CHAPTER 385: CHAPTER 385: WANT TO GO AND BREAK THE MONSTER

"That bastard better not come back! If he does, I’ll beat him to a pulp!" Wei Lejun pretended to speak harshly, but inside, she was feeling thoroughly annoyed.

Sure enough, a dog can’t stop eating crap. She should never have trusted Lian Qi so easily.

As Wei Lejun was stewing in irritation, Sang Ning piled several wooden sticks in front of her and ordered her to get to work: "Stop thinking about that bastard. Do you still want to leave with us? If you do, then get to work now!"

Expecting Wei Lejun might resist the arrangement, Sang Ning deliberately used reverse psychology, adding, "What’s the matter? Can’t work without that bastard? Want me to go fetch him back for you?"

"No need! Men only slow down my boat-building progress!" Wei Lejun said as she bent down to pick up the sticks.

Sang Ning nodded in satisfaction. As expected, the only things that could deal with Wei Lejun were that bastard or reverse psychology.

Overhead, the drones that had been loaded with supplies had successfully unloaded their cargo. A formation of a dozen drones regrouped and flew back in the opposite direction of the forest.

Joy, pure joy. If everything progressed smoothly, they would probably be able to leave the forest by around early afternoon.

Deep within the dense forest far from the riverbank, Lian Qi was sprinting at full speed, not daring to stop until he was far beyond the sight range of those four women. Only then did he slow down and catch his breath.

He did want to leave the forest, but he didn’t want to be stuck doing hard labor to do so.

More importantly, he didn’t trust Sang Ning’s character. What if he helped them finish building the boat, only for Sang Ning to turn around and kick him out? He had no intention of doing all the work just to benefit someone else.

While leaning against a large tree to catch his breath, he ran into Qin Feng and Hu Yirun.

Both of them started throwing mocking, sarcastic remarks at him.

"Well, well, look who we have here! Isn’t this our big brother Lian Qi?"

"Big Brother, didn’t you snatch the first batch of supplies and bail ages ago? Why are you still lurking around the forest? Couldn’t bear to leave us, huh?"

Lian Qi had just finished doing all the dirty, exhausting work, followed by a long sprint. Now, he was propped up against a tree, looking utterly drained, as if he might pass out at any moment.

Suddenly, Qin Feng and Hu Yirun decided to act like hooligans. They reached out and started groping at Lian Qi’s chest as though mocking him like a virtuous woman being harassed.

"Get lost! Don’t touch me! Are you two insane?!" Lian Qi cursed while using his hands to fend off their shameless antics.

Blame it on his earlier sprint sapping his energy—otherwise, he’d have smacked these two idiots around properly.

After a few laughs, Hu Yirun finally stopped messing around, wiped the sleazy grin off his face, and asked seriously, "Where’s the stuff? What happened to the first batch of supplies? Weren’t you with Wei Lejun? Didn’t you take the boat-building materials and two survival backpacks?"

"Nothing! I’ve got nothing! Look at me now—does it look like I have supplies?" Lian Qi waved his hand in denial, sounding impatient.

But Hu Yirun and Qin Feng didn’t believe him, thinking he was playing dumb.

"Something’s off about you, kid!" Qin Feng gave Lian Qi a scrutinizing look. "You’re not the type to take losses lightly. I don’t believe you didn’t get any supplies from Wei Lejun!"

"Spill it! If you don’t hand over the supplies, don’t blame us for what happens next!" Hu Yirun grabbed Lian Qi by the collar and threatened him, "No supplies? Fine, we’ll strip you and leave you here naked. Let’s see if you’re still stubborn then!"

"I really don’t have anything! Haven’t you heard the broadcast? The first batch of supplies was missing key adhesive materials. Without that, who could even risk leaving?" Lian Qi was fed up with the pair, unable to shake them off, like two pieces of sticky candy.

To get rid of them, he tried diverting their attention: "You want supplies, right? Then go to the riverbank! Sang Ning and the other girls are there building boats. If you hurry over, maybe you can get something from them!"

"The riverbank? Are you sure? Are you sure they really have something useful?" Hu Yirun asked, suddenly recalling that he had seen three women heading in that direction earlier.

"Absolutely sure. Go on, they have several finished boats over there. You won’t even need to scavenge for materials—just ask them for a boat, and you’re set." Lian Qi’s reply was sincere on the surface but tinged with a hint of dismissal.

"Let’s go check it out! Sang Ning might actually have something good. Otherwise, why would she be so determined to leave without even bothering about the supplies?" Qin Feng urged Hu Yirun.

But Hu Yirun hesitated: "No way, that’s Sang Ning we’re talking about—the tiger herself. Trying to snatch stuff from her? You’d have to be suicidal!"

"Coward." Qin Feng shot him a sharp look. "Who says we’re stealing? We’re just going to take a look. Worst case, we hitch a ride and sneak onto her boat."

Although Qin Feng said he was going to mooch off them, deep down, he was plotting sabotage. He didn’t mind losing, but he couldn’t stomach Sang Ning winning.

Sang Ning had seriously pissed him off when she showed zero regard for him during the scramble for the first round of supplies.

He was Young Master Qin. When had he ever suffered a blow to his ego like that? Even the director usually gave him face. Sang Ning was the first person to disregard him so blatantly, and he found it utterly unforgivable.

"Forget it, forget it. Why don’t you go instead?" Hu Yirun said, trying to shirk.

"Fine, but don’t regret it later. You’ll be stuck in this godforsaken forest scavenging for supplies while I’m out there cruising in a finished boat. I won’t wait for you!" Qin Feng sneered, preparing to leave Hu Yirun behind.

After Qin Feng walked a few steps away, Hu Yirun started wavering.

He’d already paid dearly for supplies today. Damn this cursed production crew—not even a warm meal provided. He’d been surviving on random jungle fruits that barely filled his stomach.

He didn’t have the energy to keep searching for supplies. Let others do the grunt work—he’d stick with Qin Feng and try his luck.

Once Qin Feng and Hu Yirun left, Lian Qi cautiously moved his footing, revealing a military-green strap lying on the ground.

He grabbed the strap and tugged it, pulling out an oversized backpack from the underbrush.

Those two idiots—too busy hassling him to notice the massive backpack tucked behind the tree!

Serves them right!

Lian Qi had tracked the flight path of the drones before heading to this specific spot. The drone Qin Feng and Hu Yirun had fixated on must’ve been the same one he had pursued.

But now that the competition was gone, the supplies were his!

Not wanting anyone passing by to discover him, Lian Qi hoisted the backpack onto his shoulder and ran toward the area with the densest foliage to unpack the goods.

How bizarre—this backpack was half his height, yet it felt so lightweight?
