Chapter 488 - chapter 488 - A Difference in Perspective
As Taufik finished all he needed to do on Midgard, he turned to Elaria and Thalia.
"It's time for you both to go back," he said softly, forming a faint ripple of light that expanded into a radiant gate.
Elaria hesitated for a moment, glancing at Thalia, who seemed deep in thought.
Taufik didn't say much else, he knew Thalia would have a lot to explain once she returned to her mother. Whether the Dawnmother accepted or not, that was no longer his concern.
He simply waved his hand, and in a gentle sweep of brilliance, the two vanished through the gate, returning to the Kingdom of Light.
When the light faded, silence returned.
The world stood still again, only the whisper of wind and the distant hum of the newly awakened Mana lingered in the air.
Taufik exhaled quietly. He was alone once more.
He raised his hand, fingers brushing through the air as if parting the fabric of existence itself. Shadows and light folded together, forming a spiraling rift that pulsed with divine resonance.
A portal to Asgard.
Without hesitation, Taufik stepped through.
---
- Asgard
In the heart of the golden realm, beneath the endless sky of shimmering light, the air distorted as a portal tore open before the Hall of Valaskjálf.
The Allfather was already waiting.
Odin sat upon his throne, his single golden eye reflecting the countless threads that wove through Yggdrasil's worlds.
His ravens, Huginn and Muninn, circled overhead, restless and uneasy, their cries echoing across the marble hall.
When the ripple of the portal reached him, he didn't flinch. He had known who would come.
From the swirling light, Taufik emerged, calm, composed, and smiling faintly as though he had merely returned from a walk.
"Yo," Taufik greeted casually, raising one hand. "I'm back"
The air trembled slightly at his presence, the faint echo of foreign authority brushing against the divine laws of Asgard.
Odin's expression hardened. The calm weight of centuries pressed through his voice as he spoke.
"What have you done?"
His tone wasn't anger, it was disbelief.
Behind the calm, there was tension, the kind that made even the air between them feel sharp.
Taufik met his gaze without flinching, his smile thinning into something unreadable. The faint golden light from the mirror-pool reflected in his eyes, making them look almost divine.
Taufik lowered his hand, "You already know, don't you? You felt it the moment I did it"
Odin's single eye narrowed. The runes that glowed faintly across his throne pulsed in rhythm with his heartbeat.
"The flow of Yggdrasil trembled," he said slowly. "A ripple that reached even the highest branches. You tampered with the World-Script"
Taufik smirked faintly. "Tampered? No. I added. There's a difference"
The Allfather rose from his seat. The air around him thickened, shimmering with divine pressure; lightning curled lazily around his spear, Gungnir.
"You added something that does not belong, Forgotten One. The balance of the Nine Realms depends on Yggdrasil's Law. What you have done is heresy, even for one like you"
Taufik didn't flinch.
"Funny," he said softly. "You speak of balance, yet it was you who severed humanity from Mana. You feared what they could become"
Odin's voice turned sharp. "I preserved the order of the realms! Mortals were never meant to hold divine"
"And yet they once did," Taufik replied. His tone wasn't angry, only disappointed. "You took their wings and called it mercy. I gave them hope and called it faith"
A long silence followed. Wind drifted through the hall, carrying faint echoes of thunder from beyond the golden walls.
Then Odin said, "You speak of hope, but what you've given them is power. Power always hungers. They will turn it against you, against me, against everything"
"Maybe," Taufik said with a faint shrug. "Maybe not. That's their choice. That's what makes them human. I didn't create puppets, Odin. I created chances"
The Allfather studied him, his gaze ancient and measuring. "You would risk another Ragnarok just to see if your 'chances' bloom?"
"If Ragnarok must come," Taufik said quietly, "then let it be a new one, one born from humanity's will, not the arrogance of gods"
Lightning cracked in the distance. For a moment, the sky over Asgard dimmed.
Odin turned away, walking toward the mirror-pool once more. The reflection of the golden thread shimmered faintly upon its surface.
"You have set something in motion that cannot be undone," he murmured. "Do you even know what you've awakened?"
Taufik's eyes glowed faintly with the same golden light that now pulsed through the roots of Yggdrasil.
He lifted both hands; creation and destruction stirred there like two restless creatures dancing on his palms.
"I know," he said. "But Odin... I didn't come to argue. I came to finish what I began: I will give Thor back his divinity, and you will tell me how to reach my home." He paused, and the smile that touched his lips was not kind. "But if you expect me to stop there, think twice, Odin"
His tone hardened. "On my journey I have already seen too much ruin. I can unmake as easily as I can make. You are fortunate, there is a Light Elf in Yggdrasil I know. If she had not been there, Asgard… no, the Nine Realms would be facing a Ragnarok far worse than any of you can imagine. And it would be because of you"
"Make your choice wisely, Odin," Taufik continued, voice low and absolute. "If we stop here, everyone leaves intact. But if you demand more... if you try to undo what I created or strike at the chance I gave humanity... say it now. Tell me what you will do, for I will not hesitate"
Odin stayed silent, his gaze fixed on the two opposing forces swirling in Taufik's hands.
Those were not things born of divine power nor the residue of cosmic law.
They were the Beginning and the End themselves.
A Primal Force of the Universe... Creation and Destruction.
Not power.
Not law.
Not concept.
Not even authority.
But Absolute.
Odin's breath left him slowly, the weight of millennia pressing against his chest. The throne room, once radiant and proud, felt suddenly small beneath the presence of that impossible equilibrium.
Even the runes engraved upon the golden walls dimmed, as though the very language of gods hesitated to exist before such forces.
"...You carry the seed of both birth and oblivion," Odin said at last, his voice quiet, almost reverent. "Not even the Primordials dared to touch both"
Taufik looked down at his hands. The two lights, one pure and serene, the other devouring and silent, twisted together like twin serpents circling eternity.
"I don't carry them,' he said, his tone faint, detached, as if speaking from somewhere far beyond the moment. "... They answer me"
Odin's single eye widened ever so slightly. "Then you are-"
Taufik interrupted, stopping him. "Names mean nothing to me now, Odin... And I'm still not there, not yet"
Silence followed. The words sank deep, heavier than thunder.
The light of Gungnir flickered, then steadied as Odin slowly straightened his stance.
"Then you are no longer a traveler seeking home," he said, his voice measured but heavy. "You are something beyond it"
Taufik met his gaze, a faint, weary smile curving his lips. "Perhaps. But even something beyond still longs for home"
The two forces in his palms unraveled, dissolving into threads of light and shadow before sinking back into his skin, as though returning to where they belonged.
Then, with a tone that carried both warning and mercy, Taufik said, "Do not make me prove what I can unmake, Odin. I came here to finish what must be done, nothing more"
Odin said nothing. Yet in that silence, the divine halls of Asgard trembled.
Even distant gods felt the pulse of unease ripple through the golden realm, as though the Nine Realms themselves were holding their breath.
Finally, Odin exhaled and lowered Gungnir, its light dimming.
"...Very well," he said quietly. "What has happened will stand. But know this... I will watch. For what you have set in motion will not touch Midgard alone. It will echo through all the Realms that exist"
Taufik inclined his head slightly, his expression unreadable.
"I know," he replied. "And unlike someone who takes back what he's given, I'm not that shameless"
The sarcasm was unmistakable, sharp enough to cut through the heavy air. Odin heard it, but said nothing, there was nothing he could.
"…Follow me," he said at last, turning away.
And as Taufik followed the Allfather through the golden halls of Asgard, silence reigned, a silence so profound that even the crackle of divine lightning seemed hesitant to break it.
When they reached the chamber where Thor's body rested, Taufik stopped before him.
He lifted a hand. No incantation, no grand display, just a simple motion.
Light flared.
The sound of thunder rolled through Asgard once more as divine power surged back into Thor's form. The storm answered its master's call, roaring like a beast reborn.
Odin stood still, watching as his son's chest rose with life again, his divinity rekindled. For a fleeting moment, even the Allfather seemed unsure whether to thank or fear the being before him.
Taufik lowered his hand, his eyes calm. "There. I've kept my word. Now...it's your turn, Odin"
