Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 26: Have Her Drink with Us
CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: HAVE HER DRINK WITH US
Thinking about seeing her babies every day.
Even though her husband behind her was tangled with Isabelle Everett, Raina Lowell forced herself not to care.
After all, they would divorce sooner or later.
By then, she would take her two babies and disappear from this old man’s sight forever.
So enduring some humiliation now wasn’t a big deal.
In the back seat, seeing Raina Lowell show no reaction at all.
Adrian Grant removed Isabelle Everett’s hand, leaned back in the seat, and closed his eyes to rest.
His face was sharply defined, with features as if carved with a chisel, cold yet handsome. Even though he appeared very aloof and indifferent, it still made people want to get close.
Isabelle Everett deliberately leaned against him, saying in a sweet voice:
"Adrian, what’s wrong, are you feeling unwell?"
"Yeah, I didn’t sleep well last night."
Adrian Grant casually replied.
Thinking of last night’s events, his mind was filled with images of him and Raina Lowell entwined on the bed.
Opening his eyes to look at Raina Lowell, who was driving, he didn’t believe she didn’t love him.
If she didn’t love him, how could she be so passionate beneath him?
If she didn’t love him, how could she have a marital relationship with him?
Or did she treat every man that way?
Otherwise, how could she have gotten involved with someone else abroad and had two children?
The more he thought about it, the more Adrian Grant felt stifled in his chest, sour as if he’d drunk several bottles of vinegar.
He thought he must be crazy!
Why was he always being led around by that little woman’s emotions?
Annoyed with himself for feeling this way, Adrian Grant spoke up:
"Stop by the roadside. Isabelle and I need some time alone; you don’t need to come with us."
Upon hearing this, Raina Lowell gripped the steering wheel even tighter.
No matter how much it hurt inside, she still forced herself to pull the car over to the side.
After she got out, Isabelle Everett moved to the passenger seat, and Adrian Grant drove the car.
Soon, the car sped away.
Raina Lowell watched the direction they disappeared in, and despite her efforts to stay strong, her heart ached uncontrollably.
She knew she had no right to interfere with whom her husband was with.
Once they left, she could return to the estate to be with her children.
Raina Lowell adjusted her mindset and took a taxi back to the estate.
The two little ones were delighted to see their mom back and surrounded her joyfully.
From time to time, they even asked:
"Mommy, when will that stepdad come over next?"
Their stepdad was good-looking, tall and strong, and being with him felt very secure.
Aurora thought about how she even dreamed of her stepdad last night and was really hoping he’d come by again.
Raina Lowell corrected her daughter, "You must not call him stepdad; he probably won’t be coming over again."
Adrian Grant didn’t like her children.
How could he possibly come over again?
Perhaps they wouldn’t even wait for the divorce, and Isabelle Everett would be pregnant with his child.
Of course, a man would prefer his biological child.
Evelyn wrinkled her little face, her bright and captivating eyes filled with confusion:
"Why? Mommy, aren’t you married to him? Why can’t we call him stepdad?"
Both she and her sister quite liked that stepdad.
Raina Lowell felt a bitterness in her heart, caressing the children’s heads.
"These are adult matters; children don’t understand. Anyway, Mommy will separate from him, and you might not see him again, so there’s no need to worry about his presence."
It’s uncertain how long she would continue to get entangled with Adrian Grant.
Sometimes, she really wished they could divorce soon and she could leave with her children.
The two little ones indeed didn’t quite understand the matters between their mom and stepdad.
But they could only listen to their mother’s words and stopped mentioning that stepdad.
In the afternoon, Raina Lowell spared some time to visit the old house.
The Old Master’s health was still not optimistic.
She wanted to stay overnight at the old house to accompany the elder.
But Old Master Grant wanted her to have a child with his grandson as soon as possible, so he insisted on sending her away to spend time with his grandson.
Unbeknownst to him, the couple was both contemplating divorce.
Raina Lowell returned to the estate absent-mindedly at 10 o’clock.
She was about to go accompany the children to rest when Caleb Landon called.
The voice on the other end said: "Madam, I apologize for disturbing you so late. I’m on a business trip, and the President is drinking at a nightclub. Could you drive over and pick him up?"
Raina Lowell thought about how Adrian Grant had been with Isabelle Everett all day long.
He must have brought Isabelle Everett over too, right?
Why didn’t he let Isabelle Everett take him home?
She wanted to protest, but after Caleb Landon gave her the address, he hung up the phone.
Raina Lowell was left with no choice; she hadn’t even gone inside her home and drove to the nightclub.
She searched for a long time before finally finding the private room where Adrian Grant was staying.
Upon pushing the door open, a group of people inside were egging on someone to give a kiss.
Nobody noticed her at all.
The next second, Raina Lowell saw Isabelle Everett leaning in close to Adrian Grant, actively kissing his lips.
Adrian stayed there without making any moves, nor did he push Isabelle Everett away.
Soon, the applause and cheers from friends around filled the room.
Raina Lowell stood frozen at the doorway.
Her eyes felt like they had sand in them, stinging and making her want to cry.
Her heart was wrenching and aching.
Her fingernails dug into the palms of her hands, trying to divert the pain from her heart.
Luckily, the room’s lighting was dim, so hopefully, no one would notice the expression she cared about.
Someone noticed her presence and remarked:
"Ahem, why is there an extra person here?"
Everyone turned to look at Raina Lowell.
People in Adrian Grant’s circle all knew Raina Lowell.
Their understanding was that she was shameless, not only living off the Grant Family, but also dreaming of becoming Adrian Grant’s wife.
She was truly unaware of her own limits.
Moreover, she always seemed to follow Adrian Grant around.
Now, seeing Isabelle Everett in Adrian Grant’s arms, completely ignoring Raina Lowell’s presence, they didn’t regard her at all and mocked:
"Brother Adrian, your little housekeeper truly is haunting."
"Brother Adrian, with her around, won’t you and Isabelle be unable to marry?"
"This person is really quite shameless. The Grant Family paid for her to study abroad, telling her not to return, yet she has the audacity to come back."
"Pity Brother Adrian and Sister Isabelle; once again, the pair of herons is disrupted."
Raina Lowell braced herself and listened.
She opened her mouth, wanting to retort.
Unexpectedly, Isabelle Everett suddenly stood up and walked toward her, scolding those people:
"What are you talking about? Raina isn’t like that at all. She’s here because Grandpa Grant must have instructed her to."
Then she raised her hand to pull Raina Lowell, smiling warmly.
"Raina, don’t listen to their gossip. Come, sit with us and let’s have a drink."
Raina Lowell didn’t give Isabelle Everett a good look, shook off her hand, and looked at Adrian Grant.
"Are you leaving now? If so, I’ll take you. If not, take your time drinking, and I’ll wait in the car."
This despicable man.
He had previously called her filthy.
No telling who’s filthy now.
Having just come down from her bed at night, he immediately turned and embraced another woman.
Thinking about his behavior, Raina Lowell only felt disgusted.
Adrian Grant hadn’t drunk much.
Sitting elegantly, he looked down on Raina Lowell.
"Is this the attitude you should have as a secretary?"
Raina Lowell thought he might restrict her from seeing her kids any time, forcing her to swallow her pride.
"President Grant, you take your time drinking; I’ll wait for you outside."
She turned to leave.
Adrian Grant’s cold voice rang out again:
"Raina Lowell, don’t you want money? If you keep them company drinking, you could earn over a hundred thousand in just one night."
