Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might
Chapter 99 - 99 99 They Can't Do It
99: Chapter 99 They Can’t Do It 99: Chapter 99 They Can’t Do It Leon looked triumphant.
Leon was full of pride.
Leon’s expression turned sour.
The world is so unpredictable, things change so swiftly.
No sooner had he begun to feel happy than Leon discovered a serious issue related to the Sleeve of the Universe.
He felt that the juvenile Magma Land Shark was causing havoc in the small space inside his Sleeve of the Universe; if it moved a bit more violently, it might tear open a spatial rift and escape from the small space.
There was no doubt, his small space could indeed hold living creatures, not just objects, but it wasn’t without conditions.
If the captured enemy still had mobility and could inflict damage beyond the small space’s capacity, it could escape, which shows capturing living creatures wasn’t as easy as imagined.
Leon found the juvenile Magma Land Shark swallowing the gold coins he placed in the small space, he didn’t mind much, but quickly saw it eyeing his Whisper Tree Bark.
In a hurry, he waved his hand and released the juvenile Magma Land Shark.
“You little troublemaker!
Eating my precious gold coins is one thing, but setting your sights on my Whisper Tree Bark?” Leon raised his claw and thumped the juvenile Magma Land Shark’s head heavily, “Since you’re being so naughty, I guess I have no choice.”
Leon wanted to take the juvenile Magma Land Shark back as a guard dog, obviously, he couldn’t hurt it beyond recovery.
His choice was to pat the juvenile Magma Land Shark’s head forcefully then lift and smash it to the ground…
He had thought about using the newly learned Hand Palm Bomb, but feared the juvenile Magma Land Shark couldn’t withstand such high damage.
Leon, naturally, was also keen on looks.
Who dares to say they aren’t superficial?
If the juvenile Magma Land Shark looked a bit more adorable, fluffy like a panda, Leon probably wouldn’t hit it that hard.
However, since the Magma Land Shark was really ugly, he felt absolutely no psychological pressure and quickly had the juvenile Magma Land Shark disheveled and in disarray.
This goes to show, knowing spells is useless, you must know how to apply them cleverly.
Leon had just remembered the Object Capture Skill he learned after forming an alliance with Tassera; it could perfectly coordinate with the Sleeve of the Universe, allowing him to capture any person or thing into his small space from afar.
Leon tried it out, pointing at the immobile, breathless juvenile Magma Land Shark, activated the Object Capture Skill, lifting it and then through a spatial rift into the small space.
A successful attempt made Leon quite excited.
This time, the juvenile Magma Land Shark became obedient, no longer causing trouble in the small space of Leon’s Sleeve of the Universe, giving Leon a chance to search for refined gold ore in the Molten Lava Lake…
regardless of refined gold ore or anything else, if he felt something was valuable, he wouldn’t miss any.
The Molten Lava Lake was certainly not small, as it could accommodate a Magma Land Shark was indication enough, but to call it large wouldn’t be quite right either, its size roughly comparable to a “four-bedroom, two-living room” for a Magma Land Shark.
Leon in Dragon Form was just a bit smaller, and it didn’t take much effort to circle the entire Molten Lava Lake.
Leon learned for the first time that Molten Lava Lake could be so deep; without the ability to breathe underwater, he dared not venture too deep.
In less than an hour, Leon was finished.
Back at the shore, Leon checked his haul; the suspected refined gold ores, including two pieces extracted from the belly of the Magma Land Shark, totaled more than ten pieces.
Not enough to forge a greatsword completely made of refined gold, but surely sufficient to coat one.
In addition, there were some other unidentified ores and gemstones.
Leon saw Evil Wolf and recalled Sleeve of the Universe, thinking of experimenting with him again.
Evil Wolf noticed he was being watched again by the Red Dragon and didn’t dare breathe.
“What do you think I found in the Molten Lava Lake?” Leon asked.
“No, I don’t know,” Evil Wolf shook his head.
“You’ll see.” Leon waved his hand, and a juvenile Magma Land Shark appeared out of thin air.
“This, this is a juvenile Magma Land Shark?” Evil Wolf was terrified, “It’s still alive?”
“Of course, it’s alive.
I couldn’t bear to kill it.
I plan to take it back as a pet, to guard my home in the future,” Leon said with a smile, “Guess where I hid this little Magma Land Shark to bring it here?”
Evil Wolf pondered momentarily, knowing it couldn’t be the Dimension Bag as Dimension Bags are prone to tearing if the living creatures inside struggle.
“Don’t resist, it won’t hurt, it won’t be a problem, it will be over in a moment,” Leon said, and as he reached the end of his patience, he extended his claw towards Evil Wolf and put him into the small space of the Sleeve of the Universe, then slightly frowned.
Leon did indeed feel the pressure; obviously, capturing the juvenile Magma Land Shark hadn’t exerted such pressure.
After some thought and nodding as if he lost something, Leon could now confirm another issue.
There were limits to using the small space of the Sleeve of the Universe for capturing people or objects; it came down to an energy limit.
Simply put, weaklings could be captured easily, but strong individuals with immense energy might burst the small space, meaning he couldn’t surprise attack by capturing a horde of Legendary Strongmen, at most a squad of Salamanders.
This principle also applied to Dimension Bags, typically those with immense energy like Divine Artifacts, despite their small size, could not be placed in Dimension Bags and had to be carried personally or else kept in a treasury…
Otherwise, if everyone put their treasures in Dimension Bags, there would be no need for treasuries in the world.
Finally recalling Evil Wolf, Leon waved his hand and released him, asking, “Was it fun?”
Gasping for air, Evil Wolf remained silent.
“How does it feel?” Leon asked again.
“It’s so dark and uncomfortable.” Evil Wolf looked terrified, “I feel dizzy.”
Hearing Evil Wolf’s description, Leon roughly understood what it was like inside the small space.
“You have worked hard,” Leon said with concern, as caring words cost nothing.
“It wasn’t hard,” Evil Wolf quickly replied, his experience was limited and he hadn’t met many capitalists before, not realizing that capitalists only offer emotional value, he felt somewhat touched at this moment.
Regardless, having acquired so many things from the Molten Lava Lake, the expedition to the Dark Territory was considered a complete success, and Leon and Evil Wolf returned the way they had come.
The return journey was much easier compared to the trip there; it took them less than half a day to get back to Crossroads City.
Leon gave a few instructions to Evil Wolf, telling him to head to his territory in the desert after finishing his business—if Evil Wolf did not wish to go, it did not matter to Leon as a forced fruit isn’t sweet—and turned to go to the Mage District.
In the Mage Tower, Leon placed the box containing the Whispering Tree Flower in front of the Female Dwarf Mage and said, “This is what you wanted, we are even now.”
Betty snapped her fingers, and the windows of the Mage Tower immediately closed, then a dim magical light lit up around, carefully opening the box, but closing it immediately after a quick glance, she said, “These Whispering Tree Flowers are excellent, I’m very satisfied, it has been a pleasure doing business.”
Leon was actually very satisfied with this trip to the Dark Territory as well, but he couldn’t help asking, “Did you know beforehand about the Magma Land Shark in that Molten Lava Lake?”
“I trusted that you could handle the Magma Land Shark since Tassera is a Blue Dragon, a Storage Dragon, and she told me you were strong,” said Betty, hugging the box with the Whispering Tree Flowers and humming, lifting her nose up, “Alright, I have research to do, talk later.”
The Female Dwarf Mage quickly ran off, Leon had reason to suspect she was embarrassed to run away.
“How was your haul?” Tassera asked.
Leon raised his eyebrows and replied, “Quite nice.”
“How so?” Tassera found a stool to sit on, gracefully crossing her legs.
“I found several pieces of Whisper Tree Bark, a bunch of refined gold ore… and this.” Leon once again summoned the young Magma Land Shark, just to boast, “I plan to keep it as a pet.”
“Magma Land Shark?” Tassera, being a dragon rather than a human, didn’t mind raising a monster, her only concern was, “Can it be tamed?”
“It shouldn’t be a problem,” Leon had already decided to be a hands-off owner, “Anyway, I’ll leave it to the Efreeti…
if it can be tamed, good, if not, kill it.”
Tassera nodded noncommittally.
“What’s next then?” Tassera suddenly asked, “Now that you have the refined gold, will you continue to seek Mithril, or have other plans?
I should be back in a while…
Recently, do you want to watch the circus or perhaps the arena is preparing to open?”
“No, I plan to head back first,” Leon shook his head; he was eager to get his freshly collected Whisper Tree Bark and refined gold crafted into a new weapon by the Salamanders, and he couldn’t keep the young Magma Land Shark in the Sleeve of the Universe’s small space forever.
“Then off you go,” Tassera said, “You’re always in such a hurry.”
Leon shook his head gently; he felt he had been very laid-back, but little did he know, in the eyes of other dragons, he was still impatient.
It’s just that normal dragons have a lot of time and except for emergencies, most of them are lazy and never cherish every minute and second.
In any case, without delay, Leon left Crossroads City, transformed back into his Dragon Form after getting clear of the city, and quickly flew from Crossroads City back to his Dome Castle by the Desert Molten Lava Lake, fetched the Efreeti, and first released the young Magma Land Shark.
“I’ll leave this little Magma Land Shark to you,” Leon said as if it was only natural, “You’re so good at enforcing slave labor, you must be good at training dogs as well.”
“Where did you catch this creature, sire?” the Efreeti stared at the young Magma Land Shark, his expression full of anticipation, since normally he would not be able to defeat a Magma Land Shark and capturing a young one to train was an exciting prospect, “I’ll give it a try.”
“There’s one more thing,” Leon continued, taking out the materials he had gathered from the Dark Territory, “Tell those Salamanders to help me forge a sword.”
The Efreeti looked at the materials Leon had taken out, hesitated to speak.
“Is there a problem?” Leon asked.
“Such fine materials, giving them to those Salamanders for forging is simply a waste,” the Efreeti didn’t have a high regard for those Salamanders, “Those fools are fine for forging ordinary weapons, but not for forging Divine weapons.”
“Can you summon a Fire Dwarf from the Flame Plane?” Leon thought of the Fire Dwarves, who the Salamanders hated, reputed to be unmatched master craftsmen, usually summoned to the Main Material Plane to assist in crafting intricate Magic Items or art pieces.
“Those little guys won’t work either,” said the Efreeti, shaking his head.
“Speak plainly,” Leon eyed the Efreeti.
“Fire Giant,” the Efreeti said, “If you want to forge a greatsword, if you want to forge a Divine weapon, of course, you must find a Fire Giant.”
Leon tugged at the corner of his mouth; all he wanted was to forge a sword mixed with refined gold, was all this fuss necessary?
If there isn’t a real Divine weapon in the end, that couldn’t satisfy me, I might just flip the table.
