Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas
Chapter 51: The Casino business
CHAPTER 51: THE CASINO BUSINESS
Zade’s POV
I got back to the duel hall to continue my paintings.
The quietness of the hall made it easier to hear conversations from students in the hallway.
"Tracy said that she would be contesting for a membership in the students’ council this year. She said she will be going for the seat of president," one student said.
"Aria also said she would be contesting for a seat on the student council, too," another student murmured.
Aria would be contesting for a post in the student council?. The words from their mouth kept re-echoing in my head. She strikes me as someone who loves challenges, so it didn’t surprise me.
"It is hard to be up against Tracy; Tracy always loves to win," another student added, her voice laced with discouragement.
"It’s hard, but she has the princess’s backing so that it won’t be so hard," the other voice who spoke at first consoled.
I could tell from their discussion that they wanted Aria to win the election, although they feared that Tracy was capable of changing the results in her favor.
Let’s hope we get a good election chairman.
Usually, the election chairman is not the student, so I hope that they don’t put a teacher under Tracy’s payroll.
I wouldn’t have bothered to participate in the forthcoming elections, but hearing that Aria was a candidate, I want her to win; therefore, she needs my vote and every other little vote.
It was already dusk, and I needed to rest, so I packed up my things and headed to my dorm.
Opening the door to my apartment, I was no longer shocked by the sight I beheld. It was a usual thing, Wayne and Lucas were sprawled on the floor, a bottle of liquor in Lucas’s hand and bottles of liquor around Wayne.
I tapped them up I wonder why they always skipped classes and instead drowned themselves in liquor. They were strange, talked like perverts and societal rejects and were too suspicious.
If they hardly attended classes, and they have been in this school for a while, how do they pass the exams?
Usually, students with low class attendance rates are expelled from the school, but they always manage to scale through.
They are a mystery to me, and I must uncover them.
They woke up in a very slurry manner,
"Oh, the jerk is..." Lucas said, looking at Wayne, but before the words could fully form in his mouth, I landed him a bow on it.
"I prefer you shut your drunken mouth up; the blow to your mouth was just to ensure it," I stooped down to his ear and whispered.
He winced in pain, looking up at me and then bit back the words he wanted to say.
Wayne just got up and staggered to where I stood, looked at me, pointing his fingers at me and then slumped on Lucas.
Well, birds of a feather flock together. "Get your drunk asses up, let’s clear this place," I howled at them.
"Can’t you see that we aren’t well enough to perform such a task?" Wayne protested.
"I’m not the one who put you in such condition, nor did anyone but yourselves," I stated firmly, dragging Lucas and Wayne from the chair.
They finally got up to tidy up and completed the task, staggering and bumping into themselves. I didn’t care so far, they made the living room clean.
I was tired of cleaning after them.
When they were done cleaning the living room, I stood up to head back to my room. I overheard Lucas from the Kitchen.
"I hated to lose to that motherfucker at the casino."
I crept to the kitchen to hear them properly. I suspected that they were gamblers, but I didn’t know that they were sore losers at it, too.
"You weren’t the only one who lost, I also lost to him, thinking I could recover what you lost," Wayne muttered from behind the counter.
There was a pause, followed by Lucas’s low growl. "We can’t let this slide, Wayne. He embarrassed us, stripped us of our winnings right in front of everyone. That’s not something I can just swallow."
"We can’t go fighting with them, they seem strange, like they have special powers not kin to wolves," Wayne slurred.
"They want to do business with us, though, after they found out we attended Ashwood," Wayne continued.
I wondered who the creatures they were talking about were and if they were connected to the recent attacks on Aria. I’ve been doing some research.
Lucas looked alarmed all of a sudden and then burst out laughing, before walking towards Wayne and holding him by the neck.
"What did you tell those creatures about us? They wouldn’t know we attended Ashwood if someone hasn’t been snitching, and you are the only one I know who attends Ashwood and goes to the casino.
"Free me, you drunk ass, I didn’t say anything about the academy to them, they just accosted me and demanded that we do business with them, knowing we do other shitty business too, it’s easy for them to track us," Wayne defended.
Lucas withdrew his hands and started moving towards the connecting door of the kitchen where I was standing, and I instinctively moved very fast out of the place, disappearing into my room.
I couldn’t risk being caught if I wanted to keep eavesdropping on them. Besides, they always argue drunkenly, but not on this type of issue.
I slumped on my bed, and my mind kept wandering back to their conversation. I couldn’t help thinking that Ashwood might be in trouble.
But first, Ashwood has an upcoming election, and I hope this business with Ashwood students won’t affect the outcome of the forthcoming election.
I was considering trailing them to the casino alone to find out their movements and the strange creatures they talked about.
Alternatively, I could invite the Alpha successors into this, which would probably allow me to ally with them.
Although they were my mate’s mate, they were still potential allies for the Silvernight pack.
