CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: TAKING THE INITIATIVE TO KISS HIM

Raina Lowell deliberately held her breath.

Not until Adrian Grant laid her on the ground and gave her artificial respiration did she pretend to wake up, spitting out water and mumbling:

"Aurora, Aurora, don’t be afraid, mommy’s here to pick you up."

"Raina..."

Adrian Grant saw her wake up and suddenly held her tightly in his arms, as if he had regained something lost, rubbing her little face, his voice trembling.

"Why are you so foolish, you have Evelyn even if you lose Aurora, is Evelyn not important to you at all?"

He was terrified when he pulled Raina up and saw her deathly pale face, without any breath.

He thought she was gone.

Gone from his world, just like last time.

Adrian Grant couldn’t suppress his feelings for her, wishing he could merge her entirely into his bones.

Raina Lowell slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing the man above her, with his tense jawline and a gulping throat.

She deliberately buried her face in his neck, weakly saying:

"Adrian, why didn’t you let me die? I want to accompany Aurora; otherwise, she’ll be scared being there all alone."

"Could you let me go?"

"Fool."

Adrian Grant’s heart felt as if it was being stabbed. He looked down at her, his eyes red with heartache.

"What about Evelyn if you go? Do you want to abandon him?"

"How about I bring Evelyn and Alaric Jennings over?"

Maybe with their father and son involved, Raina would have the motivation to live.

After all, these days, they were the ones accompanying her.

"No, I don’t want that."

Raina Lowell shook her head in refusal, "Adrian, the one I love is you, not Alaric Jennings. Please don’t push me to him."

She turned to hug his waist, ensuring he wouldn’t push her away in this vulnerable state.

Adrian Grant was indeed reluctant to push her away.

Afraid that if he left, he might never see Raina again.

He hurriedly picked Raina up, wrapped her in a towel, and carried her back to the bed in their room.

Madam Cole brought ginger water, which he personally handed to her.

Raina Lowell deliberately acted like she couldn’t swallow, shaking her head uncomfortably, refusing to drink.

Adrian Grant coaxed her patiently and gently, like soothing a child.

The phone rang nearby; it was Isabelle Everett calling, but he didn’t want to answer.

Raina Lowell feigned anger, "You’re about to marry Isabelle Everett, go find her, don’t care about me."

Adrian Grant picked up the phone, turned it off, set it aside, not bothering with it.

He raised his hand to caress Raina’s pale, thin face, his eyes full of pity.

"If I don’t care for you, you’d foolishly follow Aurora away."

"You’re still so young, you still have Evelyn to take care of, you must live on. If you still want children, I will find the best doctor for you, and surely there will still be children in the future."

There’s no way he could not care for her.

The first time he lost her, he was devastated, feeling worse than death.

That feeling, he never wanted to experience it again.

He hopes Raina can live well no matter what.

As long as Raina is okay, he can forgive everything she has ever done.

Even his grandfather’s death, he would let go of.

Raina Lowell leaned against the headboard, dazedly drinking the ginger water Adrian held to her lips.

Weakly, she asked him: "Can you stay with me more? I’m afraid that when I close my eyes, I’ll see Aurora and can’t help wanting to go with her."

She reached out to grab his clothes, not wanting him to leave.

As long as Adrian stays here, Isabelle Everett is bound to come.

Seeing Adrian being good to her, it’s impossible for Isabelle to hide her true nature.

Adrian Grant didn’t dare leave such a fragile Raina alone here.

What if she really followed Aurora?

He set down the bowl, helped her lie down, and tucked her in properly.

"Alright, I’ll stay with you, you get some rest!"

Raina Lowell asked him, "Will you go find Isabelle Everett once I fall asleep?"

Adrian Grant squeezed her hand and reassured:

"No, what I promised you, I can fulfill, ensuring you’ll find me here when you wake up."

Raina Lowell knew he was fickle.

He had promised her before, that if she signed the equity transfer agreement, he would go and accompany her with Aurora.

But did he? Until Aurora departed, Adrian Grant never even glanced her way.

Raina Lowell will never forget the time she kneeled and begged this man, yet he showed no trace of compassion.

One day, when he kneels and begs her, she will also not glance his way.

If not for revenge, she wouldn’t have wanted to see him at this moment.

Raina Lowell closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.

Adrian Grant genuinely thought she needed him; therefore, he couldn’t bear to leave and sat beside the bed keeping watch.

Isabelle Everett waited for Adrian Grant at the Grant Family home all night.

She called his phone, but it was turned off, and he didn’t reply to her messages.

Her face twisted with rage, unable to believe the man liked her so little.

On the first night of their engagement, he didn’t come home.

Afraid he went to see Raina Lowell, Isabelle Everett drove straight to Lowell Manor.

When she arrived, it was late at night. She stood at the villa entrance, obsessively pressing the doorbell.

Madam Cole got up and saw via the monitor that it was Isabelle and didn’t open the door immediately but went upstairs first.

Standing outside the room, Madam Cole reported:

"Sir, Miss Everett is here."

Adrian Grant looked at the time, realizing it was nearly midnight.

Afraid Isabelle Everett would disturb Raina’s rest, he, still sitting beside the bed, decided to get up and leave.

Raina Lowell suddenly grabbed his hand, feigning a nightmare.

"No, don’t leave me, Aurora, you like Adrian to be your dad, then I’ll go find him, I’ll beg him."

"Aurora, don’t leave me, mommy can’t live without you."

"Adrian, don’t abandon me, don’t leave me."

As she spoke, tears continuously streamed down from the corners of her eyes.

Seeing this, Adrian Grant’s heart ached, he hurriedly sat back down, leaned in close to comfort her:

"Okay, I won’t leave you."

Then, he said to Madam Cole at the door: "Just tell her I’m not here and ask her to leave."

Madam Cole understood immediately and hastily went to send Isabelle away.

Raina Lowell knew Isabelle Everett wasn’t going to leave easily.

She continued to pretend she was caught in a nightmare, uncomfortably leaning toward Adrian Grant’s side.

Adrian Grant noticed Raina’s discomfort, hugged her, and softly soothed her:

"Raina, I’m here; I won’t leave you. Rest easy!"

Raina Lowell hazily opened her eyes, seeing the man’s handsome face so close.

Even though she hated him, in order to provoke Isabelle Everett, she deliberately lifted her chin towards his face, kissing him.

Adrian Grant was momentarily stunned.

When he was about to refuse, Raina Lowell suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck, becoming even more passionate in her kiss.

A man in his thirties, how could he withstand such temptation?

Especially when the woman beneath him was his true love.

Knowing Raina now needed an emotional outlet, to help her forget her pain, he met her absolutely and responded, kissing her back.

Not realizing he already had another fiancée.

Madam Cole couldn’t stop Isabelle Everett.

In a furious rush to find Adrian Grant, Isabelle Everett barged into the villa.

Being familiar with the villa layout from when she lived there, she went straight upstairs to the master bedroom.

Opening the door and entering the room, she saw the two on the bed kissing passionately, the atmosphere charged with intensity.

At that moment, Isabelle Everett’s entire world crumbled.

She couldn’t help but exclaim, "What are you doing?"
