Chapter 87: Came Home to See My Son Getting Hit
CHAPTER 87: CHAPTER 87: CAME HOME TO SEE MY SON GETTING HIT
Raina Lowell returned to Southgate.
Alaric Jennings personally sent her back.
It was evening when they arrived at Lowell Manor.
The lights in Lowell Manor were all on.
Raina Lowell wanted to give her son a surprise, so she didn’t ring the doorbell and directly entered the passcode to go inside.
But unexpectedly, when she pushed open the villa door, she saw Mrs. Grant raising her hand to slap her Evelyn in the living room.
Raina Lowell was furious, hurriedly rushed over and embraced her son to protect him, looking at Mrs. Grant and questioning:
"Mom, he is just a child, why are you hitting him?"
Evelyn saw his mother arriving, suddenly felt wronged, but stubbornly refused to cry.
Otherwise, it would upset his mother.
Especially since these days his mother wasn’t home, this old lady would come every day to pick a fight.
Either yelling at him or hitting him.
He wouldn’t argue with the elderly, solely focused on studying his poisons, learning medicine from Uncle Sheridan.
Unexpectedly, just as Uncle Sheridan had to leave, the old lady came to trouble him again.
Also always scolding his mother.
Now seeing his mother safely back, he turned around and hugged his mother, wishing so much that he would never be separated from her.
"You finally decided to come back."
Mrs. Grant looked at Raina Lowell, then noticed her bringing a man over, irately pointed at Alaric Jennings and asked:
"Is he the father of the child? Raina Lowell, how shameless can you be, having a child with someone else and then hiding it from everyone to marry Adrian?"
"How despicable can you get?"
Unable to contain her anger, Mrs. Grant raised her hand wanting to hit Raina Lowell.
But halfway through the air, Alaric Jennings came over and grabbed her hand, then forcefully pushed it away.
Alaric Jennings bent over to pick up Evelyn from Raina Lowell’s embrace, then looked at Mrs. Grant with a fierce gaze.
"So you’re Adrian Grant’s mother, a woman of such stature, yet speaking as if spewing filth."
"Let me tell you, the child is mine and Raina’s, and if you dare lay a finger on my child again, I won’t guarantee that I won’t hit an old hag like you as well."
After speaking, afraid that the child’s face might be in pain and feel wronged, he quickly comforted the child.
Evelyn was shocked to see the uncle holding him, timidly couldn’t believe it and cried out.
"Dad Alaric, are you here to take me and mom away?"
Alaric Jennings laughed, very satisfied with the child’s address for him, and patted his head.
"Yes, Dad is taking you and mom home, and if anyone dares to bully you again, Dad will slaughter them."
Evelyn was overjoyed, passionately kissing Alaric Jennings on the cheek.
However, seeing them truly as father and son, Mrs. Grant was infuriated, her old face twisted, completely losing her previous composure and elegance, glaring at Raina Lowell and cursing:
"How shameless can you be, the Grant Family spent money to send you abroad to study, yet you bore a child with someone else, brought back a wild man, and even angered your grandfather to death."
"Raina Lowell, quickly divorce Adrian, or I won’t let it slide."
Raina Lowell replied without hesitation:
"Rest assured, I will divorce him, but let me tell you, my grandfather wasn’t angered to death by me, it was Isabelle Everett who unplugged his oxygen tube."
Thinking of Adrian Grant being with Isabelle Everett, and even hitting her once.
In this life, even if she dies, she will never have any entanglement with Adrian Grant again.
But she cannot let Isabelle Everett succeed.
Raina Lowell met Mrs. Grant’s gaze, ashamed and resentful:
"If you truly have filial piety, then call the police to thoroughly investigate grandfather’s death, and stop Adrian Grant from being with Isabelle Everett, or grandfather won’t be at peace even in heaven."
"What did you say?"
Mrs. Grant sneered:
"Isabelle Everett unplugged your grandfather’s oxygen tube? Are you running out of people to blame, thinking she has the capability to go to the Grant Family and unplug the oxygen tube."
She wouldn’t believe a woman full of lies.
To absolve herself, truly capable of creating any sort of story.
To verify what Isabelle Everett said, Raina Lowell pursued:
"Then let me ask you, on the day grandfather passed away, was Isabelle Everett at the Grant Family?"
Mrs. Grant hesitated for a moment.
On the day her father-in-law passed away, she remembered Mrs. Everett coming over to chat leisurely.
At that time, indeed, she brought Isabelle Everett to the Grant Family.
But Isabelle Everett was sitting in the living room downstairs the whole time, never leaving, it’s only until they heard a servant shout from upstairs that the old man was dying that they went up together.
By the time they reached the room, the old man had already passed away.
So how could it be Isabelle Everett who unplugged the oxygen tube.
"Answer me, was Isabelle Everett at the Grant Family at that time? If so, did she leave your sight?"
Seeing her mother-in-law stunned and unable to respond, Raina Lowell was urgently seeking confirmation.
Even if she cannot kill Isabelle Everett to avenge her grandfather, she must have her sent to prison.
"Raina Lowell, enough is enough. I don’t deny that Isabelle Everett was at the Grant Family, but she never left my sight."
"Your grandfather died of the anger from you having a child with a wild man, and concealing it from him by marrying Adrian, don’t think of shifting the blame to someone else."
Raina Lowell saw her mother-in-law just like Adrian Grant himself, unwilling to believe her words.
She didn’t protest much, coldly said:
"Just go back and think carefully, has Isabelle Everett ever left your sight, has she bribed any of the household servants, once you think it through, report to the police to investigate."
"When Adrian Grant returns to the country, I will divorce him."
Her heart truly ached for her son who was slapped, Raina Lowell then took him from Alaric Jennings’ arms and turned to go upstairs.
Mrs. Grant wanted to curse again, but seeing Alaric Jennings’ fierce look as if wanting to kill.
She hesitated and stopped, opting to return to the old manor first to think about what happened the day the old man died.
Madam Cole saw the old lady finally leave and hurriedly went up the stairs following, walking beside Raina Lowell and said:
"Ma’am, you have no idea how many times Mrs. Grant came while you and Sir weren’t around; when Dr. Sheridan was here things were a bit better, but as soon as Dr. Sheridan wasn’t there, she’d take out her anger on Evelyn."
"These days, Evelyn truly suffered a lot."
Being just a servant, she didn’t have the qualification to stop anything.
Had no choice but to watch Evelyn being bullied.
Raina Lowell looked at her son with compassion, touched his swollen cheek, and felt a pang of sorrow.
"I’m sorry Evelyn, it’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have left you alone."
Evelyn had already calmed his emotions, no longer feeling as wronged.
He smiled to comfort his mother.
"Mom, I’m okay, the old lady hitting me doesn’t hurt, just that she keeps scolding mom, I hate her. Is Dad Alaric really taking us back to Yarrow?"
He really liked Dad Alaric.
Before they came to Southgate, Dad Alaric treated them very well, also treated mom well.
But at that time, mom didn’t let them call Dad Alaric as Dad, also said she wouldn’t be with Dad Alaric in the future.
So he and his sister slowly let go of Dad Alaric.
Unexpectedly now his mother was back with Dad Alaric.
If mom could truly take him and his sister away with Dad Alaric, they wouldn’t have to worry about mom being bullied again.
Raina Lowell didn’t deny what the child said, asked Madam Cole to get an ice pack.
Seeing Alaric Jennings come into the room, she patted the child’s head, unabashedly replied:
"Once mom finishes dealing with some matters, I will take you, your sister, and Uncle Jennings away."
