CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: THE HEART THAT LOVED HIM IS DEAD

Raina Lowell stopped in her tracks.

She didn’t expect Adrian Grant would still want her to stay and let his friends humiliate her.

This man, how could he become so cruel.

He knew very well that she didn’t drink, yet he still forced her.

Raina Lowell didn’t want to give in, insisting on leaving.

Adrian Grant coldly said again:

"You can leave, but you will certainly regret it."

Raina Lowell knew he was using her children to threaten her.

Thinking about her two children being in Adrian Grant’s hands.

She had no choice but to compromise, turned to face everyone, and forced a smile:

"Alright, young masters, I’ll drink with you, but can you afford the high price?"

Everyone laughed.

"Who do you think you’re looking down on? Ten thousand a glass, come over and drink."

Saying this, a mobile phone was pulled out and placed on the coffee table, ready for scanning payment.

Several others quickly put their phones on the table, "I’ll pay twenty thousand a glass."

"I’m offering thirty thousand."

"I’ll give fifty thousand."

The young men scrambled over each other.

It’s not that they were particularly generous.

Though no one could truly respect Raina Lowell, clinging to The Grant Family without leaving.

But everyone wasn’t blind; Raina Lowell still had a fresh and pretty face.

And, being so young, women like her were probably untouched by men.

Of course, everyone wanted to be the first to taste the cake.

Even a few hundred thousand a night was just a drop in the bucket for them.

Raina Lowell shot a cold glance at Adrian Grant, seeing him with his arm again around Isabelle Everett’s waist.

She swallowed the bitterness in her heart, filled a glass with wine, and downed it in one gulp.

Then she pulled out her phone, letting the other party scan and pay.

"Fifty thousand, transfer it."

The young man, not wanting to spoil the fun, had to transfer the money first.

He transferred a hundred thousand, signaling Raina Lowell, "Come on, have another glass."

This time he poured a full glass of white wine himself.

Raina Lowell looked at the payment notification, knowing what Adrian Grant wanted to see, she did as he wished.

She picked up the glass once more and drank it down.

The burning taste stung her throat, making her face flush red and tears almost come out.

But the young men weren’t planning to let her go.

They kept transferring money, continually forcing Raina Lowell to drink.

Adrian Grant watched, his handsome face suddenly becoming dark and cold under the dim light.

The hand resting on his leg was tightly clenched into a fist.

Isabelle Everett put on a show of sympathy, coquettishly saying:

"Adrian, you should tell them to stop, how can Raina drink so much?"

"Doesn’t she like money? Let her earn it."

Adrian Grant watched as Raina Lowell not only didn’t beg for mercy, but sat down right in front of him and his brothers, continuously pouring alcohol into her mouth.

He thought, damn this woman.

Is she willing to throw herself at any man who gives her benefits?

Why is she so disgraceful?

So young, not learning anything good, just how to please men.

No one noticed, Adrian Grant was already very displeased.

Isabelle Everett deliberately reminded those friends, "You guys should take it easy, stop bullying Raina."

The young men were cocky, determined to drink Raina Lowell under the table.

Continually transferring money to her.

Raina Lowell couldn’t remember how much she drank.

She looked at Adrian Grant sitting opposite her, her heart feeling like it was being gnawed by thousands of ants.

That kind of pain, tearing and heart-wrenching.

She vowed, from now on, never to love him again.

Her heart that loved him had already completely died.

Raina Lowell couldn’t drink anymore, her head heavy, vision darkening, collapsing onto the shoulder of the man beside her.

Seeing that they’d finally drunk Raina Lowell under the table, some of the men couldn’t help but lean into her.

Though they usually looked down on this orphan girl.

But being around her, the alluring scent on the girl made people unable to resist getting closer.

Adrian Grant watched his brothers’ actions, suddenly got up and shouted:

"Are you guys not afraid of death!"

Everyone was stunned.

Not understanding why Adrian Grant suddenly got angry.

Before they could react, Adrian Grant had already sidestepped Isabelle Everett and strode over, picking up Raina Lowell in his arms.

His sharp eyes pierced like swords at those brothers, exuding a powerful aura.

"I only let you tease her a bit, who told you to actually make her drink so much."

"If something happens to her, I’ll take your lives."

Still somewhat worried that Raina Lowell had drunk too much, Adrian Grant left the crowd, carrying Raina Lowell away.

Everyone was dumbfounded.

Not understanding what Adrian Grant was up to.

It was clearly him who asked them to drink with Raina Lowell.

So why were their lives threatened when something went wrong?

Several of them suddenly felt a bit frightened.

Isabelle Everett realized something, hurriedly got up and chased after them.

She jogged to catch up to Adrian Grant, concernedly saying:

"Adrian, let me go with you, I can help take care of her."

"Those guys were really too much, how could Raina, a young girl, handle such a torment."

Adrian Grant strode swiftly, leaving a remark, "No need, I’ll take her back myself."

Upon leaving the nightclub, Caleb Landon was already waiting with the car.

Seeing the CEO come out, he immediately got out of the car to open the door.

Isabelle Everett, unwilling, watched as Adrian Grant was about to get in the car holding Raina Lowell.

She pleaded again:

"Raina must be really uncomfortable at night, with me there, it’d be easier to take care of her."

"There are maids at home, no need for you to take care."

Adrian Grant still got in the car holding Raina Lowell.

Looking at Isabelle Everett, he added an explanation, "I have to take good care of her, or I can’t face my grandfather."

Then ordered Caleb Landon to drive.

Soon, the car disappeared into the night.

Leaving Isabelle Everett standing there, her face pale, heart filled with mad jealousy.

As a woman, she couldn’t help but feel Adrian Grant’s worry for Raina Lowell surely meant he had feelings for her.

What’s more, they had been married for a year already.

In that year, even if you hate someone, feelings naturally develop over time!

Isabelle Everett thought about how for so many years, she had been improving herself just to match Adrian Grant.

Then marrying Adrian Grant could also let her foster parents see her in a new light.

So, she absolutely couldn’t let Raina Lowell stay by Adrian Grant’s side forever.

Four years ago, she managed to make Raina Lowell leave.

Now, she also had ways to make them divorce, to make Raina Lowell disappear.

In the car.

Adrian Grant had been holding Raina Lowell in his arms.

Embracing her slender body, watching her flushed face, and frowning with a painful expression.

He couldn’t help but raise his hand to smooth her brow, scolding:

"Can’t drink but don’t know how to refuse, what are you showing off for."

Adrian Grant was very clear that he was disgusted with this little woman now.

The only reason he was taking her was to give an explanation to his grandfather.

He definitely wasn’t feeling sorry for her.

At this time, Raina Lowell’s phone rang.

Adrian Grant fished it out from her, pressed the answer button.

From the phone came a child’s soft and innocent voice.

"Mom, when are you coming to sleep with us, without you here, my sister and I can’t sleep."

Adrian Grant’s heart softened, looking at the woman in his arms, inexplicably speaking more gently.

"Your mom is asleep, she’s not coming over, you two go to sleep early."

The two little ones were thrilled to hear the stepdad’s voice.

"Wow, stepdad, you’re with mom?"

"Mm."

Adrian Grant corrected with a stern face, "Don’t call me stepdad, I can’t possibly be your stepdad."

The two little ones were a bit sad, asking in a pitiful tone:

"Why not? Handsome uncle, my sister and I are very well-behaved, if you’re willing to be our stepdad, I promise you won’t lose out."
