearing proper, but what they did in private was worse than pigs and dogs.
He didn’t know why, but suddenly he felt a bit panicked.
In the next second, he turned and rushed straight to the private room.
Pushed open the private room door.
Saw the chaos inside, an executive next to Raina Lowell with his hand wandering over her.
Adrian Grant’s eyes turned cold, quickly stepping over to pull that person’s hand up, with a crack, violently twisting it off.
"Ah."
The executive screamed hoarsely in pain, howling.
The others were scared stiff, instantly sobering up, standing silently to the side.
Adrian Grant lifted Raina Lowell in a princess carry, sweeping over the crowd with imposing aura.
"I only asked her to have a few drinks with you, how dare you lay hands on her."
Finding this group of people hypocritical, not a single good person among them.
Adrian Grant carried Raina Lowell out past them.
Placed Raina Lowell in the front passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and had to personally take her home.
Raina Lowell was quite drunk.
This caused her to have a stress reaction, curling her entire body up, nestled in the seat, her mind filled with the incident from four years ago.
She struggled desperately, cried out, begged for help.
"No, please don’t do this..."
"I didn’t mean to, don’t touch me, let me go, let me go."
She cried out loud, if not for the seatbelt holding her, she would have struggled more fiercely.
Adrian Grant drove while watching her.
He thought Raina Lowell was drunk, throwing a drunken tantrum.
But seeing her cry, curled up with a little frown, her flowing hair covering her face, tears making her look so broken.
His heart inexplicably ached.
Finally, he couldn’t help but reach over, holding her head to comfort:
"Raina, don’t be afraid, I’m taking you home now."
"Don’t touch me, go away, go."
She violently pushed the man’s hand away, with the seatbelt still on, she could only press tightly against the seat back, struggling in agony.
Adrian Grant knew she wasn’t pretending.
She seemed truly frightened.
Her small face was full of terror.
He slammed the gas pedal, then personally carried Raina Lowell back to the room after reaching home.
Even after gently placing Raina Lowell on the bed, Adrian Grant still saw her tears flowing endlessly, her expression painful.
Her small mouth murmured to herself.
"Why do this to me?"
"I didn’t mean it, I know I was wrong, I’m sorry!"
"Adrian Grant, I truly love you. Because I love you, I didn’t dare to tell you about Aurora and Evelyn’s existence, I was afraid you wouldn’t want me."
She curled up again, hugging herself, and started sobbing.
But clearly, she was still not sober.
Adrian Grant just sat by, staring at her.
His heart feeling rather uncomfortable.
Love her?
If she loved him, how could she have children with someone else?
If she loved him, how could she keep hiding things from him?
Adrian Grant made himself calm down.
This woman wasn’t fit to be his wife.
Not wanting to care for her anymore, he stood up to leave.
Raina Lowell suddenly propped herself up, vomiting onto the floor.
Adrian Grant still left, getting Madam Cole to take care of her.
That night, Raina Lowell felt terrible.
Vomiting all night, only settling down for a bit at dawn.
When she woke up, it was ten in the morning.
Sitting up, she realized she was sleeping in the master bedroom she and Adrian Grant once shared.
The bed they once slept in as a couple.
Raina Lowell was a bit dazed, sitting on the big bed, trying hard to recall what happened last night.
Thinking about how Adrian Grant left her to a group of old men, those men forcing her to drink, and how Adrian Grant never showed up the whole time.
So Adrian Grant thinks she’s dirty, and should be with those men?
Even though she doesn’t expect him to still have feelings for her, his actions still hurt her deeply.
Then Madam Cole pushed the door open, asking with concern:
"Madam, are you feeling better?"
Raina Lowell wiped away the tears in her eyes and took the porridge Madam Cole handed her.
"How did I get back last night?"
It might have been Caleb Landon who brought her back.
Someone like Adrian Grant would never care about her life or death.
Madam Cole said, "Sir carried you back, Madam. Why did you drink so much?"
Raina Lowell held the bowl in her hands, somewhat stunned.
Adrian Grant carried her back?
He eventually returned to the private room and took her away?
But if he was worried about her, why leave her to those people?
Raina Lowell really couldn’t figure out the old man’s thoughts.
She silently lowered her head to drink the porridge.
At this moment, the phone on the bedside table rang.
It was a call from Ms. Ford.
Raina Lowell picked it up and immediately pressed to answer.
On the phone, Ms. Ford anxiously said:
"Miss Lowell, do you want to come and see Aurora, she’s got a high fever, and the people here aren’t letting us see a doctor, I don’t know what to do."
Hearing this, Raina Lowell got anxious, quickly reassuring:
"Ms. Ford, first help her bring down the fever with your method, I’m coming right away."
Without time to think too much, she quickly passed the bowl to Madam Cole, got out of bed to change clothes.
Changing clothes, she asked Madam Cole, "Did Adrian Grant go out?"
Madam Cole saw her urgency and nodded, "He went out early, Madam what’s wrong?"
"Nothing."
Raina Lowell didn’t dare mention the matter of her child, thinking that to see her child at the estate, she needed Adrian Grant’s permission.
Not daring to delay, she immediately drove towards the company.
