Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas
Chapter 154: Unspoken words
CHAPTER 154: UNSPOKEN WORDS
Andria’s POV
"Is Becca chained?" I burst out before I could hold myself. That was what she actually came to report.
"Answer me," Sir Kaelric barked. A flicker of fear crossed Liara’s eyes as she matched Sir Kaelric’s eyes.
"She had seen us take Allison to that room, and I didn’t want the news to slip out, so I had to go after her," Liara replied with a calm voice.
"Well, both you and Jackson will be arraigned before the school’s council for this act. Aria and Aven, I think you can return to the event or your dormitories.
I hesitated for a moment before asking, "What about Becca? Is she free?"
"Yes, I managed to get her out of the chains before coming here," Sir Kaelric replied.
Aven and I walked out of the room and out of that space. Sir Kaelric followed behind. There was a slight tension between us all, followed by awkward silence.
"Thanks for sticking your head out for my sister tonight," Aven finally broke the silence. "You never told me you had a sorcerer as a friend and that she even works at the sick bay."
"We have never spoken long enough. Besides, there had been no reason for me to let out that piece of information," I replied to him.
Lady Eskareth wasn’t a sorcerer; she was a witch, but it was going to be hard to break it down to Aven that she was a witch, not a sorcerer.
It was hard to come by any witch; sorcerers were easier to find. Unlike the vampires and the demons, the witches weren’t underworld dwellers; they lived amongst wolves and were less harmful.
"I see, but I would love to thank her for helping my sister," Aven responded.
"She already knows that you are grateful; she doesn’t like that sort of unnecessary attention."
Then there was silence again between us. "Aria, I know we started on the wrong footing, but I’ve come to see you in a different light," Aven suddenly burst out.
I turned to look at him, and there was a lot of sincerity in his eyes. "Well, you were such a rude, arrogant and self-absorbed wolf. I couldn’t imagine that someone could come off that way."
We burst out laughing, and I turned my back to see if Sir Kaelric was still following us, but I noticed he wasn’t there anymore.
Which route must he have taken?. My heart sank, maybe from the thought that he was jealous. How was I supposed to handle all of them at once without making the other ones jealous?
I guess they have to talk to themselves about this. I can’t choose; it will break me to lose any of them.
"What are you thinking about?" Aven asked, snatching my waist with just one hand, so that my belly hit his body.
I got flustered all over, my heart hammering hard against my chest, as I stared into his eyes. His eyes were my weakness.
"You consummated the mate bond with Sir Kaelric. Does it mean that you choose him over me?" he asked, searching my eyes.
I didn’t know how to answer this question without causing an issue, so I had to hesitate before replying to him. "I didn’t choose him over you; I just felt something more profound with him, and it happened. Besides, you weren’t doing things right, and sometimes I couldn’t stand you or any of your friends."
"So that means that you chose him over me," he replied, shaking his head from side to side, and facing off a bit.
I took his face in my hands and turned it back to me, and I saw something vulnerable linger inside his eyes.
"Yes, for a moment I chose him, but that doesn’t mean I chose him over you. I didn’t want this dilemma, but the moon goddess had made it so. I can’t choose between any of you."
"Does it mean that you wouldn’t fight me like always if I decided to kiss you right away?" He asked to draw in for a kiss.
My face flushed as Athena, who had been worked up and angry all night because of the drama that had unfolded, became excited at once.
And in that moment, I recalled the first day I crossed paths with Aven: his cold shoulder and his rude reply to me.
How could he change so drastically, embodying this vulnerable, cute side? At that moment, I wanted him to kiss me; I wanted our lips to sync in harmony.
There was a long silence between us, but it wasn’t awkward; we just stared into each other’s eyes against the cold night.
The noise coming from the field where the event was happening was heightening the excitement between us, and I couldn’t help melting into him.
Our lips touched, and it sent waves and jolts of electricity right through me. We were doing this, I was kissing Aven, whom I once thought of rejecting as my mate.
"I can smell you," he murmured against my lips, causing me to shiver.
My mouth parted voluntarily, and his lips went in, his tongue danced with my tongue seeking dominance, and for once, I let him win.
The fireworks started going up, signaling the end of the event. I needed to head there, but it wasn’t necessary. I would call Mel and Macy to find out if they handled things well.
Aven suddenly stopped, but his hands never left my waist. He held me still.
"The event is over, and soon there will be a crowd coming towards this area. Maybe we should go back to our dorms."
The way he said it, it seemed as if he were suggesting something else to me. I could hear a silent plea in his words.
He knew I had to go, and yet he wanted me to stay. His hands were still wrapped around me like a blanket.
Silence and unspoken words hung in between us like never before, and in that moment, I felt my heart soften towards Aven. I couldn’t help falling for this side of Aven.
