Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might
Chapter 391: 385 Tunaras
Chapter 391: Chapter 385 Tunaras
When the Githyanki broke free from the Lllithid, Vilakis led them to a six-armed god corpse floating in the Astral Plane.
This corpse had transformed into a giant rock, its lower half destroyed in ancient times, and from the lower part of the body extended massive floating stones larger than castles. Tunaras City is completely built on the upper half of the corpse, with the central area located at the chest, while the subsidiary regions extend outward along the six arms and the head.
Even Leon, who was quite knowledgeable now, was momentarily shocked by Tunaras… to be precise, shocked by the six-armed god corpse.
Not thinking much, Leon swooped down onto the shoulder of the six-armed god corpse, and as he landed, he immediately saw a Githyanki patrol boat. Five Githyanki martial artists wielding huge swords jumped off the patrol boat and surrounded him.
“What do you want to do?” Leon spoke amiably; otherwise, had it been a fierce and arrogant Red Dragon here, it would likely have already been a fight.
“What is your purpose for intruding into Tunaras?” asked the Mohawk-headed captain. “Surrender immediately.”
Githyanki are equally arrogant, ten out of ten have a bad temper. In some games, the foul-mouthed Githyanki are considered the best-tempered among them. Without waiting for Leon to speak, they raised their massive swords and slashed at him, intending to subdue first, then talk.
Leon relied on Transformation Skill to take human form; he’s not human, but a humanoid giant dragon, retaining significant attributes. At this moment, he casually deflected the giant sword and slapped the Mohawk-headed captain in the face. With a glance, he noticed other Githyanki martial artists rushing toward him, and he swung his tail to send them all flying.
The Mohawk-headed captain got up from the ground, covering his swollen face, looking at Leon, unable to understand how a human suddenly grew a tail, formidable to an amazing degree. Nonetheless, he called for reinforcements, cautiously watching Leon, saying, “You can’t escape… Here they come, reinforcements are here.”
Just after calling for support, the reinforcements came rushing in—is their support speed really that fast? Leon, along with the Githyanki martial artists, turned and saw a Githyanki in Mithril armor, followed by two Githyanki, flying over, appearing somewhat familiar.
“Captain Caslak, it’s Captain Caslak!” the Mohawk-headed captain viciously stared at Leon. “Captain Caslak is here; aren’t you going to kneel swiftly for a quick end?”
“Captain Duens, that’s the intruder in Tunaras,” the female Githyanki martial artist pointed at Leon. “He also injured so many of us.”
Duens widened his eyes slightly upon seeing Leon’s face, then his eyes gradually enlarged; distant memories surfaced. He slapped the female Githyanki martial artist hard, not any lighter than Leon’s, and said, “Blind eyes, failing to recognize the Dragon King.”
Why does this scene feel so familiar?
Fearing Duens might suddenly say “Welcome the Dragon King back,” Leon hurriedly said, “I’m no Dragon King, that title from before suffices… It’s good you’re here—explain to them I’m not an enemy, I’m your friend, ally.”
Duens cared not, thinking those Githyanki martial artists were absolutely diligent—they’re guilty if they offend such a mighty figure, one who could blow away a Fire Giant army and decapitate a Flame Divine Successor with a single sword—coldly stating, “Kill them all.”
“You’re done; you’re dead,” said the female Githyanki martial artist, suddenly finding herself disarmed, “Wait, aren’t you mistaken?”
Leon still held his temper, saying, “It’s not that extreme; they’re just doing their job—let’s not resort to violence.”
“They indeed fail to recognize Lord Leon, which is wrong. But since Lord Leon said so… you’ll go to Glaske for punishment,” Duens said. “Hurry and thank Lord Leon.”
Leon heard from Salovis about Glaske; it’s a district in Tunaras belonging to the Githyanki’s labor reform camp. As far as the eye could see, it is muddy lands; once Githyanki break the laws, they’re sent there to receive punishment, usually non-lethal and rarely physical, needing no further persuasion.
Waving those endlessly grateful Githyanki martial artists away, Leon truly didn’t expect to become the protagonist of such a classic scene, feeling somewhat nuanced, saying, “Normally Githyanki Knights should come, why did you personally come?”
“This is a military district,” Duens explained. “I just happened to be here.”
“How come Lord Leon is here?” Duens continued, “Your sister should be in the Dragon Cave.”
“I’m not here to see her, just passing through the Astral Plane and deciding to check it out; as a Red Dragon, having never been to Tunaras feels inadequate,” Leon said. “Don’t mind me, I’ll just wander around myself… Rest assured, Salovis told me not to roam the Queen’s district.”
Salovis mentioned not to wander into the Queen’s district where the Whisper Palace is located; didn’t they inform you needing an invitation to enter Tunaras? That too—why would a mighty Red Dragon care about such trivial matters? Duens hesitated and then spoke: “Since you’re new here, I’ll have someone accompany you on a tour.”
“No need,” Leon said. “I wish to wander alone.”
“Then, Lord Leon, take this,” Duens provided Leon with a token, “As long as you have this, no one with blind eyes will disturb you.”
Leon didn’t mind whether Duens would immediately inform Vilakis about his visit to Tunaras; he left with the token, observing Tunaras’s chaotic streets, filled with diverse buildings transported from different planes lining both sides.
Many Githyanki raiders have a unique obsession with architecture; they requisition buildings from the Material Plane or elsewhere and place them in Tunaras.
Githyanki never sell goods to visitors or buy from them—anything they want, they take directly. Consequently, Tunaras has no regular market, but some irregular ones.
Leon unintentionally wandered to such a market, suddenly hearing a call.
“Honorable guest, would like to see some goods?”
Following the direction of the voice, Leon saw a short, chubby figure with the top half wrapped in a red scarf—a penguin hiding in an alley, waving at him.
Leon had brushed up on some Astral Plane knowledge and quickly recognized the creature—it was a Dovar Penguin person. Looking and acting much like penguins, they’re inherently traders, always seeking the next business opportunity.
The Dovar Penguin people’s syndicate is called the Monopoly Alliance; their dealings are always conducted in secret, preferring black street alleys and remote corners, even if the goods are neither illegal nor dangerous.
Leon disliked penguins and said bluntly, “Silly penguin, scram.”
As Leon chased away the Dovar Penguin person, Duens entered the Queen district, traversing a path under a Gith statue into the labyrinth of the Whisper Palace.
Vilakis’s main hall is a magnificent chamber supported by Obsidian Pillars, located in the center of the labyrinth. Flanked by two Red Dragon guards, Vilakis sat upon her throne, receiving audiences.
