Chapter105

As soon as Harriet finished speaking, Ellsworth scooped her up

from the chair.

Startled, Harriet grabbed his shirt with both hands. “Ellsworth,

what are you doing?”

Ellsworth tossed Harriet onto the bed-not too hard, not too soft-

trapping her in his arms and asked with augh, “It’ste at

night. What do you think I want to do?”

Earlier at Gxy Innovations, some of the old employees had

asked him if Harriet was his wife, saying the youngdy was

very impressive for her age. At that moment, he just wanted to

be alone with her, to make her his.

But he had to work then, so he held back.

As Harriet tried to push herself up from the bed, Ellsworth

grabbed her hands and pressed her back down.

Harriet struggled a few times, but still couldn’t break free.

When Ellsworth leaned down to kiss her, Harriet frowned and

turned her face away.

Chapter105

Seeing Harriet’s reluctance, Ellsworth didn’t continue. He just

looked at her.

After staring at Harriet for a while, Ellsworth got up from her.

Then, without a word, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window,

picked up a cigarette and lighter from the cab, and lit a

cigarette for himself.

Smoke rings apanied his exhaled breath as Ellsworth

turned around, tapped the ash into the tray on the side cab,

and looked at Harriet, exining in a calm voice, “Kelsey can’t

affect your position as Mrs. Townsend.”

Even though Harriet hadn’t said anything, Ellsworth wasn’t

stupid. He knew exactly what he’d done.

Her position?

Getting up from the bed, Harriet couldn’t be bothered to exin further and said directly, “I don’t want to be Mrs. Townsend

anymore. I’m still determined to get a divorce.”

At Harriet’s attitude, Ellsworth just looked at her.

Meeting Ellsworth’s gaze, Harriet didn’t back down and

continued, “The resignation issue shouldn’t have any more

impact. Once things die down, before we go through the

formalities, it should be fine to make an announcement in

advance.”

“It’s just that, for the sake of thepany’s stock stability, it

would be better for you and Kelsey to wait a year or so before

getting married. By then, it should be fine.”

She’d even thought about him marrying Kelsey. Ellsworth

walked over to the coffee table, stubbed out his half-smoked

cigarette in the ashtray, and just looked at Harriet without

saying a word.

He had thought that after the stock incident, their rtionship

would have eased, and that she wouldn’t bring up divorce again.

Staring at Harriet for a long time, seeing her quietly sit back

down at the desk, Ellsworth said, “I’m going out. Get some rest

early.”

Harriet didn’t look at him, kept her eyes on theputer, and

replied coolly, “Okay,”

It wasn’t until she heard the door close-not too hard, not too

soft-that Harriet finally turned to look at the doorway, staring for

a long, long time.

He drove away from Auburn Heights.

Ellsworth didn’t go to Kelsey, but called Johnathan out for a

drink.

At the bar.

By the time Johnathan arrived, Ellsworth was already there.

Walking up to the table and looking at Ellsworth, Johnathan

said with disdain, “You had another fight with Hara, didn’t you? |

really didn’t want toe out and keep youpany.”

It’s been three years. How many times had he tried to talk

sense into him?

Had he ever listened?

Picking up the ss on the table and downing half of it in one

gulp, Ellsworth said carelessly, “Who said I fought with her?”

Johnathan sat down on the sofa beside him and saidzily,

“True, you don’t even go home. You don’t give Hara a chance to

vent. You’re just ying the cold war.”

After speaking, Johnathan called over a waiter and ordered a

fresh juice for himself.

Ellsworth looked up at him and said, “Trying to be healthytely,

not drinking alcohol.”

Ellsworth rolled his eyes at him, not bothering to respond.

When the waiter brought the juice, Johnathan took a sip, looked

at Ellsworth, and asked, “Did you take Kelsey to Gxy

Innovations today?”

When Ellsworth got involved in this, Johnathan already felt it

wasn’t a good sign.

The key was, a lot of what Ellsworth did really disrespected

Harriet and didn’t give her any face. Even as his brothers, they

couldn’t stand to watch.

At Johnathan’s question, Ellsworth took a sip of his drink and

replied unhurriedly, “Kelsey couldn’t secure the Gxy

Innovations project. I didn’t go there just for the Graham family.

Reginald’s project really does have potential.”

Johnathan said, “But that’s not how it looks. Besides, if

Reginald really chooses to work with you, would you really leave

the Graham family out of it?”

After Johnathan finished, Ellsworth fell silent.
