Chapter 499: Chapter 491: A Minor Episode
Tassera had just returned to her seat at the desk when Leon reached the distant north.
That land was composed of rolling mountains, icebergs emitting a ghostly blue glow, deep and winding fjords, and vast stretches of barren rock.
Due to someone secretly obscuring the heavenly secrets, Leon was only able to deduce that the problem was in the north while in the Zhen Dan Kingdom. Once Leon truly set foot in the northern lands, it was not easy to obscure his “spy.” With a single glance, he could pinpoint the problem using his remarkable skills.
An ancient and mysterious castle stood proudly on the Frozen Soil Wilderness, protected by layers of magic and complex maze locks, making it impossible for even a fly to pass through.
Leon did not deliberately hide his tracks; otherwise, he could conceal himself within heaven and earth, unseen and untraceable, existing in the world but invisible. Thus, as soon as he approached the castle, someone noticed him.
“Who are you?” An Elf Ranger appeared in front of Leon, eyes alert.
Behind the Elf Ranger emerged a lavishly dressed High Elf Mage, holding a Magic Wand, with his chin slightly raised. Two other elves followed, indistinguishable by dress but each with at least Legendary Level power, capable of descending to Aphnas to decapitate Zarriel with ease.
Leon remained calm, slightly raising his finger and pointing at the castle, asked, “Are you preparing the Dragon Madness Lock?”
“That’s about right.” Leon said, lightly moving his neck with a “crackling” sound, his figure shook as he reverted to Dragon Form. He believed this form was most convincing, “The tragedy that occurred in Ferren should not happen in this world.”
“I will not allow it.” Leon’s voice was deep and powerful, carrying endless authority.
“Dragon God Leon?”
As the Elf Ranger spoke, beams of brilliant light suddenly descended from the sky, landing on each of the elves. Their appearance seemed unchanged, yet their essence was fundamentally altered, infused with massive divine power and occupied by deities standing behind them.
“The traitor revealed himself.” Leon smiled slightly.
“Who do you call a traitor?” The Elf Ranger questioned, seemingly more imposing than Leon.
“Of course you all.” Leon looked at the lead Elf Ranger, saw him wearing a cloak of lively leaves, holding an Elf Longbow, and carrying an Endless Arrow Quiver, capable of supplying any type of arrow, whether Hunting Arrow, Bundled Arrow, Silver Arrow, or Cold Iron Arrow, even Slaughter Arrow specifically for killing certain creatures, “Are you Solonore?”
Solonor Shanrandri, the god of hunting, archery, survival in wilderness and harsh places for elves, possessed unmatched prowess in archery, revered in various realms by other divine powers.
He maintained the integrity of nature, always pursuing prey but rarely staying in one place for long. Unlike many Hunters, he often pursued prey out of concern for the balance between species and the elimination of wrongdoers.
“You really took care of me in Danalan.” Leon said, still quite resentful, since acquiring the Vajra Body he rarely got injured, yet the arrow with Solonor’s divine power shot by the Elf General Eran truly caused him much trouble.
Solonor’s face remained stern, coldly saying, “Shame I didn’t kill you then. If I had ended you, the people of Danalan wouldn’t have had to endure endless suffering, forced from their homes.”
“I allowed them to leave with their property, that’s already generous.” Leon bared his sharp fangs, “You’re unaware of gratitude, and still want to deal with me, truly audacious.”
“Shameless.” Solonor glared angrily, loudly rebuking, “You seized Danalan, and still have the audacity to say such shameless things.”
Leon was indifferent to Solonor’s scolding, a meaningful smile on his lips, turned to another elf, saying, “You’re Mistreon Sellet, aren’t you? The god of maze locks for elves, the originator of the Dragon Madness Lock.”
The Dragon Madness Lock, directly causing dragons to fall from rulers of Ferren to mere roadside creatures, would be foolish to believe ordinary elves crafted it.
There must be elven deities behind the Dragon Madness Lock, Mistreon, as the elven god of maze locks, surely participated, not distancing himself from the matter.
“…”
Due to aiding elves in creating maze locks causing divine power to deplete, attempting to regain glory by making the Divine Artifact Mistreon’s Ring, but during completion was attacked by enemies, resulting in a radical change in personality, becoming gloomy and withdrawn, Mistreon said nothing.
Leon’s gaze moved away from Mistreon, scanning the remaining two elves.
One was Taslin Valadi, the Sword Singer of elves, with divine position in swordsmanship and war.
Another was a handsome Sea Elf surprising Leon, unexpectedly Deep Sea·Sesira, the elven god of oceans, voyages, and knowledge, particularly favored by Sea Elves, dolphins, and elven sages.
“Red Dragon, it’s no longer your era.” Solonor slightly tilted his head, expression stern, eyes showing unwavering determination, “Don’t dream of reviving the Dragon Era.”
“What are you talking about?” Leon focused nowadays on refining the Hongmeng Purple Qi, aside from spending time with his wife and children, “Did you misunderstand something? I have never thought of reviving the Dragon Era.”
“Your existence is like a high-flying banner.” Solonor said, “Dragons will continuously gather towards you, this is an unchangeable reality. You may not want to do it now, doesn’t mean you won’t in the future, precaution is necessary.”
“By your words, I can only die?” Leon revealed a playful smile.
“You can leave the Material Plane with your spouse and children.” Solonor said earnestly, “As long as you leave the Material Plane, you can go anywhere, it’s up to you.”
“As long as we leave, you will stop the Dragon Madness Lock?” Leon retorted.
Solonore pondered slightly and slowly spoke, “We can consider it. As long as you giant dragons behave, we don’t want to make things difficult for you.”
“What if I refuse?” Leon looked at the four Elf Gods vaguely surrounding him, “Will you kill me and then activate the Dragon Madness Lock? Ha, this is the Material Plane, not the Wilderness of Freedom, nor the Bliss Realm; your Divine Country isn’t here. Don’t you know, I defeated the Ocean Goddess?”
“We are well aware that you defeated the Ocean Goddess. We won’t underestimate you like those foolish, arrogant beings, thinking you won by luck. On the contrary, we take you very seriously,” Solonore said earnestly. “We’ve been meticulously preparing for a long time to deal with you, gathering a lot of intelligence and mobilizing a lot of power.”
“We have thoroughly studied all the battles you’ve participated in,” Solonore took a step forward, “including that earth-shattering battle with the Ocean Goddess.”
“You are indeed very capable in combat, that’s undeniable. But your rise to fame has been too short, without solid foundation and accumulation. However, to compensate, you are very good at escaping, and your recovery speed is rapid,” Solonore said. “So, to defeat you, one must not only be stronger but also defeat you thoroughly in one go, without giving you even the slightest chance to breathe.”
“Today,” Solonore took a deep breath, his gaze becoming even more fierce, “whether you have just become a god or even if Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, and Tiamat, the Evil Dragon Queen, were here, they would have to fall.”
“What if Bahamut and Tiamat joined as well?” Leon slowly raised his right hand, and with a grasp in the air, a shining Platinum Scale and a red Dragon Scale emitting a scorching aura appeared in his palm. He could use these scales at any moment to call for Bahamut and Tiamat’s assistance.
Solonore’s smile disappeared.
“Actually, I don’t need to contact them.” Leon flipped his wrist and put away the two scales with a suave and fluid motion, looking directly at Solonore, “Because just you few are far from being my opponents… bringing out Corellon might be better.”
Corellon Larethian, the leader of the Elf Pantheon, the progenitor of the entire elf race, the creator, protector, primal of the Gods of Sidarien, protector and preserver of life, ruler of all elves, Crowned King Avando, an absolutely powerful god.
“Stop talking nonsense here.”
“Are you done speaking? If so, prepare to die.” Solonore reached into the Endless Arrow Quiver and took out a Red Dragon Slaughter Arrow. Just as he was about to notch the arrow and shoot, he suddenly widened his eyes in shock, realizing the red dragon had disappeared, “Gone?”
“Where did he run off to?” Solonore looked around in disbelief, finding it hard to imagine the red dragon could escape right under his nose. They had meticulously prepared for today, ensuring everything was foolproof.
At this moment, Sesira widened his eyes in fear, his face turning pale, lips trembling slightly, saying, “The sky, the sky! Look at the sky!”
Hearing this, Solonore hurriedly lifted his head, casting his gaze towards the sky, and stood still in shock.
The red dragon appeared in the sky… to be precise, a massive red dragon slowly stood up, occupying the entire sky. The entire sky could barely accommodate the red dragon’s upper body. That one red dragon was much larger than the sky, probably as large as the entire planet beneath them.
Is this that red dragon’s new move?
In just a few decades, has he become stronger?
Can’t understand.
What has he been doing these past years?
Solonore was still in shock and noticed the red dragon was making a move.
Solonore, holding his bow and arrow, watched as the red dragon flapped its wings, lifted its gigantic claw, drew out a Divine Sword, and, gripping the hilt with both claws, slowly stabbed down from the sky, piercing through the atmosphere…
Solonore was horrified to find that he couldn’t release the bow and arrow in his hands, and his feet seemed nailed to the ground, unable to move.
He turned his head with difficulty, looked at Mistreon, Taslin, and Sesira beside him, and found their expressions to be exactly like his own. They exchanged glances and nodded in unison.
Solonore gritted his teeth and exerted all his might to shoot the arrow in his hand.
At the same time, Mistreon waved his hand, and a vaguely visible transparent hemispherical shield appeared in the air, for he was a protector and also a guardian of the Maze Lock.
Sesira had two weapons, a longsword called Dolphin’s Tooth and the Deep Sea Trident.
Finally, there was Sesira, wielding both sword and magic.
However, whether it was arrow or magic, they appeared insignificant before that Divine Sword, like mere scratches. The hemispherical shield shattered instantly under the stabbing of the Divine Sword, as fragile as a bubble.
The Divine Sword slowly and powerfully struck the ground.
With a thunderous crash, the earth shook violently as if the entire world was collapsing at that moment.
And so, everything ended.
This wasn’t a great war, but a small interlude.
