Chapter 37: Adrian Grant Accepts the Two Children
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: ADRIAN GRANT ACCEPTS THE TWO CHILDREN
After dinner.
Seeing Adrian Grant head upstairs, Raina Lowell hurriedly followed to prepare his bath and bring the clothes she’d long prepared.
Then, holding them, she came to the man’s side and saw him undressing.
She stood cautiously beside him, "Do you need my help?"
Adrian Grant didn’t look at her, turning silently and heading into the bathroom.
Obviously, he didn’t want her help.
Raina Lowell pouted, not thinking much of it, and placed the clothes on the sofa in the living room.
Just as she was about to turn and leave, the phone on the coffee table rang.
She tilted her head to take a look; it was Isabelle Everett.
Although she was still quite concerned about her husband’s relationship with Isabelle Everett, she thought Adrian Grant had already made things easier for her.
She should understand the law of reciprocity.
Raina Lowell took the phone to the bathroom door and called inside:
"Isabelle Everett is calling, do you want to take it? I can hand it to you."
There was no response from inside.
Raina Lowell opened a crack in the door, handed him the phone, and said again:
"Adrian, Isabelle Everett’s call."
The man was already sitting in the bathtub, not responding.
Raina Lowell had to push open the door to hand it to him.
Seeing Adrian Grant naked in the bathtub, his solid chest muscles exposed to the air, his tan skin exuding sensual allure.
Plus, his broad shoulders and narrow waist matched with a flawlessly handsome face.
With just one glance, Raina Lowell couldn’t move her eyes away.
Especially with his lazy posture leaning against the edge of the bathtub, eyes closed, his face showed dense fatigue.
For some reason, it gave others a guilty urge to bully him.
Raina Lowell did not deny that she liked his body very much.
After a year of married life, she had grown accustomed to its pleasures.
"Had your fill of looking?"
Adrian Grant still didn’t open his eyes, unmindful of the still-ringing phone, he instructed:
"If you’ve seen enough, come help me."
Raina Lowell returned to her senses, her face blushing uncontrollably.
"Isn’t that inappropriate?"
Even when their marital life was harmonious before, she had never helped him bathe.
Every time before or after, they handled things on their own.
Now he was asking for her help, she truly felt a bit embarrassed.
"If you don’t want to, just leave."
Adrian Grant didn’t force her.
During the three days on his business trip, he had thought a lot.
He felt that there were some things he could endure and accept.
So he was willing to give himself, or perhaps give her, another chance.
Seeing that the phone had stopped ringing, Raina Lowell considered turning to leave.
But then she thought, if she left, would Adrian Grant get angry and change his mind?
He had finally become so easygoing, accepting her two children, she should perform well.
Thinking of this, Raina Lowell set the phone down, took a towel, and carefully approached the bathtub to help him wash.
Adrian Grant never opened his eyes from start to finish.
Perhaps he didn’t want to see her.
Anyway, in Raina Lowell’s view, no matter where she helped him wash, he always had an expression she couldn’t decipher.
Of course, due to her touch, as a man, certain physiological changes were inevitable.
She inexplicably became agitated, having trouble breathing.
After finally washing him, Raina Lowell grabbed a towel and handed it to him, quickly slipping out of the bathroom.
If she didn’t leave, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to control herself.
She calmed herself downstairs for a long time, settled her emotions, and then went upstairs again.
She went to the master bedroom, not seeing Adrian Grant, she looked in the study.
There, she saw the man in a high-quality silk robe, sitting upright in front of the computer, immersed in work.
Raina Lowell walked over softly, "I want to ask you a question."
Adrian Grant wasn’t as cold as before.
Perhaps persuading himself to give her a chance, he also wanted to be more forgiving and accommodating.
This time he wasn’t as indifferent as before, "Speak if you have something to say."
Raina Lowell lowered her head, holding her breath.
"Tomorrow I’m bringing Aurora and Evelyn over. You said we should treat them as our adopted kids, so if they call me ’Mom,’ what do they call you?"
She needed to clarify, so she could later teach the kids.
Otherwise, it would be embarrassing if they slipped in front of others.
Adrian Grant thought of those two children’s father who had already died, so why care?
Adopting someone else’s children is still raising them.
Besides, they are Raina Lowell’s biological children, as a stepfather there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Adrian Grant was unwilling to admit that he was willing to accept those two kids, casually replying:
"They can call me whatever they want."
Raina Lowell noticed his reply wasn’t as cold as before.
Her heart felt warm.
So, what had changed his mind in those three days?
Or, after she confessed she couldn’t have children and was forced to keep Aurora and Evelyn, did he understand?
No matter the reason, Raina Lowell wanted to seize this opportunity.
As she was about to leave, she added:
"So... are we still sleeping separately?"
Adrian Grant looked at her, his gaze softer.
"If we’re not sleeping together, how do I know if you’re lying to me?"
Implying he wanted to personally test if she really couldn’t have children.
Raina Lowell naturally understood his meaning, blushing, she hurriedly left.
She returned to the master bedroom, changed into her sleepwear, and obediently waited on the big bed.
Adrian Grant didn’t join until midnight.
Knowing Raina Lowell wasn’t asleep, he wanted her but didn’t want to initiate, loftily saying:
"Please me."
Raina Lowell tensed up completely.
Even before, the two naturally flowed into such intimacy.
But after some conflicts, fulfilling marital duties felt somewhat awkward.
She was tense, not knowing how to start.
Adrian Grant thought she was unwilling.
So he didn’t force her.
But sleeping next to her, he couldn’t help himself.
He got up to leave the bed, changing rooms.
Raina Lowell thought he was leaving in anger, she quickly hugged him from behind, forcefully pushing him back onto the bed, entwining his neck and initiating a kiss.
She didn’t know why Adrian Grant had suddenly changed his mind and accepted her two children.
Perhaps it was because of Grandpa.
Even though he had once said he would divorce her to marry Isabelle Everett.
Still, while he was willing to coexist with her and the children, she would strive to be a good wife.
At least, ensuring she could face herself without regret.
Adrian Grant acquiesced to her.
The night ended in passion, and their marital relationship finally eased.
Waking up in the morning, Raina Lowell found herself sleeping on the man’s arm.
He lay facing her, with an arm wrapped around her waist.
Raina Lowell, seeing him still asleep, his handsome features made her heart flutter.
At this moment, the phone on the bedside table rang.
Raina Lowell, afraid of waking Adrian Grant, quickly grabbed it and was about to decline the call.
But saw it was Isabelle Everett’s call.
She hesitated whether to wake Adrian Grant when he awoke, took the phone from her hand, and got out of bed to answer it.
The person on the other end said something that made Adrian Grant’s expression change slightly. While getting dressed, he reassured them:
"Alright, I’m coming right over, don’t be afraid, just wait for me there."
