When she reached Keh, Kathie threw her arms around

him and asked excitedly, “Ken, you’re back?”

She then asked, “Why didn’t you call to tell me? When did you

get back? How did you know I was here?”

Catching the overjoyed Kathie, Keh wrapped one arm around her back, brushed the stray hair from her face with the

other, and said with a smile, “I just got home tonight. Dad said

you were out here, so I came to pick you up.”

With both arms around Keh’s neck, Kathie looked up at

him and said, “Ken, you haven’t been back for almost a year this

time. I’ve missed you so much.”

At this point, Harriet and Johnathan had alsoe over.

Harriet greeted him warmly, “Ken.”

Seeing Harriet approach, Keh let go of Kathie, reached out

and ruffled her hair, saying, “Hara, long time no see!”

Although Keh was tall and worked in the military, and

usually looked serious, he was always gentle with Kathie, Harriet, and the other girls.

Seeing this, Johnathan and the others quickly greeted him as

well: “Ken.”

“Ken.”

“Keh.”

“Mr. Keh.”

Keh didn’t respond to each of them individually; he just

nodded to everyone as a reply.

Finally, he looked at Johnathan and offered his

congrattions: “Johnathan, happy birthday!”

Johnathan quickly replied with a smile, “Ken, why didn’t’ you

let us know you wereing back? If I’d known, I would’ve

Keh smiled and said, “You young people are having fun-I

didn’t want to intrude.””

Keh was older than Johnathan and Darrick, but only by

three years. Still, he had always been mature, and after joining

the military, he became even more steady.

He didn’t like the glitz and mour, nor did he enjoy such lively

asions.

He preferred peace and quiet.

Meanwhile, Kathie was clinging to Keh’s arm, unwilling to

let go even for a moment.

Kathie had liked Keh since she was a child, and after he got

into military school and joined the army, she admired him even

more.

Keh was her one and only idol.

After greeting Johnathan, Darrick, and the others, Keh

drove Harriet and Kathie home first.

Keh drove in front, while Harriet and Kathie sat side by

side in the back seat.

Even though Keh was always gentle with her, Harriet still

felt nervous every time she saw him.

She wasn’t much of a talker to begin with, and in front of

Keh, she spoke even less, sitting up straight and never as

rxed as Kathie.

ncing at the two of them in the rearview mirror, Keh

asked, “Ells didn’te tonight?”

When Keh mentioned Ellsworth, Kathie replied with a

look of disdain, “Don’t even mention Ells. One call from Kelsey

and he was gone.”

“What’s worse is,st time he and Kelsey got caught by

reporters at a hotel, he made Hara pretend to be Kelsey to clean

up the mess. He’s never home, and when Hara asked for a

divorce, he dragged his feet and wouldn’t sign the papers. Ken,

don’t you think Ells is just awful?”

Before Keh could respond, Kathie added, “All the

Townsend family’s bad traits seem to have ended up in him

alone.”

Hearing that Harriet had asked for a divorce, Keh nced

at her again in the rearview mirror.

She had really liked Ells. To get to this point, she must have

made a huge decision.

Keh didn’t respond to that-there was nothing he could say.

Kathie continued, “Ken, now that you’re back, you have to talk

to Ells. Make him give Hara a way out. If he keeps this up, I’m

afraid Hara will get depressed.”

Before she got married, Harriet was so happy.

Over the past three years, she had watched the light in Harriet’s

eyes gradually fade, watched her lose herself, watched

Ellsworth torment her until she was covered in wounds and

lost all confidence.

The life Harriet was living was simply inhuman.

If it were her, she would have turned the Townsend family

upside down long ago.

The more Kathie spoke, the angrier she got. Keh said

calmly, “I’ll find a chance to talk to him.”

As the siblings discussed her marriage, Harriet didn’t know

what to say for a moment, so she simply stayed silent.

Soon, the car stopped at the entrance to the Townsend’s

mansion. After getting out, Kathie told Keh, “Ken, you take

Hara home. If she stays at the Townsend’s mansion, Grandma

will bring up the great-grandchild thing again.”

“Okay!” Keh said, “You go get some rest.”

“Alright.”

After watching Kathie enter the house, Keh finally looked

away, but he didn’t start the car.

Seeing this, Harriet looked up at Keh.

Keh happened to be looking at her too. He said, “Hara, pe sit in the front.”
