CHAPTER 63: SYSDI 63: THE VALREPITE MANOR 2

Evan’s eyebrows furrowed a little bit. "May I ask why you can’t take this letter?"

"There is no stamp on it." Adrian replied simply.

There is no other explanation whatsoever. It was as if that is the reason why, it is as such and cannot be questioned.

Evan sighs a little. That just meant that from now on, he would need to appear formal every time he is going to send a letter to his parents. That’s unfortunate. Well, at least, he doesn’t have to use the Valrepite stamp.

"Can I borrow the stamp that you lend me before?" He asked instead.

The messenger lend him the stamp. Surely, he would be able to borrow it too, right?

Instead, Evan saw Adrian shake his head. "You have your own copy of the Valrepite stamp. Any letter being tasked to be sent by me always will have a stamp of the Valrepite from here before it leaves. It is custom."

"But you lend me the stamp before." Evan looks confused.

"That was because you did not own one before." Adrian explains. "Do you not have a Valrepite signet stamp on your desk?"

They are very strict here, he is now finding that out. There are rules and they stick to it really well. Evan has no clue nobles live like this. Then again, he knows it is for the safety of the Valrepite’s. Maybe it is their way of making sure that they don’t get spied on?

Evan follows Adrian’s gaze to his desk. Then, he lets out a sigh. "I do have it on the desk. Does it work the same way as the one you lend me before?"

Adrian nods his head.

"Well, okay. I will be back then. Do you want to come in while you wait?" Evan offers, opening the door further.

Evan walks towards the desk and took the stamp. Before he lifts it up, he saw movement behind him. And it was just Adrian, eyes wide as he shook his head.

"Best not get in, Young Master Evan. I might get in trouble." Adrian says.

That just made Evan scratched the back of his neck. He instead took the stamp and used the wax to seal it. It’s the same thing as he had done so before. But the wax he is now sending away now bore the Valrepite symbol, a fox in front of a giant tree embossed on the wax.

He walks back to Adrian and gave the sealed envelope. "Is there anything else I need to do?"

The messenger looked at the envelope to double check if things are in order. Seeing nothing else, Adrian shook his head. "This looks good now. I shall head off to send this. Good day to you, Young Master Evan."

"Just call me-"

Before he can get his point across, Adrian is on his merry way away.

Evan blinked his eyes. How are people here moving or walking away faster when they were confronted by him to change what to call him?

He closed the door and sighs. At least he was able to finish sending a letter. What to do now?

’Ooooh~ Evan’s all fancy now~’ Came Iva’s sing song tone voice.

Evan is now realizing that Iva is only using this tone when it is teasing him over something.

"I am not fancy." Evan replied, going towards his desk to sort out the things he had out out. "I just happen to live in this fancy place because I agreed to watch out for Spire."

’And from how everyone you have seen so far, they are treating you like you have been adopted to the family.’ Iva added, setting its point.

"Dad used to say that there are some nobles that do some weird things. Maybe this is just normal for them." Evan argued.

He made his way towards the bed and sat at the edge of it. His eyes widened at the realization that it was soft. It was nothing like the wooden bed that he had, with only a fabric on top that acted as both a cover and a foam for the bed.

Evan pats the bed even more, the cushion felt great in his hand. "I think they are just treating me as a guest."

’Your gut feeling is feeling something. You and I both know that’s not what you really think~’

He lays down on the bed, his upper body down on the soft foam while his legs dangle on the edge. "Not something I should care about. What I need to find out, is if I can still visit the stone hill cave from here and also get back without anyone realizing anything is amiss."

Evan knew that he has a fast travel that he can access on the map tab. But that is for his childhood home and the stone hill cave. However, traveling here to Xertle City from there will take hours and that is with the car he had just rode.

He hoped he gained a fast travel option here too. That would make things a lot faster and he can finish a side quest deadline too.

"Status." Evan says, the panel showing up as soon as he did. "Map tab."

Just as Evan had expected, there is no way he can have access to a fast travel to this place. He sat back up so he can remove and place his slippers properly on the ground.

"Iva, do you know how to get more fast travel locations?" He asked. Evan moved up to lay down properly on the bed, head on the pillow.

Iva didn’t give him an answer so Evan immediately assumed it didn’t have any ideas.

Once he is comfortable on the bed, he closed his eyes briefly, planning to take a short nap before he is called down for dinner. Then, he heard a familiar sound.
