Surprise, CEO: Those Two Kids? They're Actually Yours!
Chapter 29: The Gifted Evelyn
CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: THE GIFTED EVELYN
How could Adrian Grant know that Raina Lowell would be so fragile?
Watching her vomit blood all over the floor, he felt quite distressed.
After Madam Cole came to clean up, he sat by the bedside, guarding her, not daring to leave again.
In the middle of the night, the phone on the bedside table rang.
It was Raina Lowell’s.
Adrian Grant picked it up and glanced at it; it was the same number as before, Ms. Ford’s.
He thought of the possibility that it was about those two kids again.
Adrian Grant pressed to answer.
On the phone, Evelyn softly pleaded, "Handsome uncle, can you come pick me up? I want to see Mom."
Adrian Grant glanced at the time, 2:00 AM.
It’s already two in the morning; why isn’t the little one resting yet?
He sternly educates:
"Your mom is fine, go to sleep quickly."
"No, my mom doesn’t drink alcohol; if she drinks, she’ll die."
Evelyn’s voice carried a childish sob.
"I’m worried about Mom. I’ve already gone out, but you’re so far away from me, I can’t walk to you. You have to come pick me up."
Before, when Mom wasn’t around, he often begged Aunt Lee to give him a phone.
Then he learned how to use phone location services.
And many other skills.
Knowing Mom had been drinking, he couldn’t sleep. He secretly took Aunt Lee’s phone and sneaked out alone to find Mom.
Adrian Grant was astonished, "Did you say you ran out of the manor by yourself?"
"Yes, I sneaked out while they were sleeping, but I’ll be careful. Handsome uncle, I’ll send you my location, so please come pick me up quickly."
The little one skillfully operated the phone.
Soon, his location was sent to the phone Adrian Grant was holding.
Adrian Grant indeed feared that it was as the child had said, concerned he might be taken by bad people. He immediately called Caleb Landon to go pick him up.
When Caleb Landon arrived, he indeed found Evelyn at the ATM in front of the bank.
He looked around and saw no adults.
And it was several kilometers away from the manor.
Caleb Landon hurried over to carry him into the car, quite shocked:
"You walked all the way from the manor by yourself?"
This was just a two-year-old child.
Not only did he run away from home, but he also knew how to call for help.
Caleb Landon really admired him.
Evelyn’s legs were numb from walking.
Finally sitting in the car, he drank water handed to him by the uncle and said:
"I ran here by myself. I wanted to see Mom, but she’s too far away from me. I couldn’t walk anymore, so I found you guys."
He originally wanted to take a taxi, but didn’t have money.
Moreover, taking a cab, it’s easy to be taken by bad people, and also easily sent to the police.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Evelyn thought it would be better to walk on foot.
Thankfully, Dad’s friend picked him up.
All the way, Caleb Landon simply didn’t know what to say about this child.
Was he really two years old?
Though small, what two-year-old would have such clear thinking, doing whatever he intended?
Anyway, he found it quite surreal.
It felt like the child had an exceptional gift, some kind of superpower.
Half an hour later, Evelyn was brought to Lowell Manor.
Adrian Grant asked Elias Sheridan to stay in the room to keep watch, personally going downstairs to see the child.
Just coming downstairs, Caleb Landon brought the child in.
Adrian Grant walked over with a stern face and asked Caleb Landon, "Really found him at the bank entrance?"
Caleb Landon nodded, genuinely said, "Too smart."
Adrian Grant felt that a child running around like this was not a good thing.
With feigned sternness, he crouched down and pulled Evelyn to educate:
"Aren’t you afraid of being taken by bad people when you run around like this?"
Evelyn laughed, full of confidence.
"There’s surveillance everywhere. Besides, I’m not foolish, how could I go with bad guys."
He scanned around the room, not seeing Mom.
With big eyes blinking, he asked, "Handsome uncle, where’s my mom? Take me to see her quickly."
"She’s asleep. I can take you to see her, but you mustn’t make noise, okay?"
Evelyn nodded his head; his demeanor was very obedient.
Adrian Grant was somewhat fond of him.
For a moment, he didn’t consider that he was someone else’s child, and led him upstairs.
Entering the room, he let the child go, speaking to Elias Sheridan:
"You can go back; I’ll handle it here."
Elias Sheridan turned his head.
He saw a little figure suddenly rush over, directly leaning against the side of the bed.
He was perplexed, looking at Adrian Grant.
"What’s going on, where’s this child from?"
Adrian Grant knew he couldn’t let this person know the truth.
Otherwise, it would soon spread to the old house.
He casually made up a lie, "Raina Lowell’s best friend’s child. Her friend got into trouble, leaving him here to be cared for a while."
Elias Sheridan was half-convinced, unable to resist watching the kid.
As a result, he was surprised to find the little one actually taking Raina Lowell’s pulse.
It should be taking a pulse, fingers accurately pressed on the pulse point, with a face full of concern.
Curious, he stayed, wanting to see what else the child would do.
Adrian Grant also noticed the strangeness of the child, and walked over to ask:
"Evelyn, what are you doing?"
Evelyn finished taking his mom’s pulse, looking angrily at Adrian Grant.
"Aren’t you Mom’s husband? Why would you let her drink so much alcohol? Her internal organs are damaged."
He felt very sorry for Mom, his eyelashes growing wet, turning his gaze to Elias Sheridan.
"Are you a doctor?"
Elias Sheridan was left speechless.
He squatted down, pulling the child, asked him, "Were you just taking her pulse?"
Thinking the best friend’s child called the aunt Mom seemed normal.
He didn’t ponder this question much, but was very surprised that such a small child could take a pulse.
Evelyn nodded, realizing the uncle in front of him was a doctor.
He said, "Do you have needles? Like acupuncture needles, can you give me some?"
Elias Sheridan asked him, "What do you need needles for?"
"I’m going to give Mom acupuncture; this way she’ll get better quicker."
The child’s words petrified Elias Sheridan once again.
He was unwilling to believe that acupuncture and pulse-taking, things high-level medical professionals do, would be done by a...
He seemed way too young.
Really interested in this child, Elias Sheridan asked Adrian Grant:
"How old is he? What do his parents do? This is simply a medical prodigy."
Adrian Grant also didn’t expect a two-year-old child, whose teeth hadn’t fully come in, to understand those things.
Seeing Elias Sheridan showing great interest in him, Adrian Grant felt a bit sour.
"Two years old. Who knows if such a small kid is hugging a phone every day, learning nonsense online."
The internet is so developed now, with no parents to monitor him, surely he is online every day.
Anyhow, he thought a two-year-old couldn’t possibly understand pulse-taking and acupuncture.
"No worries, anyhow sticking a few needles won’t kill someone."
Elias Sheridan spoke, then rubbed the child’s head:
"You wait, uncle will go get you needles."
If this child really knew how to use needles.
Then he must be brought under his tutelage promptly.
Surely he will achieve great things in the future.
"Mm, thank you, uncle."
Evelyn again focused his eyes on Mom.
Seeing Mom’s pale face, with blood around her lips, she must have vomited blood before.
Originally, he really liked stepdad.
But at this moment, he was extremely angry, unable to resist telling Adrian Grant off:
"I used to think you were great, wanted you to be my stepdad, but you can’t even take care of Mom."
"No wonder Mom said she doesn’t like you, so I don’t want you as my stepdad anymore."
