CHAPTER 163: CHAPTER 36: THE TREASURE GIRL HERSELF, SENIOR’S TWIN TAILS
At two in the afternoon, everyone left Cyan Peace Mountain.
Xu Lin also bid farewell to Rong Xiyi and her friend.
Afterwards, Xu Lin took Ning Yuhuan for a meal.
Lately, meals with Ning Yuhuan had been on the cheaper side, so Xu Lin took them back to the city in the afternoon for a nice meal.
It wasn’t very expensive, the two of them spent four or five hundred. In a place like Jiangdu, wanting to eat something pricier, a thousand wouldn’t even cut it, like in a slightly nicer western restaurant, a 200-gram steak can cost several hundred, not to mention those even more expensive.
After eating and drinking to their fill, it was already past four in the afternoon.
"Senior sister, do you want to go somewhere else to play?"
Xu Lin wrapped his arm around the senior sister’s shoulder.
"No more."
Ning Yuhuan shook her head, she wasn’t really into playing around.
Xu Lin thought they were heading back.
Unexpectedly, Ning Yuhuan suddenly said naughtily, "Honey, shall we get a room?"
"Get a room?"
Xu Lin was quite interested; truth be told, for an eighteen-year-old with great physical stamina, Xu Lin hadn’t had enough fun last night. He didn’t expect Ning Yuhuan to suggest getting a room, this was the first time.
Ning Yuhuan was very shy.
She lowered her head, gazing off to the side, her eyes darting around.
"My relative is quite punctual, probably visiting tomorrow," she said softly.
"What relative?"
Xu Lin asked knowingly.
Ning Yuhuan glared at Xu Lin, "If we’re not getting a room, then let’s just go back!"
Xu Lin burst into laughter, wrapping his arm around her waist, "Then let’s get a room!"
"I want to rest; I’m a bit tired today."
"Alright, let’s find a place to rest."
"Don’t get one that’s too expensive," Ning Yuhuan said.
But Xu Lin thought otherwise; he decided tonight to splurge on a nice place and enjoy himself.
So, spending over eighteen hundred, Xu Lin booked a rather luxurious room. Entering, there was a transparent large bathroom on the left, with a big bathtub inside for two people to soak in.
Ning Yuhuan thought nearly two thousand for a night was too extravagant.
She didn’t even ask her family for living expenses anymore; two thousand could last her over two months if she didn’t eat out, but Xu Lin spent that much in one night.
"This place is too expensive."
Ning Yuhuan mentioned again; earlier when booking the room, she had already suggested Xu Lin choose another place, but he insisted on staying here, even getting a membership card, putting in five thousand, which Ning Yuhuan couldn’t dissuade him from.
"Expensive things have their reasons!"
Xu Lin glanced at the ceiling, surprisingly made out of glass, acting as a mirror, allowing them to look up while in bed tonight.
Xu Lin had a bit of a mischievous streak.
A while later, Xu Lin comfortably sat on the bed, leaning against the headboard.
As usual, Xu Lin patted his thigh, usually Ning Yuhuan would come over willingly.
But Ning Yuhuan didn’t move; she just sat by the bed and said, "No more booking such expensive rooms in the future. Your parents work hard for money; you can’t just treat it like it’s nothing."
Ning Yuhuan knew about Xu Lin’s financial situation; his mom was a lawyer in the provincial capital, his family wasn’t lacking, but Ning Yuhuan thought money shouldn’t be spent so recklessly since earning it wasn’t easy.
Xu Lin didn’t speak immediately, but shifted his body, wrapping his arm around Ning Yuhuan’s waist, and pulled her over.
"Xu Lin!"
Xu Lin then opened the writer’s app on his phone and accessed the royalty dashboard.
"I’ll receive my royalties on Monday, the day after tomorrow. This money I earned myself, see how much it is?"
"What is this?"
Ning Yuhuan was curious, Xu Lin showed her the phone.
"I wrote a book, and this is my royalty."
"Over seven hundred thousand?"
Ning Yuhuan was shocked; over seven hundred thousand was an astronomical figure for her.
"Still have to pay taxes, so in hand it’s over six hundred thousand. So this is money I earned myself, feeling more secure spending it this way?"
"Amazing!"
Ning Yuhuan was amazed; however, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of inferiority, feeling Xu Lin was exceptionally outstanding and that she didn’t match up to him.
Ning Yuhuan came from a rural background; her family used to farm a few acres of rice fields until she was in high school. Her childhood home was a tile-roofed house, shared with her uncle’s family, until 2013, when the houses were demolished, and both families built their own houses.
Given her family’s financial situation, she was always frugal.
Now, seeing Xu Lin’s six-figure earnings in the dashboard left Ning Yuhuan unsettled.
For a normal person, upon suddenly realizing their partner is much more accomplished than imagined, the first reaction is admiration, followed by a feeling of self-doubt.
Ning Yuhuan wasn’t a materialistic girl; had she been, she would have been swept off her feet by a rich second-generation heir early in her college life.
But she wasn’t.
She even took part-time jobs earning dozens of yuan a day, slowly accumulating her savings, never dreaming of sudden wealth or luxurious life.
If she were materialistic, she might have expected Xu Lin to buy her various things at this moment.
But she wasn’t.
"Aren’t I amazing?"
Xu Lin embraced Ning Yuhuan from behind, kissing her neck.
Ning Yuhuan exuded a pleasant scent, one that intoxicated him.
Usually, Ning Yuhuan would be bashful, but now, she seemed a little blue.
Xu Lin noticed this.
"Senior sister, what’s wrong?"
"Just feeling you’re amazing, and I’m just ordinary..."
