CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 40: DADDY, GIVE ME A HUG

Adrian Grant lifted his eyes and stared at Raina Lowell.

His handsome face showed no emotion, yet he didn’t deny the matter of seeing a doctor.

He wanted to see if what she said was true.

After all, this woman was prone to lying, he couldn’t let himself be fooled by her again.

After a brief pause, he buried his head to continue eating, and said in a deep voice:

"Fine, then tomorrow you go to the hospital with Madam Cole and bring me the test results."

Raina Lowell was stunned.

This feeling of being distrusted really left a bitter taste in her heart.

But she couldn’t blame anyone else; after all, she did deceive him before and told him some lies.

Raina didn’t say anything, she got up to tell Madam Cole to accompany her to the hospital for a check-up early in the morning.

Aurora and Evelyn soon came running back.

Seeing Adrian was having dinner, Aurora snuggled up to him, tugged at his clothes, her big eyes fluttering as she adorably shouted:

"Daddy, what are you eating? Can I have some?"

Evelyn stood nearby, with a little adult-like demeanor reminding:

"Sister, he doesn’t like us. Let’s go upstairs to play."

Adrian indeed didn’t like the two of them.

They were someone else’s children.

If they were his, he would surely have them by his side all the time.

He didn’t even glance at the children, nor did he respond, kept his head down and continued eating with a dark expression.

Aurora was reluctant to leave with her brother, and regardless of whether Daddy wanted her or not, she climbed onto his leg.

"Daddy, hug me, let me see what you’re eating."

Adrian had no choice but to evade the dining table, glaring at the child with feigned severity, "Get down."

"I don’t want to, I want Daddy to hug me."

Aurora climbed onto Daddy’s leg, suddenly plunged into his arms, joyfully bouncing her little short legs.

"Wow, Daddy’s arms are so warm and spacious, brother you should come up too."

Evelyn saw the old man about to lose it, hurriedly pulled his sister, "Get down quickly, he will hit you."

"Daddy won’t hit me, I’m so cute."

Aurora laughed, propped up her little body and looked at Adrian’s truly terrifying dark face, innocently:

"Daddy, do you like me? Am I cute?"

Adrian was tense, despite seeing the adorable child, speaking softly that really touched the heart.

But she was someone else’s child.

She was the child Raina Lowell had with someone else.

He just couldn’t feel paternal love for them, roughly pulled the child down.

Then he fiercely yelled at the child, "Don’t come near me again, you hear?"

Aurora thought Daddy would really like her.

But Daddy not only pulled her down from his leg but also yelled at her.

She was taken aback, pouting her little lips, feeling aggrieved and started shedding tears.

"What are you doing?"

Evelyn saw Adrian being fierce to his sister and roughly pulling her down, immediately stepped forward to shield his sister, defiantly shouted at Adrian:

"Can’t you be a little gentler?"

"Get out."

Adrian showed not the slightest bit of emotion, he even started yelling at Evelyn.

And this scene was just witnessed by Raina Lowell.

She hurried over to pull the children away, instructing them:

"Aurora, don’t cry, let’s play somewhere else, not here, okay?"

"But I want Daddy, Mommy didn’t you say we can call him Daddy? Why doesn’t he like me?"

Aurora cried out loud, tearfully looking at Adrian, really wanting Daddy’s hug.

Raina patiently explained to the children, "He’s still not used to your presence, give him some time!"

She quickly held her daughter and left, fearing her daughter would cry out loud to disturb Adrian.

Before leaving, Evelyn glared at Adrian, angrily puffing his chubby face:

"We like you and try to please you, if you don’t like us, then stay away from our Mommy."

"Next time if you yell at my sister like that, I’ll jump up and hit you, hmph!"

After shouting, he hurriedly chased after Mommy and Sister.

After mother and children left, Adrian sat there, not feeling anything wrong with his actions.

They weren’t his children, he could tolerate their presence, living in his house, it was already generous enough.

He had no obligation to care for their emotions, to accompany them in their antics.

Casually finished his meal, Adrian went upstairs to the study.

After Raina coaxed the children to sleep, she went back to the master bedroom on her own.

Soon, Adrian also came over.

Raina hurried to get his pajamas, drew a bath for him.

Then returned to bed to rest.

Adrian didn’t mind her, after freshening up he also got into bed.

But tonight the two faced each other without words, sharing the same bed but dreaming different dreams.

The next morning, at dawn.

Raina had no choice but to go to the hospital with Madam Cole for the check-up.

She knew, Madam Cole accompanying her was arranged by Adrian to keep an eye on her.

Just in case she lied and deceived again.

Raina didn’t mind, directly went to the gynecology department upon arriving at the hospital.

Adrian had also gone to work early.

By the time the two little ones woke up, both Mommy and Daddy were no longer home.

While Ms. Ford helped Aurora get dressed, she asked gloomily:

"Auntie, what can we do to make Daddy like us?"

Ms. Ford laughed bitterly, not knowing how to answer.

After all, she didn’t understand the situation between the children and Mr. Grant.

Next to them, Evelyn dressed himself, after finishing, he solemnly told his sister.

"Sister, don’t bother with that person, we just need to be ourselves. If he doesn’t like us, we don’t like him either."

"But I really like Daddy."

Aurora looked at her brother, frowned delicately and said:

"Brother, I think he should be our Daddy. Being with Daddy makes me feel at ease and very happy."

Evelyn corrected, "Nonsense, our Daddy is already dead, he’s not our Daddy."

"But I just want him to be our Daddy."

Aurora insisted on her decision.

Since they were going to live with Daddy from now on, she would definitely try her best to make Daddy like her.

Mommy said Daddy still hadn’t adapted to their existence.

Then she would wait, wait until Daddy adapted and liked them.

Evelyn helplessly shook his head, jumped off the bed to wash up.

The two little ones hadn’t started kindergarten yet, so after breakfast, they played in the garden, while Ms. Ford kept watch nearby.

Around noon, Isabelle Everett came over.

She came to see Raina Lowell.

Entering the courtyard, she saw the two little kids squatting not far away studying ants.

She was very curious, wondering how there were two kids here.

Just as she was about to go over and ask, Ms. Ford stopped her, quite vigilant.

"Hello, may I ask who you’re looking for?"

Isabelle, dressed brightly and acting arrogantly, told Ms. Ford:

"I’m looking for Raina Lowell, is she home?"

"Mommy and Daddy went to work, what do you want from Mommy?"

"What did you say? You’re Raina Lowell’s children?"
