CHAPTER 274: CHAPTER 274: SQUATTING IN SOLITUDE

"What if we can’t get it?" Wan Shaohu poured cold water on Sang Ning’s enthusiasm. Trying to dig up dirt on Qingyue in just a couple of days? Sang Ning was practically daydreaming.

"If we can’t get it, then you can die with me! I can’t survive in the entertainment industry anymore, so I might as well drag a few people down with me!" Sang Ning let out a few chilling laughs, her expression resembling that of a psychotic villain in a movie.

Wan Shaohu shivered, goosebumps rising all over his body. Sang Ning had gone mad—now even random stray dogs passing by might get bitten by her.

"Sang Ning, I still have to go to work. I don’t have time to camp out with you. Can’t you just find someone else?" Wan Shaohu softened his tone and begged.

Sang Ning nodded and said, "Fine. I’m a reasonable person. If you want to go to work, I’ll drive you back right now."

"R-Really?" Wan Shaohu couldn’t believe Sang Ning would let him off so easily.

He stared at her intently, scrutinizing her expression to see if she was lying.

Just then, Sang Ning suddenly turned her phone sideways and pointed it at him, catching him off guard. Wan Shaohu instinctively leaned back slightly.

"You just need to recite the following lines for me, and I’ll let you go." Sang Ning aimed her phone’s camera directly at Wan Shaohu and opened the recording interface.

Wan Shaohu gulped nervously, his voice weakening. "What do I have to say?"

"Just say—" Sang Ning paused for a second, "I, Wan Shaohu, am Sang Ning’s loyal fan. I will fight against the injustice of the production team for my idol, and I pledge to expose Qingyue’s true colors. I love Sang Ning! I love Sang Ning! I love Sang Ning!!"

Wan Shaohu: "..."

Wan Shaohu was internally resistant, but he was forced to record the humiliating video.

Sang Ning didn’t just coerce him violently into recording it; she also demanded he do it perfectly.

In the video, he appeared spirited and impassioned, vividly embodying the image of a "die-hard fan," with no trace of being under duress.

After finishing the video, Sang Ning kept her word and drove Wan Shaohu back.

Wan Shaohu felt incredibly miserable—not only had he been forced to record the video, but he also had to provide Sang Ning with the high-powered camera typically used by Station Sisters.

She really had mastered freeloading. Did she even know how expensive professional Station Sister cameras were?

On top of supplying a professional camera, Wan Shaohu’s car had also been requisitioned by Sang Ning!

And he had to maintain constant contact with her, sending updates via WeChat about Qingyue’s every move.

After returning to the control room, Wan Shaohu had lost the will to work. He sat silently in front of the massive screen, monitoring Qingyue’s movements through the camera feeds.

It was rehearsal time for the contestants, and Wan Shaohu stared at Qingyue for hours on end.

As the rehearsal was nearing its end, Wan Shaohu sent Sang Ning a text on WeChat: [Superstar, Qingyue is about to leave.]

Sang Ning was extremely cautious. She had added Wan Shaohu using a secondary WeChat account and even insisted that he not call her by name, only by the nickname "Superstar."

Sang Ning: [You can leave too. Hurry up and get in the car; I’m waiting for you.]

Wan Shaohu was reluctant to go but had no choice. Before leaving the control room, he couldn’t help but kick a chair and table heavily.

The people in the control room instantly fell silent, sneaking glances at Wan Shaohu. Had the director lost his mind today?

Everyone else was terrified, except for Xiao Yu, who sighed in relief.

She had no idea what had happened during Wan Shaohu’s absence to make him end up like this upon his return, but as long as he didn’t bother her, she didn’t care if he flipped the whole control room upside down.

Afraid of angering Sang Ning further, Wan Shaohu didn’t dawdle for long.

In the underground parking lot, Sang Ning had fully reclined the passenger seat and was lying there with her eyes shut, leisurely dozing.

Wan Shaohu opened the passenger door but was met with Sang Ning’s command, without even a glance from her: "Go around and drive."

"Sang Ning, can you have a shred of decency? My arm’s almost broken because of you. How am I supposed to drive?" Wan Shaohu glared at her furiously, throwing a few air punches in her direction.

"Didn’t I fix it for you? Stop whining. If you don’t get in the driver’s seat now, I might actually break your arm." Sang Ning threatened bluntly.

Wan Shaohu threw a few more punches in her direction, but as he swung, Sang Ning opened her eyes: "I’m just resting my eyes, not dead. Don’t pull any cheap tricks in front of me."

The anger in Wan Shaohu’s eyes instantly turned to fear. In his panic, he redirected his punches to his own chest, pounding it while coughing violently. "I think I might have caught a cold. My throat feels off."

Sang Ning didn’t bother to expose his pathetic excuse; she simply shot him a cold look.

After a few fake coughs, Wan Shaohu gave up the act and reluctantly moved to the driver’s seat.

"Where are we going now?" Wan Shaohu asked after fastening his seatbelt.

"Follow Qingyue. Wherever his car goes, we follow." Sang Ning kept her reclined position, looking exceedingly relaxed.

They waited in the underground parking lot for several minutes before Qingyue finally arrived.

As Qingyue’s van left, Wan Shaohu started the car and drove after it.

"Keep a good distance; don’t let Qingyue notice we’re tailing him." Despite lying on the reclined passenger seat, Sang Ning had no trouble issuing orders.

Wan Shaohu mumbled under his breath: "Like you need to tell me!"

He didn’t want Qingyue to find out he was now aligned with Sang Ning either.

After finishing the recording, Qingyue’s van directly headed back to his residence.

As the familiar gates of the community loomed closer, Wan Shaohu felt a spark of liberation and said with glee to Sang Ning: "Sang Ning, Qingyue’s home. This stakeout is over for today, right?"

"Over? What’s over?" Sang Ning slowly adjusted her seat upright and stared ahead at the van through the car window. "This is just the beginning."

"But I’m already home!" Wan Shaohu emphasized. Surely Sang Ning couldn’t be so insane as to follow him into his own home.

"Then we’ll camp out at your place first—see if that mysterious rich lady visits Qingyue tonight." Sang Ning showed no sign of leaving.

Wan Shaohu was speechless: "Sang Ning, I’m a married man. If you show up unannounced at my house, how am I supposed to explain it to my wife and daughter?"

"Don’t think I don’t know this house was specifically bought for your affairs. Besides, your wife and daughter are overseas right now. Who are you trying to fool?" Sang Ning sneered.

Wan Shaohu felt like he’d seen a ghost. How did Sang Ning know everything? She was terrifyingly capable!

The neighborhood where Wan Shaohu and Qingyue lived consisted of upscale mid-rise buildings, each seven stories tall. Qingyue’s building was on the second floor, diagonally across from Wan Shaohu’s top-floor penthouse. His living room faced Qingyue’s living room directly.

As soon as they entered Wan Shaohu’s living room, Sang Ning set up the camera and drew the curtains, leaving only a small gap for the lens.

By naked eye, it was impossible to see the full layout of Qingyue’s living room, but with the Station Sister camera set up, even the patterns on Qingyue’s coffee table were crystal clear. High-tech gadgets really were amazing.

Like a panther in the night, Sang Ning patiently waited behind the lens.

Finally, Qingyue appeared in his living room, and Sang Ning instantly perked up.

The next moment, Qingyue walked to his balcony, cautiously scanned his surroundings, and then pulled the curtains tightly closed.

Sang Ning: "..." A pointless stakeout!
