CHAPTER 69: CHAPTER 69: PLAIN AND DULL +8

During playtime, we had so much fun, and now, lying down, we don’t feel like moving at all, feeling all lazy.

He Fang finished the big task of ear cleaning with a satisfied look on her face, even more joyful than Qin Guanglin who had his ears cleaned. Qin Guanglin was relieved to see her like this, thankful that he didn’t have any pimples, or else she would have surely squeezed them given her habits.

Holding Qin Guanglin’s head, He Fang snacked for a while. Stretching lazily, she looked around, then suddenly took off her shoes and socks and dipped her feet into the creek to play with the water.

"Be careful not to catch a cold," Qin Guanglin warned her, not sure if the "whatever" had left.

"It’s okay," replied He Fang, splashing some water. Then, she slowly leaned back and lay on a rock, pulling Qin Guanglin’s backpack under her head.

Seeing this, Qin Guanglin got up, "Your hair is tough to wash; lie here instead."

Blow-drying is already difficult; washing would certainly be more tiring.

"Annoying," He Fang felt he was being naggy, reached into her pocket, and thankfully found a piece of candy left un-eaten. She peeled off the wrapper, stuffed it into his mouth, "No talking until you finish eating."

"..."

Qin Guanglin didn’t speak, and He Fang also fell silent. The two of them, one horizontal and one vertical, quietly lay on the creek-side boulder watching the sky.

Under the azure sky, white clouds continually shifted shapes, and occasionally a bird flew over.

The afternoon sun was just right, warming their bodies without making them feel hot.

After a long while,

He Fang sighed softly, "I really wish this type of life could go on forever... What do you think?"

Qin Guanglin looked at her, not speaking. The candy wasn’t finished yet; he didn’t want to deal with her.

After waiting a moment without a response, He Fang propped up her head and glancing at him, then remembered she had forbidden him to speak.

"Good boy," she smiled with her eyes squinted, "Come a bit closer."

Qin Guanglin wriggled over a few times and lay down where it was softer by her stomach, more comfortable there.

"Get up," He Fang pushed his head with her hand, "Come on up."

Reluctantly, Qin Guanglin propped himself up, looking at her-demanding even when he lied down; what did she want now?

"Come a bit closer." He Fang pulled him near. When he was close, she placed her hand on his neck, pressed down hard, and employing her plum eating technique, snatched the candy away.

"You can talk now," she said with the candy in her mouth as she pushed Qin Guanglin away again.

"??"

Qin Guanglin looked baffled, what just happened?

That was his half-eaten candy!

"What are you staring at?" He Fang smacked her lips, thinking she should’ve just eaten it herself; it was so sweet.

"I..." Qin Guanglin, seeing a small bulge in her cheek from the candy, leaned in to snatch it back, "Give it back to me."

"No, stay away from me," He Fang pushed his face with her hand.

"Give it back."

The two of them wrestled for a while, but He Fang was no match for Qin Guanglin’s strength, and her hands were pinned down.

Crunch, crunch.

He Fang chewed the candy twice, then opened her mouth to show him, "It’s gone, you can let me go now, right?"

"It’s not gone, it’s melted in your mouth."

Qin Guanglin looked down at her and couldn’t help laughing, "Give back whatever is left."

"No..."

Debt collectors are typically unreasonable tyrants, often charging directly into a debtor’s home to mercilessly plunder as much as they can, leaving just enough food to prevent starvation.

Qin Guanglin, this particular debt collector, was even more unreasonable. Even though the debtor had cooperated warmly, he was not satisfied until he had scoured clean the last bit of their remaining food, then contentedly patted his rear and left.

"Still dare to steal my stuff and eat it?" Qin Guanglin wiped his mouth, looking at her smugly.

"Shameless." He Fang blushed and spat at him.

He had pinched too harshly just now; his waist probably hadn’t recovered yet, or he certainly wouldn’t have let him off.

"Let’s rest a bit longer before heading back." She lay lazily on a rock, not wanting to move an inch, having abandoned her initial plan to visit the waterfall.

"Mmm, let’s sit for a while longer."

Qin Guanglin nodded, turned around, and seeing her feet still dipped in the stream, he reached over and pulled them out, "It’s not good to soak them too long."

"Pfft." He Fang rolled her eyes at him, "There’s a small river near my home, I used to play there often when I was at home, and it was never a problem."

"That’s why you get stomach aches," Qin Guanglin declared righteously.

He had planned to let her dry off a bit. After pulling her feet out and feeling her cold ankles, he simply placed them in his lap and used his clothing to dry them, then grabbed a sock to put it on her.

Anyway, the clothes would need washing after lying on the rocks for half a day; they couldn’t be worn again.

He Fang kicked her feet, causing trouble for him, "Your dirty clothes are making my feet dirty."

"Stop moving." Qin Guanglin held her leg and forcefully slipped the sock on.

He Fang suddenly blushed, looked around left and right, "Do you know?"

"Know what?"

"A girl’s feet shouldn’t be touched carelessly." She muttered softly, "You’re being a hooligan."

"Heh." Qin Guanglin chuckled exasperatedly, "All this fuss just for helping you with your socks, why not?"

As he spoke, he intentionally moved his hand again, it was as slippery as her small hand, just a bit cold.

"Get away." He Fang twisted her body, her face redder, struggling to sit up, "I’ll do it myself."

"If you hadn’t moved, it would have been done already." Qin Guanglin finished one sock, grabbing the other to slip it on.

Hey, on closer inspection, he thought it looked quite nice...

He Fang uneasily shifted around, her face redder than when the debt was collected.

"Look how good I am to you, helping you with your socks and shoes." Qin Guanglin found it more and more appealing, couldn’t help but touch her again.

"..."

He Fang suddenly stiffened, pulling her leg back sharply, her eyes glaring at him, "Keep this up, and I... I’ll twist you again!"

Qin Guanglin didn’t understand her strong reaction, looked at her innocently, and handed over the sock, "Then you do it."

"I was supposed to do it myself." He Fang snatched it, slipped it on quickly, put on her shoes, and jumped up several times to shake off the strange feeling in her heart.

"Let’s go once you’re ready." Qin Guanglin bent down to pick up his backpack, preparing to head back.

Unknowingly, it was already four in the afternoon. After descending the mountain and taking a ride, it would be just in time for dinner.

"Are you hungry, do you want some snacks first?"

Feeling somewhat hungry, he turned and asked He Fang.

"Not hungry, I’ll just go straight to dinner." He Fang patted herself off and glared at him again.

Qin Guanglin scratched his head in confusion; was it just because he helped her with a sock?

Women are truly inexplicable.
