Chapter 67: An Absurd Proposal
CHAPTER 67: CHAPTER 67: AN ABSURD PROPOSAL
Song Dabai obediently nodded, turning his head to see the toys in the corner of the living room, many of which he had wanted before, but his mommy wouldn’t buy them.
There were cars, cannons, armored vehicles, and various robots. Wow, they all looked so fun...
Song Dabai was overjoyed, running over to play with the toys happily.
And on that leather sofa, only Lu Jihan and Song Yinyin were left.
Knowing it was time to get to the point, Song Yinyin nervously swallowed, her ears perking up.
She had a feeling that Lu Jihan was about to come clean with her.
But she couldn’t fathom what exactly he wanted to say.
As she was pondering, she heard Lu Jihan’s low, magnetic voice slowly emerging: "I have a proposal."
"Uh, go ahead," Song Yinyin listened intently, holding her breath.
"I can see that our son can’t be without you, but I also want to raise him. Since neither of us is willing to give up custody, there is only one solution, and that is—marriage."
Marriage?
Her mind went blank, as if hit by a high-pitched cannon blow that shook her brain, her expression freezing on her face.
It took her a while to come to her senses.
She looked at Lu Jihan in disbelief, snapping, "You’re really insane!"
Before, who was it that acted like she was a sticky plaster that couldn’t be shaken off, afraid she’d cling to him, trying to drive her away, and now suddenly he changes his mind and wants to marry her?
Is he out of his mind, proposing such an absurd idea!
Having anticipated her reaction, Lu Jihan remained unfazed and continued saying:
"You wouldn’t want our son to grow up without a father, right? A child lacking a father’s love can have extremely severe impacts on their life. Do you want to see your son’s future unhappy?"
"Of course I don’t want that," she replied immediately.
"Then that’s settled," he retorted with a raised brow.
Song Yinyin bit her lip, "But I have no feelings for you, how can two people without feelings get married? We don’t even like each other, how are we supposed to develop feelings?"
Lu Jihan frowned slightly, "If there’s no affection, then foster it. If you can’t even manage that, how can you bring happiness to our son?"
Song Yinyin stared at the man in front of her in disbelief, as if she had heard the biggest joke in the world.
But Lu Jihan’s expression was serious, without a trace of humor.
"Or, we could compromise, live together for six months, and consider marriage after that. If it turns out we’re not suited to marriage, then we can decide who gets custody. How does that sound?"
A retreat that allows for progress; it sounded like a good suggestion.
The crucial point is, this is the best decision for their son.
Song Yinyin bit her lip, feeling a bit hesitant.
She could also see that her son liked Lu Jihan, and if they were forcibly separated, her son probably wouldn’t be able to handle it...
Her hesitation was clearly observed by Lu Jihan’s sharp eyes.
The next second, he added, "Of course, if you agree, I’ll fully support you in every aspect of life and career, fulfilling the duties of a prospective husband and father. A woman of mine, Lu Jihan, will never be wronged even a bit."
His attitude was sincere, but Song Yinyin felt that this proposal was simply too absurd.
Unable to immediately think of a valid reason to refuse, she could only say offhand, "I, I... I need time to think."
"I’ll give you three days, is that enough?" His sharp gaze locked onto Song Yinyin’s face, allowing no escape.
