CHAPTER 72: CHAPTER 72: HELPING YOU MITIGATE THE SPICINESS

Leftover Guard fulfilled his duties well, cleaning the dishes off the table as He Fang watched him with a smile, handing him water from time to time.

"Ah—it’s too spicy." Qin Guanglin’s forehead was sweating, and the spice caused him to slurp noisily.

He couldn’t help but stare at He Fang for a moment, thinking that even the half-diluted seasoning was so spicy, wondering how she could eat it.

"What are you looking at me for?" He Fang flicked her hair beside her ear and smiled back at him.

Seeing her calm expression, Qin Guanglin found it somewhat incredible, "Don’t you think it’s spicy?"

"It’s spicy," He Fang nodded, "why else would I eat it?"

Eating spicy food is like driving a car, awkward at first but eventually you get used to it.

"You can’t even tell—ah, look how spicy I’ve become?"

Qin Guanglin couldn’t help but take another big gulp of water, feeling that probably half his stomach was filled with water, "Is there any sugar left?"

"No, you had the last piece."

He Fang remembered the afternoon’s events at his mention of sugar, and couldn’t help but purse her lips and lick them. The silly guy learns everything so fast, she wondered how he did it.

When Qin Guanglin heard there was no sugar left, he wiped his mouth in disappointment, then finished the water in his cup and stood up to grab He Fang, "Let’s go now that we’re full."

"Yeah, let’s go back and rest."

The two left the hot pot restaurant and walked along the road. There were many people during the day, but it quieted down at night. Logically, seven o’clock should be a lively time, yet the streets were nearly empty.

Qin Guanglin figured it out—the area was mostly tourists who, like them, were tired after a day of activities. After dinner, everyone probably just wanted to go back to rest, having no interest in wandering around.

After returning to their lodging with He Fang, he immediately took another big drink of water from beside the bed and slightly regretted being persuaded by He Fang to eat something so spicy. What was the point?

He brought it upon himself.

"Is it really that spicy?" He Fang sat on the bed finding it a bit funny, "Should I go buy you some sugar?"

"No need, I’ll just drink more water."

It was already dark, and Qin Guanglin didn’t want He Fang to go out alone and too lazy for them to run out again, he decided it was easier just to endure.

"Hey, right." He Fang suddenly remembered something, "I still owe you a reward."

It was promised on the mountain road when he carried her. If it were before, this fool would have definitely kept thinking about it and brought it up earlier. It seemed he was truly tired today, even forgetting that.

"Really, a reward for what?" Qin Guanglin suddenly perked up, staring straight at her.

Biting her lip, He Fang looked up in thought, then smiled again at him, "What do you think?"

"Could I...?" Qin Guanglin reached out his hand, his expression a bit excited.

"Not that!" He Fang walked over and pushed him down, sitting on his legs and looking down at him, "I can help you with something else."

"What else?"

"This." She leaned forward, touched Qin Guanglin’s lips with her finger, then bowed her head and pressed a kiss.

It was much gentler than Qin Guanglin’s attempt at claiming a debt that afternoon, as soft as the spring rain, slowly and gently lapping.

"Still spicy?" After a while, she lifted her head and asked.

Qin Guanglin, still holding her, said, "A little."

This was much better than sugar.

He Fang smiled, "Wait a moment."

She reached for the water Qin Guanglin had placed to the side, took a sip, and then bent down to kiss him again.

"Um..." Qin Guanglin tightened his arms around her back, and now it wasn’t spicy at all; the mineral water was really as the advertisement said, sweet and refreshing.

He Fang always managed to give him little surprises, and he didn’t know if she was doing it on purpose, but he felt himself falling deeper and ultimately he’d soon be unable to live without her.

It took a while before He Fang straightened up and looked at him with a smile, "It’s worth carrying me for so long, wasn’t it?"

"Piece of cake, piece of cake," Qin Guanglin was delighted, "I’ll continue to carry you tomorrow."

Couples should always add a little fun to their relationship; he couldn’t help but look forward to the prospect of living together.

He Fang kissed him on the face before getting up, "Okay, I’m going to wash my hair now, help me blow dry it later."

"How about I wash it for you?" Qin Guanglin volunteered eagerly.

"No need, just take a break."

He Fang grabbed the t-shirt she used as a pajama from the bed and shuffled off to the bathroom in her slippers.

Qin Guanglin lay on the bed, closed his eyes, and reminisced for a while, unable to suppress a chuckle as he thought about what other people’s girlfriends were like; surely his was the best.

If only she could openly snuggle into his bed... Wow, that would be even more perfect.

He Fang was slow in washing her hair, taking over twenty minutes before coming out with a towel wrapped around her head, just like yesterday, pulled a stool over, and sat in front of Qin Guanglin’s bed, rightfully exercising her girlfriend’s privileges.

Qin Guanglin, while using the blow dryer "woooo", sneakily enjoyed the perks of drying hair; the loose t-shirt was truly a brilliant thing, giving him almost a complete view from behind.

He’s going to have her sooner or later—Qin Guanglin thought, and any trace of guilt in his heart vanished, only worried that, like last time, he might start bleeding profusely again so he kept chatting with He Fang, attempting to distract himself.

In the midst of their conversation, he suddenly remembered something, "How’s your novel going?"

"Just writing it occasionally."

"Did the publishers accept it?" Qin Guanglin was surprised, as getting rejected is quite normal, and usually, it needs several revisions.

"They did," He Fang replied naturally, "would they dare not to accept something written by Teacher He?"

"Amazing, Teacher He is just amazing," he praised, looking at a certain place, "impressive everywhere."

He Fang hummed proudly, just about to speak, then suddenly noticed her neckline was wide open, pulled it up with her hand, frowned, and turned back to look at Qin Guanglin.

"What’s wrong?" Qin Guanglin asked, feigning calm.

"Have you been staring all this time?"

"Staring at what?" he pretended to be clueless.

He Fang glared at him; it was impossible not to see from behind, he was definitely peeking.

Qin Guanglin pretended to look innocent, "Come on, turn back around, I’m not done yet."

"..."

He didn’t admit it, and He Fang didn’t have many options; having seen it already, she could only be more careful in the future.

She turned back to let Qin Guanglin continue blowing her hair, but a moment later, she frowned again. Yesterday, the nosebleed had also happened while blowing her hair... Thinking of this, she became even more certain of his mischief and turned aggressively to look at him.

"You weren’t behaving yesterday."

"How was I not behaving?" Qin Guanglin decided to deny it anyway.

"Why the nosebleed?"

"Got too heated up, lamb soup was too nourishing."

"You’re such a pervert!" He Fang sniffed, humphed, and sat back down, "Keep going."

Allowing him to take such advantage of her, what a loss. Tomorrow she would make him carry her even longer.
