She smiled again and said, “You don’t owe me anything, and the

Townsend family owes me even less. It’s not right for me to

take anything from you.”

When they got married, there had never been any issues about

money.

Now that they were divorcing, it still wasn’t an issue.

Harriet insisted on leaving with nothing. Ellsworth looked at

her for a moment, then put both hands in his pockets and

turned to look aside.

His expression darkened, and he didn’t speak for a long time.

He had thought that when Harriet brought up divorce, they

would argue endlessly over the division of assets. He hadn’t

expected that after overhearing his conversation with

Johnathan, she would want nothing at all.

Rather lofty, actually.

After thinking for a while, Ellsworth finally turned back to

look at Harriet “If you want nothing, how will you live? After leaving the Townsend Group, what can you do?”

Back in school, she was good at studying, but that was all she

knew-studying and taking exams.

She was able to be vice president at the Townsend Group only

because the Townsend family backed her. Without the

In response to Ellsworth’s questioning, Harriet smiled and said, “Don’t worry. With my own abilities, I should be able to live just

fine. You don’t need to worry about me.”

Harriet spoke her harsh words gently. Ellsworth kept his hands in his pockets and looked at her with that same cold

detachment.

But Ellsworth still didn’t take the agreement, and Harriet

started to feel a bit awkward.

She had thought that once everything was said and the

agreement handed over, he would sign it right away.

Pressing her lips together, she considered putting the

agreement back on the desk and waiting for him to sign it when

he was ready, but Ellsworth suddenly spoke again.

He asked her, “Are you just trying to get back at me?”

Ellsworth’s tone was icy. Harriet was surprised to hear it, and

looked up at him. “How could I be?”

Seeing Ellsworth’s unpleasant expression, Harriet exined,

“The agreement was signed a long time ago. It’s always been this

one. Besides, back then I didn’t know about your rtionship

with Kelsey. I got involved in your rtionship, and honestly, I

feel quite embarrassed about it.”

“So you see…”

Ellsworth shot her a cold look, and Harriet’s words were cut off

mid-sentence.

She looked up at him for a while, then withdrew her right hand

that was holding the agreement.

The bedroom lighting was warm and cozy. Harriet spoke in a

measured, reasonable tone, but Ellsworth was clearly irritated.

Irritated for no apparent reason.

Ellsworth fell silent again, giving her the cold shoulder. Harriet put the agreement back on the desk and said gently, “I’ll just

leave the agreement here, whenever you…”

Before Harriet could finish her sentence, Ellsworth suddenly

reached out, grabbed the back of her neck, and yanked her

toward him.

The sudden pull made Harriet stumble, and she crashed right

into his arms.

Her nose almost felt like it was breaking from the impact.

Harriet covered her nose and looked up at Ellsworth.

Her eyes were full of shock as she asked, “Ellsworth, what are

you doing?”

She thought Ellsworth was going to hit her.

Fortunately, Ellsworth did nothing else. He had only pulled her

over.

Sensing Harriet’s fear, Ellsworth pinched her face, making her

look into his eyes. “You really want nothing?”

After a pause, Ellsworth gave a half-smile and said, “You’re

putting the Townsend family in the spotlight, making it look

like we’re bullying you. Harriet, you’re very clever.”

Looking up at Ellsworth, Harriet was utterly incredulous, her

gaze full of shock.

She stared at Ellsworth for a long time before finally regaining

herposure and asking, “Ellsworth, why do you twist

everything I say? Why is everything I do wrong? Ellsworth,

then tell me, what should I do?”

There was no way tomunicate. She and Ellsworth simply

couldn’tmunicate.

Ellsworth didn’t like her, so whatever she did was wrong. No matter what she did, Ellsworth would always overinterpret it.

Looking down at Harriet, Ellsworth’s gaze was cold. In truth, he

really disliked discussing divorce with her.

Ellsworth said nothing. Harriet silently raised her right hand and removed his hand from her face.

She looked at Ellsworth quietly, her eyes turning red.

She didn’t remind Ellsworth to sign the agreement again. She simply turned around quietly, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and stood with her back to him.

He probably took Grandpa’s promise seriously.

If I don’t agree to the agreement, she just quiets down.
