Swamp Lord with an Intelligence System
Chapter 27: Vine Fairy
CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: VINE FAIRY
Haggs had his men search around, but they could not find the Half-Fishman’s habitat.
Seeing this, Lear didn’t waste any time and continued onward.
After passing through an area of reeds, a stretch of aquatic plants lay ahead.
The green aquatic plants extended long strands, with pure white flowers blooming at the top, floating on the water’s surface and swaying gently with the swamp’s current.
A gentle breeze blew by, causing the white flowers to dance, releasing a refreshing fragrance.
Seeing this scene, Lear felt a slight sense of relief.
Just then, a Wetland Lizard-man ahead let out a cry of surprise.
He quickly approached.
In the muddy water, several enormous three-toed footprints, broader than a millstone, led deeper into the swamp.
An unidentified creature had passed through here.
Judging by the footprints, it was undoubtedly a monstrous entity...
Lear’s heart skipped a beat.
Even though there was no immediate sense of danger.
His internal alertness had heightened once more.
The swamp was fraught with countless dangers, never to be underestimated.
He glanced in the direction the creature had left, quietly noting it for future exploration.
Perhaps due to the lingering presence of the Flying Dragon, aside from the earlier Half-Fishmen, few swamp creatures were seen around.
Proceeding unimpeded, Lear felt a thrill as he emerged from a dense forest.
Before him stretched an area filled with low grass mounds.
Muddy streams flowed ceaselessly between these mounds.
These foot-high grass mounds rooted deeply into the swamp, anchoring patches of earth, forming stepping stones floating atop the swamp.
They were a common feature in the swamp.
Stepping onto a mound, Lear suddenly felt the area around him become dry and refreshing.
The typically swampy, humid air felt as if it had been drained of moisture.
Gazing ahead.
In the center of this swampy grass mound area grew a large cluster of vines, about twenty meters wide.
The thickest parts of the vines were as robust as thighs, while the tender branches at the top were thumb-sized.
What caught one’s attention were the glimmering dots on the vines that, under the sunlight, shimmered brilliantly.
As though a starry sky flowed through them.
Imparting a dreamlike quality.
Starry Sky Vine!
Lear’s eyes lit up instantly.
The appearance truly lived up to its name... a starry sky.
Judging by appearance alone, it was certainly no ordinary plant.
As he gazed intently.
In his mind, an Attribute Panel for it emerged.
Starry Sky Vine
[Level]: 2 Stars
[Traits]: 1. Tenacity—tough as steel ropes, hard to sever, capable of rapid regrowth after breaking.
2. Starry Sky—able to absorb starlight for growth, storing it as magic power, accelerating the recovery of nearby life forms’ stamina.
[Evaluation]: A unique vine in the swamp, requiring the care of a Vine Fairy to survive.
Lear was pleasantly surprised.
This turned out to be a 2 Star Magic Plant!!
Both traits were exceptional, not only tenacious... but also with a trait that accelerates stamina recovery?
This would be perfect for Construction!
However, the evaluation puzzled him slightly—what kind of creature is a Vine Fairy?
In his curiosity, he caught sight of a fist-sized peculiar creature zipping through the vines.
It had intricately woven green wings, dispersing tiny green sparkles with each flap.
Its skin was white and smooth, its face plump and round, she clad in a little vine dress.
Wearing a Thorn Crown on her head, she resembled a small princess.
Landing on a vine, the peculiar creature frowned at a white grub munching on the vine, feeling distressed.
With a wave of her hand, the Starry Sky Vine expelled a shower of light dots, sending the grub flying far away like a spring-loaded projectile, landing on a grass mound.
The chubby little darling giggled gleefully with a satisfied grin.
Then she flitted her tiny wings, continuing to patrol her domain...
This fist-sized, chubby little creature is the Vine Fairy?
Too adorably cute.
Lear was utterly charmed.
If this thing were on Earth... it would definitely be a top national treasure.
Vine Fairy
[Level]: Level 5
[Potential]: 3 Stars
[Racial Talent]: Gift of the Vines, capable of drawing power from vines to elevate their level.
[Skills]: Grow Fast and Big (2 Stars) emanates a unique energy to significantly hasten vine growth.
Magical Journey (2 Stars) can merge into the vines, using them to evade enemies, moving freely within them, and controlling the vines upon entering their roots.
Shimmering (2 Stars) makes itself glow, emitting light necessary for vine growth.
[Evaluation]: A unique magical life form, their presence is like spring flowers, summer cicadas.
Star potential?!
Lear felt a burning intensity in his eyes as he read on.
He sensitively perceived that these adorable little beings might be even more precious than the Starry Sky Vine!
The Intelligence System had rarely offered such a special evaluation.
He hadn’t expected such an unexpected gain.
Just then, the Vine Fairy flitting among the vines also sensed something unusual and let out a startled cry.
Directly transforming into a point of light, disappearing into the vine.
Scanning around, nothing remained but the spotted starlight of the vine.
That must be the skill... Magical Journey?
Indeed, how magical.
As Lear pondered, the Wetland Lizard-men exploring ahead neared the vine.
Whoosh~ The vine branches of the Starry Sky Vine suddenly began to dance wildly, resembling an octopus.
Whoosh whoosh~ The vines, tougher than steel cables, whipped through the air with a sharp cracking sound.
The Wetland Lizard-men were startled and hurriedly retreated.
Being struck by this, even armor couldn’t help!
For this vine cluster to thrive and propagate, it clearly wasn’t by chance alone.
Watching the dancing vines, Lear instead revealed a slight smile.
He most favored these immobile life forms... magic power circulated, spiritual power at full throttle.
An immense, towering aura surged forth.
Instantly enveloping the vine.
Divine Remnant!
At this moment, he could distinctly sense 16 life auras hidden within the vine...
Surprisingly, sensing the Divine Power, the Vine Fairies didn’t continue hiding but rather revealed their forms one by one with a bit of excitement.
Peeking from within the vines, they looked at him with nervous, excited, yet somewhat incredulous eyes.
"Father God... you have returned?!"
"We thought you had forgotten us..."
"Are you really the Father God?"
"Father God..."
Their excited and enthusiastic voices left Lear, who had intended to use power to command, a bit taken aback.
Father God?
Could it be that the Vine Fairies were created by the Swamp God?
Heart stirred, he gazed compassionately at these little creatures.
"Children... the past days are gone."
"I have returned."
"What is ours, I will reclaim."
"Come home with me, we shall begin anew..."
These words stirred all the Vine Fairies with excitement.
Feeling the soul-piercing aura of the Swamp God, they looked at him teary-eyed, wings fluttering as they flew over.
"Father God!"
"Father God, you have finally come for us..."
Lear easily etched an imprint onto their souls, observing the fond and trusting gaze of these fist-sized 3 Star beings.
A peculiar emotion stirred within him.
Could this really work? Isn’t this a bit too simple, I feel somewhat unaccustomed...
